Lost rubies

Im not a buyer but still I just hit the king of the robbers before I hit it I had 2,973 rubies after I had 2,760. I did not spend any on anything Is this an actual bug or what happened?

    You didn't lose them. You bought a townhouse and upgraded it to level 2.
