These are a few tips that I use for my alliance.
    1. Defend members when nessisary
    2. Don't keep inactive members when an active member wants to join and there is no space
    3. Have fun incentives, like coin contests. I personally have a quote identification contest that is renewed daily, and a monthly coin donation contest.
    4. Have light taxes with intrest.

If you beat me once, you earn my respect.
If you beat me twice, I mark you as a target.
If you beat me three times, shame on me.

Just because they are trying to get a personal problem of theirs solved on the forum doesn't make them a dumb A. That doesn't make them any less qualified to give advice.

I would suggest you start small and locally. Get members around you into an alliance, find out what their activity is like, and see if you think they should stay. Finding active players is the first thing you should do, that and expanding relationships in the area, and trying to upgrade alliance bonuses. If you find people in the local, or even further out, area, who appears to buy rubies, I would try to get them in. But as someone stated above, don't push them to donate, that isn't right.

I was lucky as a non-ruby buyer when I started the ThunderWielders. A month or two into the alliance, I got 2 ruby buyer members to join. Since then, we have gone from 5 members with no alliance bonuses to 17 member slots to 221% worth of bonuses, level 5 smithy and 20,000 more glory points. Not much still, but good I would say considering our alliance size. The truth is, rubies are they key. I've donated over 2,000 as a non-ruby buyer, but that wouldn't really get our alliance anywhere.

In the desert by day, drought and dreadful blistering seas of fire-sand leech the life out of those with brittle wills. However, not all that is terrible such as this sea of flames is wholly horrendous. He who has survived the day will find refuge in the desert at night, with cool air and the many stars of the sky to keep him company.

The stars shall guide us to the oasis, to sanctuary, to refuge. We have no reason to fear.

Takes a lot of dedication. find some loyal members and build from there. When i started my alliance it had 5 slots and i was the only member. Now we're 50 strong and still growing. Just takes time....and cash.......lots of cash

Exactly. I had a home grown alliance of about 12 slots, turned it into 51 slots. It is all about finding the right group of people.

Also, try to make each member fell as if they are valued, and value them. Give each member a special job to do until you have too many for that, and award players who do a lot for the alliance and/or donate a lot of resources with promotions. I also pay my job holdimg members resorces. Also, do what your members what.

Allow your members to inform you that they are going to be inactive for xxxdays/weeks/months for a vacation, etc to prevent them from being booted. Also, avoid large wars but small wars are good for furthering your allince's reputation. Also, once you are big enough, offer alliances with long-standing pacts the oppertunity to become one of your sub-alliances. This also furthers your power and protection.

Have a standing rule rather than a fixed rule of inactivity, so eject people if they go inactive for a long period of time if you're close to maxing out the members.

Good point. There is no substitute for activity.
