Defenders of the Pub: A Role Play

Hawk sat listening to the soothing baritone voice of NC. The story was unknown to him but with such a rendition one can feel the pain and suffering. Hawk knows suffering, having to grow up the bastard son of the town wretch. Scolded and ridiculed. He learned from an early age to solve his problems silently without anything pointed to him. He had to flee the town one night when the mayor walked in on him and the mayor's daughter. She was a lovely lass but way outside his league. He was 17 years old and never looked back. He is now 35 and at the top of his game. I wonder if she married the officer of the garrison? Well hawk does not care. He has a job at hand.

Moving quietly he went to check the perimeter. The guards were awake, but did not even see him.

I watch as NC walks away then bid Hawk farewell as he runs into the night, towards the light of the fires. I get up and walk to Clibis's stall and lay down with my head on one of his paws. "I look up into the night sky and wonder about all the pasts of the people I have met, there sad stories and there evil pasts, and I think back on my own. The son of a king, Who had died when I was young. My mother had married an evil man, and that is why I had fled, to a distant land where I was taken in by a noble, And raised as a warrior. I remember the midnight raid on the castle, and the man that had murdered my adopted parents. And I think of the battle that took lace before the walls of that castle. And the long years of wandering after I was wrongly accused of being a spy, and a trader. Those long cold nights and the fear of an arrow in my back at every turn. I remember the band of Robber Barons I had taken up with and the great wrongs I had committed. And then my thoughts turn back to the present, to my friends, and my enemies. And I fall asleep wondering if I will ever live to see the day when it is all set right.

*I see Aidan and walk up to him*
It was several weeks since the first battle. We'll find who attacked 'The Hanging Noose' one day. All we have to do is wait...

Aidan, it might be good if you add a few 'character summaries' to the start of the thread so people can know more about the main people this thread was made for. So basically a summary about me, you, NationConqueror, Ladychar, Ace10Warrior and maybe some people who join the battle like sparhawk4.

Just before sunrise Hawk is awoken by a feeling that someone or something is watching him. The felling has save him in the past. Hawk slip silently from under the tree he had been sleeping. Going to the pub but on the way while in the shadows he changed course and circled around. He could just make out the form in the dark. It is not a man or not a man he had seen before. Creeping close he noticed that this is a spy. The actions of the man is to familiar to Hawk. The man is doing just what Hawk would have done if he was scouting out a camp. When Hawk is close he takes one of his swords and hit the man aver the head as hard as he could. No Hawk is not the strongest man but that swing of him hit the man but he just turned and faced Hawk. Whit his blade down Hawk reversed and brought the hilt up hitting the man on the chin. He went down with the second hit. Using bovine from his pocket Hawk tied the man"s. Hawk carries the man to the pub. He sets him on a chair. It is still dark in the pub. Hawk Lights some lanterns. Seeing the man the first time he takes a good look. He has never seen something like this. Is this the demon warriors they others spoke of. Hawk pours himself so ale. I don't think they would mind. I will take some of my pay in ale Hawk thinks. I can get use to the taste. I will wait for the others to wake up. They might know more and then they can interrogate this man/thing.

*I wake up when I hear the sound of the warrior being placed on the chair*
*I leave my room, walk down the hall and find the unconscious person on the chair*
*I look at Hawk and then back to the unconscious person*
Wait ... give me a second ... you found him while you were scouting ... you found him unconscious ... wait, no ... you knocked him unconscious ... you think he is a spy ... so, was i right about any of that?

"Yes Sir I thinks so. I have never seen the likes of him. I am not from around here and use to keep to myself avoiding others. Looking at his armor I think he is a scout. The armor is light and he carried no big weapons so I think he went out for speed not to fight. Finding him so close to the pub means there is a larger posse on the way. I will leave you to do the interrogation and go scout further out. I took the liberty and stocked up on some provisions. I hope you don't mind. I also took the caged hawk behind the bar. I am good with birds and will use him in scouting. Who ever was the owner of the hawk tell him I will reimburse him, but no bird should be caged."

With that said I take my leave. As I was leaving the pub the hawk came flying from the roof and landed on me shoulder. As the sun is rising I move in the direction I think the spy came.

