To me that would be a more fairer action to take as NO ONE would be plagued by loss or starvation! and no one has to go through the red tape to get compensation!

In regards to compensation, 81k food is a bit of joke, but is not getting your troops back compensation in its itself? Things are gonna happen, servers will crash, thats just how it is.
We got 1k horrors and 50 feathers already, but for the long period of "downtime" for some, some more compensation wouldn't hurt.
this sounds easy, but sadly stopping the servers won't be any help. Once the server would be alive again all starvation would have been calculated and executed for the time the server was not available. We are aware of this problem and we will develop a feature in the future to turn of food consumption, but again still sounds easier then it actually is. Therefore, development and testing time is needed here, so I can't give you any dates when it will actually be there. But I am pushing for it as good as I can.
Concerning the compensation itself, we faced a difficult situation. Approx. 5% of our player base was affected and could not play for roughly two days. For this we were sure to give out a big compensation, also for time loss and loss of joy (state of my note on Saturday). But on the other hand 95% of the users did not have the problems, therefore we saw it would not make sense to give out a general package as big as it was needed for free to everyone. Simply because it would totally destroy the in game economy (state of Monday morning).
As a next step we tried to identify the effected players in or system and we spend nearly a full day of looking for a suitable matrix. But whatever we tried, once we doubled checked with accounts that reported a problem to our support, those names did not show up.
With a sad heart we had to make the decisions to compensate all affected players manually via support, that means everyone who suffered losses should contact support. They will make the actual compensation, so it reaches those players who really have been affected.
We are aware this is not a popular decision, but the problem spread over a lot of servers. Some where heavily affected, others not a all, which makes it always hard to find a solution that fits everyone.
The food we care out is not the actual compensation (which will be done by support), but a compensation for a side affect. While players could not connect they got supported a lot by their alliance members with food to prevent starvation. Since you guys are a great community and help each other also in troubled times, the amount of players who did this is just to huge to identify. Therefore we decided to give out a general gift on top of the actual compensation to acknowledge the alliance's effort we saw during this time.
But again: The food is not the compensation! The compensation will be handled via our support directly to the affected accounts.
We are sorry for the inconvenience we caused and we know we lost a lot of trust due to this. But after trying to identify all affected players all day yesterday, we just came to the realization, that we don't have a valid database to detect those accounts, as sad as it is. And we had to decide either to compensate the affected accounts manually via support or having a huge grey amount of people who would benefit form a big package who have not been affected at all.
I like the idea of being able to turn off food consumption. It does mean that players would have been safe in the knowledge that they would lose no troops and their teams would not have to feed them. Hope this feature comes into play soon and would certainly make GGS support team's life easier.
You can distribute packages by server so target effected servers and I'm not sure where the 5% / 95% stats came from but from personal observation in our alliance of 65 alone 18 (at least) had issues getting in. Some, like myself, managed to get in after trying all the temporary fixes and then remained logged in for the entire weekend not daring to turn the laptop off. While others had issues repeatedly and got kicked out. Some got in after hours of trying, some gave up trying. As a team we fed each other and as a result I suspect you will not have 18 claims from us. I do not believe our experience is unusual.
I am not sure that the gift package paid out while most were still struggling to login was perhaps the way to go, especially since it included a boost that unevened things further. Maybe the food package should have been given during the weekend to help people feed team mates and the compensation package given once issues had been resolved and all had a chance to play with a season points booster for ice comp rather than sams booster.
If you are replacing lost troops then it is not really compensation so much as giving back that which should not have been lost. Compensation is if I lost 1k in horrors and you give me back 2k. 1k is mine in the first place and 1k is compensation for the inconvenience of the loss and having to wait to get them back. Just need to make the distinction between what is entitlement and what is compensation.
How do i even begin to claim for all the troops, tools, coins and feathers i used to support my allaince when most of them could not log on?
The 1000 free demons.horrors and 50 feathers came in handy at the time but i used them all and so much more in hitting sams to get food for other people and the hours and hours and hours i had to sepnd online doing so that wasnt really game play - i will not be compensated for that!
BTW GGE - in life sometimes folks dont really want "compensation" for losses - although thats nice - what they really want is healing for the hurt that has been caused and an assurance that it will never ever happen again.

