Kaylin and Rokashi were in the dining room eating breakfast with Agabond. "When do we start searching today, Agabond?" Asked Kaylin. "In a few hours, my men are still gathering provisions. But first, after breakfast, I have to show you something." After breakfast, they went up into Agabond's room. "Here." Agabond handed over an old book, it's cover was crimson red, with a golden sword and javelin crossed. A golden crown was above the two weapons. "The Bahlizzard archives." Said Agabond, "Look at page 37, I think you'll find what's on it very interesting." Kaylin flipped through the pages with Rokashi peering over his shoulders. On page 37, was the member list, up to 30 people. And right under the name Slaysen, was Garadiff. "Garadiff was part of the Bahlizzards? Why didn't he tell us?" "The word Bahlizzard brought great grief to Garadiff, you'll find that out on page 50."
Kaylin flipped to page 50, on the page was a record. He read aloud. "'Garadiff and Fretesha have finally married. It's a very happy night for everyone. Whoops, looks like Slaysen has tripped and went face first into a plum pie. Garadiff has pulled him out and he's wiping his face off with a rag, they're the best of pals. Berong has given Garadiff a nice fine crimson cape with a golden lining. And Rokashi has given Fretesha a beautiful ring, marble in the center with gold sides, and an absolutely beautiful blue crystal on the top. Maranite has given...'" Kaylin stopped reading, "Garadiff was married before me?!" exclaimed Rokashi outraged. "Go to page 64, that should tell you why the Bahlizzards brought grief to Garadiff."
On page 64, Kaylin read aloud. "'Today is a very sad day, Fretesha has died. Our members have been struck by a terrible sickness, everyone made a full recovery. But Fretesha wasn't so lucky. Garadiff is in pieces, he won't even leave his room or eat...'" "Now go to page 66." Kaylin read the next part. "'Garadiff has left the Bahlizzards! We don't know why but he did. He declared during a meeting, we asked him why but he didn't answer. We think he quit because of his grief for Fretesha...'" "So that's why he left." Said Kaylin, as he closed the book. "Now then, let's go for our search." Said Agabond, they walked down to the gate just in time. The men were just about ready to leave.
Slaysen's getting closer!

Grim Squeaker, this is you.
Kaylin, Rokashi, Agabond and the troops rode through Earabon Woods. Rokashi felt uneasy in these woods, "I've got a bad feeling about this." she murmured to Kaylin. "Why?" He asked. "You haven't heard of the rumors of Earabon Woods? Rumor has it that there's a former Shadow Mercenary that lives in these woods." "Well it's a good thing we brought rubies with us, former or not, Shadow Mercenaries never turn down being paid." They trekked on for a few more hours, then they found a clearing. "We'll camp here." Called Agabond, "Put up the tents, get a fire going and start cooking." he commanded as the soldiers began to rest.
"We'll post guards to make sure no one'll sneak up on us in the middle of the night." Said Agabond. But before he could say another word, large groups of cloaked men surrounded the camp. The men prepared to fight. "Halt!" Commanded Agabond. A cloaked figure moved silently towards the three, he halted. "Are you the former Shadow Mercenary?" Asked Agabond. "Yes." Replied the man, his voice like a blade cutting through thin grass. "Will you fight with us against Slaysen?" The name brought murmuring in the ranks of the cloaked figures. The cloaked man waved his hand and silenced them. "We will fight, but...for a price." "How much?" "50,000, no less." "We'll give you 70,000 rubies." He said as he tossed the ruby bags in front of the man. "Done."
The man raised his hand, 6 cloaked figures walked up and picked up the bags and returned to the ranks. "We shall see you on the eve of the battle." Said the man, and as suddenly as they appeared, they vanished. "Well, there's our first group." Said Agabond cheerfully. "Let's just eat." Grumbled Kaylin as he walked over to the stew pot. "Is that stew done yet?"

