Travelling knights with shadows

To start, I have searched and didn't see anything with this.
Are you able to get relic pieces for the travelling knights with shadow mercenaries? I have sent out 15 or 20 shadow attacks on rbc castles, and no relic pieces. Is it meant like that, or do I just have really bad luck?
