PVP vs bullying
Bullying of the server by dominating alliances became a norm. Instead of enjoying exchanges of pvp glory hits as some of us (perhaps naively) expected, most if not all incoming attacks are against alliances or players who are unable responding symmetrically. The rhetoric includes “we are playing GGE rules”, or “you should join a stronger alliance”, or “go playing Big Farm”. Oh well.
Bringing up Big Farm as an alternative seems to come from those who didn’t play real survival fights such as Fortnite Battle Royale, or Apex Legends, or similar. In comparison to those GGE IS a spiced-up extension of Big Farm. Like it or not. As such, the game DOES attract many people who are inclined to build and do events, yet in a more down-to-earth environment. How much damage is seen as acceptable varies across groups and players. But future of the game very much depends on whether or not we (as a community) are able to respect and adjust to the variety of visions of what is appropriate.
The suggestion to join a “better alliance” translates as “join a group with enough big spenders to buy off certain immunity for the group”. If everybody does that, GGE will eventually become an elite-club with admission cost determined by income of top spenders or their parents.
As to the argument that existing forms of bullying comply with “GGE rules” – see the beginning of the letter. Exchanges of pvp hits or wars between equal players or equal groups would be fine, but it’s not where the game evolves. I hope those who determine the “GGE rules” realize that the niche of survival fights is already occupied by Battle-Royale type of games. Attempts to follow that path are determined to fail. If GGE is supposed to thrive in the coming years, a more balanced concept of the game is needed.
