Epidemics and diseases

BossdudeBossdude Posts: 386
In the Medieval times, there were a lot of diseases, so i think there should be some in the game. You could get it by attacking sick troops or defending against sick troops. If someone attacks you with sick troops, there is a chance that your troops will get sick. You can also get it by attacking robber barons or defending against them. This would create another type of troops that only have a 75% attack/defending power than the normal troops, but you can attack with them and make your enemy's troops sick, which would eventually take them down. The more sick troops you attack/defend with, there is an increased chance of your opponent troops getting sick, if there are any left. Also be warned that you own sick troops could make more of your normal troops sick, especially if you attack or defend with both. Its also a good way to kill troops because of over consumption of food if you dont feel like attacking. Troops die after 5 days of getting infected. The sick troops will look like the regulars except they have a bit of green or blue on the helmet and the face. You are able to research cures which will decrease chances of getting sick, or you could hire a nurse in the king's market to also decrease the chances of getting sick by 10% for 7 days. Troops has a 50% max chance of getting sick, of course in the early levels that chance is decreased, when an attack/defense against sick troops of another player, or and attack/defense of a robber baron.

well if your troops did get the disease you can always kill them off and maybe give your enemy some sick troops.

Only if there is a way to Prevent Diseases, then maybe i would agree.

Maybe like sabotages or something you could sneak in some sort of liquid that once put in food and eaten the solider get the disseas and maybe the gaurdhouses prevent it from happening and its like you can killfrom 5-20 soliders or something... or like not kill but they cant fight for 3 hours or 6 hours

Good idea......and maybe for a lot of food you can research more deadly ones, for example:
Cold: troops lose 15% attack/defense power for 5 weeks
flu: troops lose 20% power for 6 weeks
Smallpox: lose 50% power for 1 week, Die after 1 week
Black (bubonic)Plauge: Lose 75% fighting power for 3 weeks, die after 3 weeks.

Andyou can also research cures that would automatically go into food supply.

This idea seems okay, but I would like it if you could get a cure for the sickness/disease.

there should be a way to treat the illness like sending them through a treatment that would take 3 hours to treat 25 or something but good idea

I think its a brilliant idea, but what if you also include villagers?
For instance, production might go down for awhile, or less tax income?
If you add this, it will be more along the lines of realistic, because if you bring sick soldiers home,
chances are, villagers will get sick too.

Nice idea but I think it might be a bit difficult to implement, far too complex.

Also, I really don't think it would help the game, nobody with a disease ridden army would bother attacking anyone until their troops are well again and GGS want us to attack each other, that's the whole point of the game.

Any idea that affects the stats of troops cold have serious consequences to the game balance.

And what if everyone's troops get diseased with the black plague? It would be possible. All it would take would be one stray soldier infecting someone from farmville and the whole universe would collapse.

See you in the post apocalypse.

If this was implemented many ruby players would quit because of the frenzy. Will not happen.

think its complicated.. but thumbs up.. its a good idea.. treatment should come on ruby and non ruby and the only difference is healing time.. ruby heals faster.. non ruby heals slower than ruby.. :p but if its possible to ggs can they make it without ruby being involved... lol...

I like the idea. Epidemics and diseases make the game more realistic. And to heal epidemics and diseases you can use the same idea as fire on buildings. Instead of repair time you will use nursing time to heal the people/soldiers from the diseases. With rubies faster nursing time. With only resources a longer nursing time.

I thought about that, but i think it will be way to complex to have villagers getting sick too, as some people already think this is complex by itself. So lets just stick with soldiers.

Actually, it does help the game. It makes it more realistic, and if your troops did get the disease you could pass it on to your enemy.

Im still not sure about the treatment to heal your troops, i know that it is realistic to add that in, but it would ruin the whole point of killing your enemy's troops slowly with a disease, so ill think about it but im probably not gonna add that in...sorry :(
plus i already added that you can research the cure to decrease chances of getting sick, which btw, is 50% without the cure or nurse.

I strongly disagree. It would be more realistic, yes, but ultimately it will stop people from attacking each other and for that reason it will never get approval.

This is a war game, not doctors and nurses :)

It won't stop people, it will be a minor inconveinance, and it's part of war. Risks are part of war, and this might be one you have to take.