I wake up to the sound of a bird screeching and look out the stables to see Hawk with the bird on his shoulder. "I see you are good with birds, where did you find this one? I have never seen him before" *I say as I walk up to him, Clibis follows and lets out a friendly screech when he sees the bird.

i awake and come down stairs to find a demon tied to a chair and Erick talking to him ,i head out side to see Aidan talking to a strange man and Clibis see excited about something , i slowly walk to them *good morning * i say and bow to them , clibis comes and nuzzles me , till i rub his head he knows i will bring him some meat when i am done coking for the men

I look at Clibis, "ha, trader. Hehe, anything for food" I look back at hawk. "here take this carrier pigeon to, send me a report of the numbers and types of the troops, I'll be waiting. Oh and make sure you hold the hawk until the pigeon is out of sight."

"I found him in the back room at the pub. No bird should be caged. I had a gift since I was young. Birds seem to take a liking to me and the can be very helpful." I look at the magnificent bird. " Look at this one loyal to a tee and very useful"

Just before I took my leave a woman came walking towards us. She stroke the bird and I can see she has feeling for it. " Good day Madam I am Hawk the newly appointed scout. I was just on my way"

I take the pigeon from Aidan and started on a fast pace trot in the direction from where I think they might be coming.

It was round noon when I noticed them. Not really notice more smell. Ah the stench. It is indescribable. I made my way around them. It was a camp that had been setup very quickly. Round 75 of the same men that I caught. There was one that looked more human. I could not understand their language but he spoke it. It sounded as if the called him Jared or Jaded. They might have been referring to something ells but that is the only word I understood. I have to speak to the one I caught to pick up their language.

It look as if the build the camp to let their horses rest. The horses looked in bad shape. If the try to ride them today they will not get far. By food with their heavy armor it would take them at least 2 days to reach the pub. I put the information in a paper roll attach it ti the pigeon. I move away a bit and set the pigeon free.

I started on my way back taking the long way to the north. I want to make sure this is the only army comming.

A few hours later Clibis screeches and I look up to see the pigeon flying towards us. It lands at my feet and I pick it up, taking to role of paper off it's leg I read the report on our attackers. "we are going to have company" I shout to the others, The men and I set to work on a small wall made of stakes with pointed ends.
After it is finished I sit down to sharpen my sword and make ready my bow and arrows.

They just don't give up, do they...

*I begin to go to the woods, cutting down trees and giving them to the others to sharpen stakes, then make a barricade with arrow slits. I then begin to carve arrow shafts, find a rock in the woods and begin to make arrow heads with the stone, then shoot down some wild geese for feathers. Soon, I have made 3 dozen extra arrows for our archers to use on the enemy. But will that be enough?

i hear Aidan yell and know i must hurry to collect herbs to heal the men after the battle , when i finish i go to look for Aidan , i see men rushing around making stakes with points and NC making arrows in the distance i see hawk returning to the pub and think to myself he may be a great help with this war ,but i wonder if he has more talent than we know of , i finally find Aidan * Aidan i have done all i can for now , but i am not sure where you want me to do when this starts remember if i die you will also because of the bound * i pull a hunk of meat out of my pocket and toss it to Clibis, i think clibis senses the bound we share because he has taken to me so fast ,he nudges me knowing i have more for him , as i feed him he perks up looking around * Aidan he hears something * i say and start to look around ......

The attack is 24 hours out. I think they will attack as the sun is rising to have the sun in our eye. That is what I would have done. I need to talk to Aidan to tell me all he knows about who and why this attack is coming.

Hey, Aidan, can you add a bit more detail about the main characters? I think it is kind of important to include that I'm the Emperor of Fire Peaks, that I wear burning armour, that seems to have flames leaping of it, which has plates joined together with fast flowing magma which seems to keep it together and make it moveable, that I am skilled with many weapons, that my sword is similar to my armour with a single vein of magma in the middle, and that I'm a close friend of the Necromancer and have been granted the ability to raise undead soldiers. And what do you mean falling asleep on the battle field. I clearly remember going to sleep before hand and waking up to find myself surrounded by dead enemies. Oh, iI'll also help prepare for the battle.
*200 undead soldiers rise around me*
My soldiers shall raze our enemies!
