Realistic Fighting

ElfangorElfangor Posts: 3,974
I was just attacked (again) by an alliance, and my defenses were defeated. Here is what I don't get: When the attackers got to the keep, there were 40 of them left. These were all attacking units (heavy crossbowmen and two-handed swordsmen). There were 132 defenders left! Numbers alone would have favored the defenders. Plus the fact that half of them were DEFENDING units like bowmen and spearmen (the other half being swordsmen)!

I lost all of my remaining troops in the keep while the attacker lost 20! How does that make sense?!

My suggestion is this: make the fighting more realistic! Either make it so you can go out on a battlefield and confront the oncoming army or make numbers a factor!

the reason why you lost is because heavy crossbowmen and two-handed swordsmen are a lot stronger than bowmen and spearmen and swordsmen. he/she might have also got a 30% attacking bonus if they won at 2 of you flanks on your wall.

Champion is correct, the attackers were much stronger units.

But the attacker would have to break through all three sections of the wall to get +30% in the keep.

If the attacker only breaks through one section of the wall he gets -30% in the keep.

Two sections there is no bonus in the keep, both sides fight evenly.

All three sections, the attacker gets +30% in the keep.

The fighting was even, but 132 men could still take 40 men down in my opinion, no matter what their skill level. The odds are three to one!

You did had Farmers and low defences(Spearmans, bowmans & swordsmans) those 3 are the weakest defenders on the game, and I think 60% of that 132 were Farmers.
He did win because maybe he had Two-Handed-Swords and Heavy Crossbowmans, you should study the Barracks to know how to attack & defence.
    Have fun

well when it comes to thinking realistically, each swordsman/crossbowman only had to kill 3 of your defenders before dying himself, and if they are much better trained and equipped, I could completely see how that would be possible. Crossbowmen just shoot into your crowds killing or disabling 1 man per arrow, they only have to do it 3 times, and they probably ended up doing it many more, and the two-handed swords just take a couple big swings at your chainmail equipped spearmen. Makes sense to me

The problem with it is this: the battle shows every unit and group moving in unison. This would not happen in real life because one group could be held back. Plus, it's like the attackers just appeared in the keep and the defenders fell down dead. It just doesn't make sense. Maybe if they put the odds in (like three to one you add the combined defensive power and compare to one attacker) the attacks would be fair.

Let me be realistic to you, the spearmen/bowmen are supposed to represent poorly equipped/armoured troops. The Heavy crossbowmen and two hand swords are heavy fighting units that are vastly superior in every way. Thats why you lost.
