Animations of battle would be very interesting, but when would we see it? would it be as the actual battle is fought, as you see your defenders hopelessly outnumbered(Or massacre the ennemy with an iron fist)? In that case i would miss most of my battles. It would be better if you can play the battle afterward, that would be cool. but even then. I like Empire for the strategy, and reflexion(even if fighting ruby buyers make it harder. They basically get hundreds of troops ten times faster then I do.)

Of course, epic battle are always fun.

For the ruby question, it is getting harder because I am outgunned by ruby buyers. Fighting them is an extremely difficult challenge. i'm afraid that will not change.

You should put this in the praise and criticism.

Unfortunately, the only response to such a "spam" effort would be they locked all of the repeating threads.

In other news, my alliance really do not wish to see me go as yet, and are really supportive and keeping things so I stay. What a bunch!

True as e have discussed the mechanics of the game leave something to be desired

Balance is pretty much not there

Too many "Oooh! Shiny!" events to distract the younglings.

Too many ways to spend rubies to the point where the gape between the major ruby buyers and those with fixed, limited, or no income cannot compete for long if at all (See Balance).

And sometimes they overload us with multiple "events" etc, but hardly the ones that actually help, architect is less rare than the researcher.

Very true, each update introduces something 'new and exciting', which s an attempt to keep players interested. What GGS doesn't understand is that one well thought up update every month would do more to keep us around that one second-rate update every week.

Nice thread you got here Lenzabi, I enjoyed reading it.

My personal opinion is that the game is definitely money-based to an extreme extent. The foreigners are ridiculous to any non-ruby buyer. I consider myself a light buyer, I'll drop a hundred every now and again if I see a good sale/deal. I feel like GGS is adding a TON of imbalance to the game with the ability to get Horror troops for buying rubies. That puts some of, if not THE best troops in the game, in the hands of only the ruby players.

I love the idea of battle animations of some sort, I came to Empire off of a similar game run by Jagex, I really liked the system they used. Combat would start, and you would have different sets of units and different types and numbers of troops. There were 6-7 (if memory serves) slots that you could load with a single type and, to my knowledge, any number of troops. You could switch out which troops are fighting, but that wastes a turn of combat and the enemy gets to attack you with whatever he has out. It adds a lot more strategy to the game, and makes it significantly harder to imbalance it with monetary options.

To toss in my responses to what TannerM said, I agree that way too much time is needed to play this game. If GGS was smart, and wanted rubies to be spent, reduce troop recruitment time. People will build more troops a lot faster, use them in battles, and odds are the number of ruby tools used per day are going to be multiplied by 10 to the nth.

I don't think GGS even TAKES our criticisms, they seem to just ignore it, unless it gets out of hand, then they remove the forum posts and/or lock em up. A successful game needs to do what its players want, not what lines their pockets. There's a happy medium, and it won't destroy the game and make it suck for anyone that doesn't have unlimited resources on their hands.

The alliance systems do get tedious at times, but as a member of Free Kingdoms I find that finding targets isn't too terribly difficult.. I fought a couple battles a few days ago that were less than 100 away from me in-game. Though there are times where I wish a target would actually retaliate.

I've been playing this game for roughly two years now, I've watched a lot of updates happen, they seem to be getting progressively worse.

I doubt our thoughts will make any difference, but hey its worth a shot

A great post, to say the least.

I have to say that I have never thought of reducing troop recruitment times to encourage battling, and its a great idea.

Thank, you, glad you enjoyed, normally I aim to entertain, this time, I also am trying to provoke thought, and see if changes for the good of the game may happen.

I myself sink maybe 50bucks into this game. Is all I can truly justify being on a fixed disability income, food/medicine etc are more important considerations for me. Foireign invasion does waste tools and troops we could use in actual fights with active players. And I agree, a massive ruby player with low skills can blow hundreds on the best troops and the technicus and suddenly be a "god commander" lord.

I love the idea of battle animations of some sort, I came to Empire off of a similar game run by Jagex, I really liked the system they used. Similar to Forge of Empires. But it was simple, and seems easy to implement, and would allow us to be better entertained than these silly events that catch the kiddy players or the "ooh shiny" syndrome players.

I think most of the readers are in agreement here with that, sadly, GHGS seems to be in love with the slow as grass growing method, I think what they did, and I may be wrong, is take the Big Farm model and simply add the castles and buildings and the sending the clump of troops out to the architecture.

I don't think GGS even TAKES our criticisms, they seem to just ignore it, unless it gets out of hand, then they remove the forum posts and/or lock em up. Well, one can only hope that the CMs are just looking in to make sure the thread is staying clean and neutral, and maybe report back what they see. It would be nice to see the game restored to the ruby whales having only slight advantages over the non-ruby-whales, restoring balance and making the game fun for all, not just for the ruby whales, who in my opinion must find the lack of challenge crushing the low to no pay players all too easy and boring in many ways.

The alliance systems do get tedious at times, but as a member of Free Kingdoms I find that finding targets isn't too terribly difficult.. I fought a couple battles a few days ago that were less than 100 away from me in-game. Though there are times where I wish a target would actually retaliate.

well, here the system of alliances as played by the players, not the GGS model is making it a bit murkier. As for striking back, well that depends if that castle you hit is actually an active account, a second or 3rd account just to send resources to the original account, or one of the players too scared to start a war when it is their allowed by the rules chance to try and hit back for glory. Sadly there are more "ghost" castles and wimp players than actual players.

I've been playing this game for roughly two years now, I've watched a lot of updates happen, they seem to be getting progressively worse.

I doubt our thoughts will make any difference, but hey its worth a shot

Many are hating the updates that seem to have pretty much no real substance other than to get players to spend more, the game itself has suffered greatly for it, the players who we make relationships with are what happens to prevent a larger exodus away from this game.

And yes, I do think it is worth a shot to see if the game peeps are paying attention as they seem to not be grasping that more ruby grab updates are not cutting it.sales are down due to people being with less money, quit the game, but left their account under stewardship of others, or just up and left and their accounts are ticking down to ruins. Or folks have stopped playing as much as they are totally disgusted with the way the game has been screwed up by the studio itself, making it less fun to play.

What we seem to be left with is a animated social media of friends. Minus the Facebook aspect.

Oh, and this news of the power pint buildings like capitals and metros and KTs in the outlands? I wonder how long before those too wind up only in the hands of the ruby whale biggy alliances? see, the guys and gals at GGS seem to think that may send some form of balance out, but unless the alliance can be strong enough to hold or has the backing of the BIG Allainces to support them in doing so, get ready to be pummeled and those taken away by the ones with the ability already to take and hold said buildings.

We don't think that Goodgame Studios gives a crap what we think. But at least if we state our thoughts, we can say we tried. Even if we fail, and end up quitting, at least we tried.

The fall of the Empire will eventually come, and at that point we will have officially failed to save the game.

We will try and see if they do bother at all. We have to try at the least to see if they revamp the game so all at least have a chance to still enjoy it.

You seem to have missed the idea that as they still try and attract all players, they still need to make it balanced so no matter how much one puts money into the game or not, that the players unable to put the money but the effort are not simply farm fodder for the ones capable of sinking small fortunes into the game. People have developed online friendships, so just flat out quitting is not so easy to do. Some really do like to game a lot, some are past the times of families and many older people are playing the game, who have much time on their hands with family gone away, or so.

Basically folks want to see the game returned to good mechanics over silly events, balance restored, and save the game.
