Game slowly dying

I wish to compliment GGS in doing an excellent Job destroying a once Fun and Interesting game of warfare, into a banal uninteresting non ending progression of boring attacks against computer generated castles.
Before the introduction of non stop, so called challenges, which they are not, a player could expect to attack and be attacked by other players on a a daily basis , making for an interesting and challenging game. No one really attacks you now as glory can be bought with rubies and glory is to easy to obtain attacking computer generated castles with no chance of loss if your smart enough to send the correct tools, no wondering if your going to get a return hit to defend or is he adjusting his defence in response to your attack.
What's the point of playing when there is no challenge from your opponent? GGS greed has finally done the job of game destruction and i among any others have seen thought the ruby grubbing tactics of GGS and their complete and utter contempt for the players of the game.
They have overdone the challenges and effectively killed the enjoyment of playing another real opponent. They could recify this by going back to a once a month week long invasion or similar, but all the can see is ruby sales which will continue to decline as more and more people get really tired of non challenging computer opponents.  127 successful attacks against foriegn castles later i'm bored as all castles can be defeated with the right tools and i'm joining the many others totally annoyed and disappointed with GGS's  milking of the cash cow to the detriment of their customers and walking away from a once great game

You act as if this game ever was not "just about rubies"...

You are correct it laways has been "Just about rubies"  but these ruby grubbing tactics have changed the way the game is played and turned it into a boring progression of challenges , which are not challenging at all

Every single one of these games is meant to make players buy stuff...
I remember when I first started playing when the game first came out. Man that was fun, you didn't know what to expect, you burned but you knew you could step up and fight back.
Now it is pretty obvious that ruby whales will always win and that you cannot defeat them easily.
In the past it took skill to be at the terrible title or to defeat another lord...
There were no commanders no castellans no over powered tools.
I'm not saying commanders and castellans are bad but the fact that you can buy a super commander is pretty unfair in my book.
As a non-ruby player I understand the struggle for most. I do hope GGS will bring back the real fun to the game.
I keep on screaming but there's really nothing left to say.

  • Meh, rubies have always been a major component to the game but they really weren't that bad 5 years ago. 2-3 non ruby players in an alliance could defeat a big ruby player quite easily... The game gave an advantage to ruby buyers, it didn't sell them invincibility like they do now.

A good example is the Ruby Whale with 6  wave attack , impossible to stop , all you can do is go open (costing Rubies) or watch 3000+ veteran Horrors/ daemons land  on your castle
I'm a level 70 (130)  have 90/90 +60% courtyard commanders and castillians and there is no way i can stop that 6th wave  overrunning my flanks  costing in excess of 6000/8000 of support losses
recently had a ruby whale work his way thru the entire top 10 70's of our alliance over 48 hrs , totally unstoppable and GGE are wondering why quite a few players are just walking away as they have provided no way to defend against these monsters What was once a fun game has become a farce on a grand scale with absolutely no chance of winning without  spending $1000+ in rubies to buy super commanders and buying your way to 70 level 400+ for your 6th wave

ruby whales have made the game boring as they are normally high in alliances and often attack other players with horrors and ruby tools with 6 waves which are nearly impossible to defend against also ruby whales can steal RVs and OPs and no one can stop them they killing the game.

Okay, listen, we should get our stories straight, alright? If anyone asks -- and no one's gonna ask, don't worry -- but if anyone asks, tell them as far as you know, the last time you checked, everyone looked pretty much alive. Alright? Not dead.

In Victorian England, a commoner was not allowed to look directly at the Queen, due to a belief at the time that the poor had the ability to steal thoughts. Science now believes that less than 4% of poor people are able to do this.

Like, it's like an insult to me.""Ohh...! There goes another one. There goes another one. They're not inexpensive. I'd just like to point that out. Um, it seems... unfair, y'know, smashing screens. You could give them to people. Instead of smashing them, unscrew them and, and give them to like a homeless person, I don't know what a homeless person would do, but uh, you get my point. It just seems... and you can't unscrew them either, they're bolted in, but... auh, just stop it!!"
"No, seriously. Do come back. Come back, please."
"Okay, I've decided not to kill you. IF you come back."
"Aw. Just thinking back to the old days when we were friends. Good old friends. Not enemies. And I'd say something like 'come back', and you'd be like 'no problem!' And you'd come back. What happened to those days?"
"Can't help but notice you're not coming back. Which is disappointing."
    "Oo! I've got an idea!"
"YES YES! IN YOUR FACE! I GOT YO-ah, nope."
    "Fine. Let the games begin."

Unlikely. All non-buyers wish for a good GGE. I just want a GOOD game. (Not a goodgame). No offence, GGS, the game's screwed. The only thing keeping me from quitting is being with other non-buyers. I just collect the lucky pennies and hold up against the buyers.

I think what all of you are forgetting is that it takes all kinds to make a world.  Why is it so terrible to have a game that the people who don't like PvP or can't handle it as well as you all can for any number of reasons...anywhere from "It's not an area I've really developed and I don't want to" to "My neurological disabilities and social challenges make it really difficult for me" (both of which in my case are true)...can enjoy too?  AND have as full a playing experience as the rest of the players, not just the once a month thing you want to dole out to us?

With all due respect, I think it is you the one forgetting --or perhaps never knew-- how this game was, the reason why most of us got addicted to it.

This was a game where you prospered if you were good at it.  It took time, patience, curiosity, dedication.   It was about warring other players, yes, but it also was about strategy, managing of resources, good eye developing your castles, helping your friends as well as being helped by them, etc.

    Most of that is gone.

Now this game is a stupid competition to figure who is the biggest moron willing to waste the largest amount of money in whatever is the current, pointless, boring competition.  Nothing matters anymore because we all can buy our way out of any situation.

If you want to win, all you need to do is spend enough.

No, I don't forget that it takes all kinds to make a world.  But I can't ignore that the parody this game has become is not a world, and that the only type of person it takes to make it is the one with an inferiority complex and access to a credit card.

If i bought Good game empire I would change it to be better

I hate how its become with the constant events and ruby whales

  • Old post but so true....from the love of money greed is born and like a cancer it will grow out of control. You have to catch it early and beat it back. It's safe to say at this point all is lost....jmho
