    You can upgrade Farmhouse to lvl 10 (max) without an architect, but you can't upgrade stone quarry to level 10 without him. Just check the list of buildings Jadets posted in the previous post. It answeres everything. If you still sure that your boyfried is able to upgrade bildings from that list without an architect then please provide some evidence (screenshots).
    The idea of architect is that he unlockes some additional upgrades. And his service(unlocking) is free :)