Keep the proof of the losses archived until the troops are in your account. Do not trust that GGS will check their systems and that those systems will be accurate.
This is an observation and an honest question. (I know I use sarcasm a fair bit, but this is NOT one of those times) :
My experience has been that troop loss due to food shortages can come BOTH at the time it occurs (and shows up in the message log as such) AND / OR upon logging in. Sometimes, the message has not shown up until the 2nd log in, even though you can SEE you are missing the 1.5k troops and your food is at 4. Given this experience and related to the above message from "Customer Service", HOW exactly would one be able to document these losses in a way that would satisfy the above request? AND if this is my experience, would not those "checking your account" potentially also NOT see the loss until my logging in and the "starvation would have been calculated and executed for the time"?
I'll most likely kill you in the morning.
An even better idea would be to upgrade your servers but I guess you guys are way too busy fixing bugs and making new and creative events.

Personally I would like to see losses auto logged....with it a time alongside the loss time to stop all the shirkers from claiming what aint happened...
I am not saying anyone here is of the above....merely saying the old blame gge and lets claim extra many have and still do hence spoil it for the genuine....
I defo think take away the players bs argument with a time and date on the troop losses tho....would clear alot up...gge aint daft they know a massive amount of claims are fantasies.........I do...you do....on this occasion the logins were genuine half our alliance couldnt get on....I was fine so wont be claiming with a fake desertion print....
So to end this post I would say....programmers add time and date to the lost troops..............with this a daily loot.......as if people got loot they online........and if people aint online and got loot ya catching themm,boooty callls innnnit....
I play on AU1 and was not able to play for two days
I lost 2610 troops. I did not get the "blue Box" apology gift either.
I have sent three emails to support and have gotten NOTHING in reply.

just awesome to be in the top 5% of something, even if it is the number of players to be locked out of game, or Oiling the Chain mail for 36 hours.
Interestingly when message sent to support and google docs form filled as directed, i get asked to supply a screenshot of my losses. (i don't feel the need to do a headcount of troops and numbers before logging off, as i don't suspect not being able to log in).
As mentioned previously, the idea of compensating players who were interrupted in logging in for two hours or indeed not at all, with 1K troops, fast Feathers, Food and a Samurai point booster creates a disparity and makes it impossible to compete, when locked out for 36 hours.
It affects Samurai position (dropped 80 places- out of top 100), thus no rewards,
it affects Winter Comp ( dropped 100+ places due to lock out, and point booster for other players), thus no rewards and no Castellan completion, and certainly no top 100 rewards.
Now given my alliance can support me with food in my absence , should in no way mean i am put at a disadvantage to those that have received points boosters. I am not bothered about extra troops in this instance. I can live with desertion at other realms like Ever winter et al.
Perhaps consider a general season points booster instead of a competition points booster, and as stated by cheza2000
I realise that a lot of support tickets are being lodged, but by the time the genuine cases are answered and resolved, the Winter Comp will be over.
And to think that GGE does not have a valid database to identify players with issues, with the operating revenue of the company is just...(best not said)

Pretty sure my alliance has kicked me out over this S****, not to mention people that could get online, specifically my enemy's would have destroyed my castle and ops, made me lose pretty much everything.
Though i really want to play the game, i dread the moment i get on and see utter chaos.
Food is not good enough. I'm sure everyone would agree that rubies would be better compensation.
Love the game don't get me wrong but all this hassle and aggravation is making me just want to give up and move on to something else.
I lost 6k troops but decided not worth claiming because by the time you get them theyre already recruited and don't need the extra food usage
ive filled all the forms gge asked to be filled and havnt had word of any thing they've come up with

1. GGS Have the worst, most incompetent programming and design team in the industry.
2. GGS simply DGAF about the people playing the game.

As for not being able to determine who could not log in. That has to be the most pathetic reasoning i have ever seen. I see my kids 8-10 years old be able to come up with more complex solutions to problems in scratch and now C. C for a 10 year old.
The way he put it, just look at everyone who have troops starve during the down time and give them their troops and a few days of food.

You state to send in losses and you will check your databases to confirm said losses. Which means you already know and can determine who lost troops. And when, why make people jump through hoops of fire to fix a problem you caused.
Create a script to pull all players who had units starve during the period, only those with >500 troops get it automatically. (those with <500 just need to login and apply for the troops).
Put those lost troops, plus 2 days bonus food into a custom gift for that player. Those troops and food are only realised when they accept the gift, and ONLY THEN. No player needs to wake up to find they got their 5k+ troops back only for them to starve soon after.
God only knows why you don't already do this. Serious design, and gameplay flaw that should have been rectified years ago.
Me thinks that perhaps you don't have the talent anymore to recitfy such simple problems. The participation reports for February are not going to be pretty, and i'm pretty sure they are going to fall off the cliff at any moment.

The Compensation will be given on an individual basis through support once it has been confirmed you were unable to login for the majority of the time you claim, you can ask for compensation for this, which could come in various forms, on top of any losses you had due to the issues, also, you should be able to claim the contents of the original compensation gift box distributed on Friday.
