Attacks on Barrows

I think that, to liven up trading, Robber Barons should be able to attack market barrows that are traveling to their destination. The farther the barrows have to travel the higher the risk of an attack is. To combat this, you would be able to send guards (defensive units) from the Starting Castle with the barrows for support. These guards would be used in the case of an attack, and they would slightly reduce the risk of an attack. If they aren't used, the troops would come back with the empty barrows.

If you are attacked, there would be a battle. If the troops win, the barrows continue on their way with the original amount of resources (minus the troops lost in the fight). If you lose, the barrows are raided, and they would return to the sender either empty or with a reduced load.

The Scout would be a ruby bought character that would reduce the risk of attacks on barrows for a set amount of time at a set rate.

Alliances at war with each other would be able to see some of the trade going on between members of the opposing alliance, and they would then be able to send troops (attackers) to attempt to raid those barrows.

No thanks, I need all my soldiers for fighting enemies, not protecting the barrows that help my fellow alliance members to build their castles.

The last thing we need is an idea that would make players less interested in helping each other/trading.
    It's been a while.....

It's not too bad an idea. First of all I don't think you should send soldiers as support, I think your guards should come from city guards. By using them you perhaps become slightly more susceptible to spies as your guards are out of town. With the new research update you can increase your guards efficiency, so this could work.

Secondly, no one else besides the barrow recipient should be able to see their movements.

I don't mind RBs being able to launch raids on your passing barrows calculated on the distance they travel/speed they travel as a factor of being attacked or not. I mean, they have resources for us to plunder, why can't they intercept some of ours?

To Baldrick: The system we have now is just too easy in my opinion. You shouldn't be able to do anything in this game without risk, and right now there is no risk involved in trading. By adding this, you risk losing some resources if you don't send along guards, and you would also risk having a slightly less defended castle in the case of an attack if you do send along some guards.
To Alcraigh: You would have to send along soldiers because if they wanted to send along Castle Guards GGE would then have to create stats for them (this isn't that big of a deal, but it would just be easier to send along soldiers), but you are right about only Robber Barons being able to attack barrows.

It says this happens in the quest book! It's one of the reasons The General gives for attacking Robber Barons in the first place, so why not make it an actuality?
