When can your customer claim redress?
Be aware that you are legally bound by any public statements you make about your products, especially through advertisements or on labels.
If you are a retailer, your customers can ask for redress under the legal guarantee provided by EU law - if an item:
If you inform your customer that the product you are going to sell has quality problems, they cannot then claim redress from you about this particular defect.
What can your customer claim?
Your customers have the right to ask you to do any of the following without any charge (for postage, labour, material, etc.):
Repair or replacement
In most countries there is a "hierarchy of remedies". This means that your customer must firstly request that you repair the product, or replace it if repair is not a viable option (e.g. too expensive). You must do this within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience for your customer.
Price reduction or full refund
Another option for your customer is that you give them a price reduction or a full refund, but only if repair or replacement:
False advertising Law - The consumer proved theirr case ( Thanks to Crom Cruach many posts and admittance of GGE running aq defective event).and with as follows,
(a) that the advertising was false or misleading;
(b) that the falsity was “material,” often meaning the company lied about something important;
(c) the consumer saw the false advertisement; and
(d) the consumer relied on the false advertising in purchasing the product or service. Consumers may show reliance be proving they wouldn’t have bought the product or service if not for the false advertising. They may also show they relied on a false advertisement if a false statement caused them to pay more for the company’s product or service than they otherwise would have.
This could branch to many claims... and other civil penalties...
I sincerely hope that GGS will make this right by
1. 100% Refund of the money spent
2. All rubies bought and still on the account are to be transferred to the player's Main US1 Server Account.
3. Any other related items that came with the purchase such as coins, tools and resources are to be transferred to the player's account. If accounting cannot be determined, an amount maybe determined based and extended as reward bonuses.
4. All participants of the falsely advertised event be rewarded the TOP 1 reward.
Again this is Strategic and makes it harder for those searching for the Capital holder and the location of the Capital. I did check the Rawside top 4 Alliances, and they all have Capitals. There ARE those in the top 10 that do not...……..

give us a little distance between castles, add more OPs and towers to hit...reduce the time it takes to hit someone across the screen.
event is way too slow.. 8 hrs to bring in the city state is far too long.. zzz
add some bonuses like u do in the outer realms.. event has promise if some tweaks are made.

Level 3 Altar brings the City State in 75% faster. How much does it cost? No idea.
Upgrade from level 1 to level 2 costs 2,500 rubies and gives 25% reduction. So, we can speculate that 75% would be at least 7,500. Most likely a lot more that that...……...

Disgusting event, and I sure want some good compensation for this disaster. I've already wasted $200 on other games because I'm so pissed at GGS and won't be spending a dime until I see what compensation I get.

How many alliances have NO Castle?
How many alliances have NO Capital?
This event has been a cluster F from day 1 and yet you are Still pushing ruby sales, possibly to players who have no idea just how badly broken this event is -ROBBERY and taking advantage is what this is called!
I still think each of us who worked this event deserve top prize compensation for you're obvious lack of Q n A before roll out and total disregard to your customers by shutting the event down till you fixed it .
I predict it will be run again shortly with all the current bugs mostly intact...As that would be par for the GGE course.
Now a question for all the people who purchase rubies for any purpose: Why? I mean I get that you want an advantage and all, but don't you also expect value for your money, a quality product from a company that values its customers? For me at least, if you don't deliver those you're not getting my money. You might get me once, but that's it. You know fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I'm still playing this game for the friends and curiosity of what the next stupidity of GGE will be.
If you think you deserve a refund please contact our Customer Support agents and they will go through the process with you quickly and efficently. If you deserve a refund there will be no dispute from us.
If you start issuing chargebacks your accounts will be blocked once the system detects this. This is to also protect us. Chargebacks are in no way a refund mechanism and should never be considered as such. Raising a chargeback creates a legal obligation on us to defend against them. I really implore you not to do this as a method of refund.
I have with a heavy heart edited one of the posts here from @Morentz (US1), which I am very hesitant to do usually. It is a guide as to how to request a chargeback. Please contact Customer Support.

Ans seriously crom you are having a laugh, there were over 10,000 alliances in the outers comptition, even if they only averaged 10 people per alliance that 100,000 players all with a more than reasonable claim for a refund.
Do you really want 100,000 complaints going through customer services. can you guarnatee that they are going to be dealt with in a timly manor ?
For once in your life do the right thing. Just refund all players and start over again next time.
please remember this was GGE's fault, if was GGE that launched a product that was not ready for release and was not fit for purpose. It was GGE what decided to run the event and not stop the event even though it KNEW at this point it was not fit for purpose.
So no matter how you look at it its was GGE that casued the problem, yet you want your players to bear the cost of those mistakes.
You should have done the right thing as soon as you found out it wasnt working correctly, and you couldnt fix it before the end of the event. But you didnt, that kind of limits your options now, and a full refund to all players is the bear minimum of what and reasonable company should be doing.
Its never too late to do the right thing. Just do it, its not your customers fault why are you expecting them to pay?
Therefore, requesting a chargeback seems a totally viable option under EU consumer laws.
Personally, I don't play this game anymore but I still see my alliance members complain in Skype about how GGE is run. I am sick and tired of seeing GGE get away with the dirty crap that they have been pulling for years, and offering some low-level compensation packages and other awful forms of restitution.
My girlfriend works as a lawyer for the EU Parliament/European Court of Justice, and I have asked her to describe the situation to her colleagues that specialise in EU consumer laws, to see what they say regarding GGE's business practices.
