Event Suggestion - [ Invasion ]

In this event, you will see multiple Strongholds appear on your map, sorta like King of the Robber Barons. Your job is to defeat the enemy before they get too powerful.
The point of this event is actually the opposite of my last suggestion, in that instead of learning how to defend, you learn how to attack.
The event will last 1 day, and the reward will depend on the amount of Strongholds you destroy.
The maximum Strongholds you should be able to destroy is 8.
The troops on the wall/gate is determined by your level of course.
Every time you defeat a Stronghold, you get a small amount of rubies. If you complete the full event, you get a big reward. In addition to this reward, you should get a decoraton.
Slayer Statue or something ( LET GGS BE CREATIVE )
The statue should give maximum public order for your level (IE. +28 PUBLIC ORDER FOR LVL 26), and should increase as you level, sorta like a special type of decoration. You can only win one statue, the next time the event comes it will just be rubies tools or whatever GGS decides.
(WILL LET GGS DECIDE THE TYPE OF REWARD AND THE AMOUNTS)
Strongholds get gradually stronger, so fully completing this event will require you to brainstorm ways to defeat the enemy. ( YOU CAN ONLY ATTACK ONE AT A TIME )
This event will be held in The Great Empire. I know Everwinter has something similar called a Barbarian fortress, but new players can't enter this.
Strongholds will be harder to defeat than RBC.
I think RBC's are weak, and don't really teach much about attack strategies.
This event will better prepare new players for attacks on enemy castles.
[ SORRY, WERE GOING TO CLOSE YOUR THREAD COZ WE NO LIKE ORCS ]
If I do decide to suggest anything after being disrespected like that, It will not include any "mystical" race of any kind.
The story behind this could be... Vikings or Norsemen from the Everwinter have decided to look for new land. They are setting up shop and it's your job to wipe them out before it's too late. I hope my thread doesn't get closed for suggesting this..
Let me know what you think.
Criticism is always welcome!
Comments
It would take you the same amount of time to defeat 8 barons, just they're harder.
As for the poll, I added 3 options... guess its bugged.
I really don't care anymore if my suggestions get into the game or not.
I will not be suggesting anymore for a while, thanks to CM Malreyn.
Don't think she cares much about the time people spend posting stuff.
SORRY WE DONT LIKE ORCS
CLOSED THREAD.
GET REAL.
You said that you can only attack one at a time, that makes it impossible because of the 3 hour cooldown period of time you have when attacking NPC's or players. That is why 1 day cannot work, unless the distance your soldiers have to cover were minimal or the strongholds were different.
It's the same if you were going to attack a rober baron, you get in and you get out quickly.
The difference with Strongholds is you can't send multiple attacks at once.
(MEANING YOU CAN ATTACK ANOTHER ONCE THE ONE YOU ALREADY ATTACKED AS BEEN DEFEATED)
Not one event I have played has "served a purpose"
nor taught me anything on how the game operates.
It's as easy as building a stable.
And I dont like 'orcs' either.
I agree with the first bit, and disagree completely with the second bit.
Yes, RBCs are weak, but the point is to make a profit. You don't make a profit by sending an army of 100 and losing 80. You have to minimize your losses by planning, and using strategy, so that the equipment, coins and maybe even rubies you gain more than covers the troops you lose. If you want to throw a load of strong troops at something, your best bet is a fortress or a real player - there's both strategy and strength needed there (although with some players, it's just strength and no real tactics).
I'm not saying I dislike the idea - I'm just saying that RBCs already teach you how to attack. Maybe the idea could work well, but I don't really like the whole "1 deco that increases" idea. It sounds too much like a kid going "and then the deco does this and the tower goes bang and we all win and then the event comes again and then..." - you need to think about ideas and keep it simple. Just rubies and coins (or maybe equipment) should be fine.
no barons don't teach you how to attack really. they teach you what units beat others. That is their extent. if they taught you how to attack they would be able to adapt to your attack so you can't just exploit their setups and you would need to use intelligence and skill to outsmart them... much like you would for a real player.
These events mainly just give small bonuses and really teach you nothing about playing this game. I agree it would be nice to have events teach you how to play this game through attack and defense.
GGS should really brainstorm around this premise as this would be unique and useful. These are good ideas but ultimately have flaws. like Keef said this isn't our game to make. We can try and help but for the most part GGS should work on the developing.
I started to read this thread and think that there could and should be more maybe computer generated random attacks from a NPC group, i.e. in Everwinter not just based-on-Vikings but other groups maybe based on history, like the Danes or Icelanders, or even say Picts or Norse-Gaels; or based on history loosely so the names of groups give more freedom to make, i.e. instead of say Viking call them Ascomanni which is the German name for them, or use another name for them by another group that people wouldn't necessarily be familiar with, like The Slavs, the Arabs and the Byzantines knew the Vikings as the Rus' or Rhōs, probably derived from various uses of rōþs-, i.e., "related to rowing" or derived from the area of Roslagen in east-central Sweden, where most of the Vikings who visited the Slavic lands came from. That makes it fun and different. No obvious familiar names. This could allow for some interesting play and imagination.
One example of how this would play itself out is possibly a group attacks you (i.e. Norse-Gaels) but all you a player can do is defend. There is no way to attack since they don't have a RB castle --they just come from(get generated) "somewhere?"; and maybe instead of one ..slow..attack, like we're all used to from RB castles, the attack itself also isn't predictable. For example, the attack is sometimes 2-3 attacks, one after another, or maybe it is 4 atttacks, from four small groups, all at once!
In the process if you lose, for example, you will lose resources because that is what that groups wants; or maybe depending on the group that attacks there are different things you could lose. More specifically maybe another group you lose to, the consequence is you lose population, or soilders, or even a dwelling altogether! because that specific computer-generated group wants something specific, ie, slaves or soilders you have, to serve them.
I'm sure I am not the only person whose thought of this or some version of this. I certainly could and would expand on this even further if ppl and GGE were interested.
