Transporting Tools Via Market Barrows

I did a quick search and I see this was suggested about two years ago but had no response from GGE and there was modest support for it then. I don't want to bump up a 2 year old thread so wanted to suggest this again.

I think it would be great to be able to transport tools in market barrows. I don't suggest that moving them with troops is taken away either but being able to transport with market barrows is something which is realistic. In fact, it seems unrealistic to not be able to transport tools in some market barrows.

Quite a minor change I think but sometimes I just want to move tools and not troops. I get a little OCD over the troop numbers in my castle and OPs! :rolleyes:

    well I think its not really a big deal to add one guy so you can move tools, market barrows and military are separate things and they would have to totally redesign the menus and things for this minor inconvenience to work. it won't happen.

    I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there. It wouldn't (shouldn't) take too much of a redesign to implement such a feature. So from a game mechanics viewpoint, there shouldn't be a problem.

    From a game-play viewpoint, I think sending 500 ladders with one spearman is far more unrealistic than sending 500 ladders on market barrows. Transport is transport and in real life would be used for military or economic goods. Quite often, I have market barrows free whereas my commanders are mostly always out and about gathering up gold from RBCs.

    [EDIT] - Having re-read your post, I actually do agree a little bit with you about the redesign. I was thinking about redesign from a code standpoint. I do see an issue with having to redesign the graphics so a transport screen could handle all possible tools. However, my above points still stand. GUI redesigns shouldn't be a complete obstacle though

    That is a fair point and I do not disagree with it :-) However, if GGE have a summer intern they want to give some work to, then this could be a cool side project! ;)

    yes, good side project, I wouldn't trust it to an intern lol. I don't entirely disagree with you but I don't see that much of a need. maybe allow the army to support, while not having troops with it. that would be ok.

    It would actually be better to use troops for it, becuase you can transport an unlimited amount of tools with one troop. And if you are really particular about your troop count, just use a spearman and trash him once he runs the errand. I keep a spearman runner at each outpost and main for trool transfers becuase spearmen are the fastest so they return faster.
