Is it better to take your time and level up slowler and build tons of resourse plants and extra styff or is it best to speed though all the levels

    There's a balance that needs to be struck. If all you're worried about is leveling up, then you'll neglect important things like expanding your walls, upgrading towers, and working on your outposts. I've seen some relatively high level players whose outposts are easy targets. But at the same time, there are certain important buildings you can't unlock until you're a higher level, so a little bit of "speeding" is justified. Basically, I don't worry about leveling up as fast as I can, I worry about getting stronger as fast as I can.

    Same as ironjuggernaut but also build extra that what it says to build like more farmhouses more dwellings then actually needed.

    make sure you have good numbers of siege/defensive tools to use as well. Be killing off your troops as fast as you make them without good tools
