What better defender to make? Spearmen or Swordmen ? Bowmen or Archers?

Swordmen and Archers need a lot more coins to be created and need more food. But I do not know if they are worthy ?

    well in the long run archers are the best at your lvl but once you get lvl 5 barracks just use halberds and two handed sword

    When you get a level 5 barrcaks the best defense is halberiders and longbowman. not two handed swords men they are attack units

    Swordsman are kindof useless, go with spearmen and Archers until you get helbreders

    lvl 5 barraks doesn't get you long bowman....i know i have 1...

    It all depends on level if i had time i would have givien you the math and all that but use it like this spearmen in start then archers then halibers then vetrans NEVER USE SWORDSMAN!!!

    If you're constantly attacking robber barons and need to keep up defences then Swordsmen/Archers are worthwhile to spam since they can stay at home to defend and you can send them to siege when you're ready.

    If you're rushing levels then stay with Spearmen and Bowmen for defence (Swordsmen/Archers have slightly worse defence/attack than Spearmen/Bowmen/Macemen/Crossbowmen) until you get to Halberdiers and Two Handed Swordsmen.

    Ultimately it doesn't matter because sooner or later both Spearmen and Swordsmen are outclassed.

    At your level you are likely to have little to no food issues. As such you should just go ahead and buy a mixture of attacking troops (Macemen and Crossbowmen) & defensive troops (Archers, Spearmen and Bowmen). People who attack you most likely don't have access to Heavy-Crossbowmen as such you can just get away with not having any Bowmen and just getting Spearmen with Archers.

    If you have the time and money get Archers over Bowmen. Always get Spearmen over Swordsmen, there is no situation where you wouldn't except that when you have a huge excess of coins with little food sources - a very rare circumstance.

    You would never want to send Archers to attack, they're pretty darn useless in attacking and for a unit that expensive at that level you don't wish to throw away. Same goes with Swordsman but just slightly more useful in attack nonetheless you would be better off spending your gold elsewhere.

    at your level archers,though i am a level 49 in WWW2 and i still use archers because they are very good!

    dont make swordman except for a quest the suck make archers,spearman and bowman(for the number meanning you should have more solders)

    Really? Then your defense must suck. Only use halberdiers and longbowmen.

    Spearmen and Bowmen are definitely the best recruitable defenders....

    When they're veterans that is!
