taking out the guards

i think there should be a way to take out the guards of a castle to make it even easier to espionage and such.

    Does that mean I spend tons of resources on getting 160 city guards and some newb can just slaughter them all?

    What would you need to do to take out the guards? Some people have worked really hard on getting many guards (Luke Fierysword), and also, something would have to happen to the empty guardhouses. I don't think this is practical.

    I'm sure there are many others who have tons of city guards not just me :)

    well i thought because they are like sercurity guards so the should be a way to attack them but there will also be a way to get them back too you know

    um, well if u take out ur guards well i think ppl could also espionage u... easily... wich also make a downfall to you too

    Like espionage and sabotage, a spy can have an option to reduce the risk of being caught in an enemy (or friendly) castle. This reduced risk can only be used once per XXX hours and must be limited only to the player whose spies were successful for 1/2/3 missions. On a spy mission where a 100% accurate report has an 8% risk of capture, the "risk reduction" option can reduce the capture risk on your next mission by 50%/25% (max value) with 8% of capture.

    With this, your "tons of resources [spent] on getting 160 city guards" will not be wasted. In fact, your castle will still have a much higher capture risk than any of your neighbors! Since city guards and spies are each other's in-game counterpart, there should be a way around mass-produced guard houses.

    The way around mass-produced guardhouses is sending a well balanced and fully tooled army of 1,040 and you'll mostly likely win without spying.

    Well the reason people get guards is to stop sabotage not espionage. Sabotage is really an nuisance especially when multiple buildings are on fire. For this reason they should leave it the way it is.

    Who said anything about new units? It could be added to the list that of things that spies can do, like sabotage. Call it "Scout"

    "Scout: Spies take note of enemy city guards allowing their next mission to be less risky."

    Your spies would have to Scout an enemy castle and return to your own before you can espionage/sabotage with the added benefit of a successful scouting mission.

    Of course, more city guards would make a scouting mission more difficult by causing a lower % reduction with a higher risk of being caught. So if an espionage/sabotage doesn't worry you then you should still be at ease hiding behind your guard towers.

    I honestly do not think this'll get through, but if it does then there's no real point in having any guardhouses...might as well demolish them and replace with parks

    I don't think it will either but it's fun to spitball lol. Never gave the topic any thought until I saw this thread and came up with it all on the spot. Not the best idea, but better than at least 75% of the other ideas out there *pat myself on back*.

    It would be kind of neat though, and would make guard houses more valuable in my opinion. If you don't have enough city guards to repel a "Scouting" attempt then you're in for a world of hurt via sabotage or brutally accurate attacks. If you've built up 15-20 guard houses then there's like a 5% chance (at best) to reduce a 99% capture to around 75%. Still pretty terrible odds lol.

    Definitely not the best idea but it could be fun. And probably more used than sabotage hahah