This is you Wardian.
The trio and the troops came out of the woods early the next day. The morning sunlight began it's relentless rays on the world. The dew glistened in the sunlight like countless jewels. "Who are we going to ask to join our army now, Agabond? We've already got an old former Shadow Mercenary." "I heard that!" Shouted a voice from the woods. Kaylin raised his eyebrows in surprise. "We're going to a ruler named Wardian. He was one of the newest members of the Bahlizzards and wasn't in the book before Slaysen attacked. And don't worry, Wardian has little love for Slaysen." They trekked on across Red Rock Fields, when night fell, they made camp. "Don't go crazy with the food Kaylin, we're running short of supplies." Kaylin's face was that of injured innocence, "The thought never crossed my mind, actually, I am famished." the cook served them their food, a few oatmeal cakes with banana bits topped with honey.
"Dessert for dinner, how wonderful!" Said Kaylin, as he began eating. "Don't eat too much, Kaylin, we've only got enough for two more days." Kaylin practicably choked on his second cake at the news. "That's not good, are we going to get two Wardian before our supplies run out?" "We should get there tomorrow evening." After dinner, they posted a guard and everyone went to sleep. In the middle of the night, Rokashi was little bit away from the camp. Memories coming in like a gale. Kaylin noticed her absence and went to her. He noticed that she was crying, "What's wrong Rokashi?" Startled, she quickly recovered and tried to hide her tears, "N-nothing, Kaylin, I'm fine." "You were thinking about Garadiff, weren't you?" She nodded. He hugged her, "Wipe away those tears Rokashi, I've known you ever since we were kids, this isn't the Rokashi I know. If Garadiff were here right now, he'd tell you to shut up and stop whining." "You think so?" "I know so, he was very good friend. Now come on, we should get some rest, we've got a big day tomorrow."
They were on the march the next morning, thy walked on for hours. "my tongues like a baked sandal, could I have some water, Agabond?" Agabond shook his head. "Sorry, Kaylin, we don't have that much left, once we get to Wardian's castle, we shall have plenty of supplies." They made it to Maradon, Wardian's castle that evening. Leerama rode out to meet them on a beautiful white horse, he halted in front of Agabond and spoke. "Is that you, Agabond?" "Yes, it is I, Wardian, I have come to offer an Alliance with you to help us defeat Slaysen." "Wardian smiled coldly, "I will join you, I want revenge on the dog who killed my friends."
Wardian had a feast for his old friend's arrival, plenty of food to Kaylin's delight. "Now then, I know of someone, he wasn't part of the Bahlizzards, in a Alliance who had a pact with them. I'm sure you've heard of him, Deritex, ruler of Garamond?" "I've heard of him, yes. Isn't he that rich baron who discovered the spice mine?" "Yes, that's the one. He was good friends with Maranite, and I'm sure he want's revenge for his murder, I shall join you and we will see if he will join us. But first, I shall give you supplies." He looked over at Kaylin, who's face was covered in apple pie. "Enjoying that apple pie Kaylin?" He was too absorbed into the pie so much that he didn't hear the conversation, or the question. Kaylin looked up. "What did you say?"

An Emperor's Conquest: Part 10
The morning was a bright and sunny one. Barely cloudy, and shade came every now and then. The troops set out for Garamond, Deritex's castle. "How long will this take, Agabond?" Asked Leerama as they rode the horses past Bandit Valley. "A few days from now. At least you gave us plenty of supplies." Kaylin nodded, "Mmmm, food, when do we stop and eat?" Agabond glared at Kaylin, "Not for a while now,you glutton. You're just gonna have to wait." Kaylin put on a grim face. "Phoo." He muttered. Rokashi smiled, Leerama rolled his eyes. They made camp that night, dinner was delicious, toasted bread with apple and cheese.
"Mmm, delicious." Said Kaylin, "Seconds?" "No, we need to save these rations." Said Agabond, "How long?" asked Kaylin. "Four days." Kaylin groaned, "Not a lot of rations." "Sorry." Muttered Leerama. "That's okay, we'll double our efforts." After four days, they finally made it to Garamond. As they rode towards the castle, battle horns blared. Horses surrounded them quickly, Deritex rode in front of Agabond and spoke sharply. "Who are you and what are you doing in my land with an army?" Agabond spoke back. "We mean no disrespect, sir. we have come to form an Alliance with you." Deritex's eyes twinkled as he spoke cheerfully. "About time someone wanted to form an Alliance with me, what is it called?" Agabond looked disconcerted, "We... we don't have a name for this actually." "I'm sure we can come up with a name eventually. But do come in, I'll give you some food."
After Agabond told Deritex their story, he frowned. "I will join you, my men have been dying to see some action." "Do you know anyone who will join us, Deritex?" "Not that I know of, but we'll just to have to keep searching for people who will fight this Slaysen. We can stay for a little while to plan our next move, then we can get searching for more soldiers.
