2 persons playing from same IP-announcement?

Sahara5Sahara5 Posts: 12
My husband was banned, because we were playing from same ip-adress. This caused lots of discussion in our co-op and my co-op member asked me to post following here.

"Hello!
Is there place to announce if two different players are playing from same IP address? I read terms and it does not allow two accounts in same server, but there is "specific exceptions" part?
Is the only way wait for ban and then send email to unban because there is 2 different persons playing the game?
Or is the only way to forbid other player not to play the game? Ikariam-online game had forum thread where to announce the players who are playing from same ip and are not multi-accounting."

You need to contact support & explain your situation. They'll be able to sort it out for you. You can contact them by clicking the contact us link at the bottom of the page.

I don't think a real life ID card is needed.......just explaining the situation maybe enough :)

The thing we are worried about is how we can prevent this happening to other people. Should somewhere be a proper place to tell GGS if two or more people are using the same address.

I am sure our situation is going to be OK (he contacted support), but this is annoying, especially now Havaii event going on.

Support. That is all I can say. I tell everybody that plays in a family setting on the same IP to send a message to support immediately to say that the accounts belong to 2 (or more) different people. They will probably ask for the e-mails that are connected to the account. I don't know about anything else they may ask, but you will learn soon enough if you send an e-mail to them. They will tell you everything about it :)

Agreed. I'd be a bit hesitant to send that sort of personal information.

One thing that could work in the future is preemptively telling someone (support maybe?) that there are multiple people playing on their own farms from the one IP address, but I don't know how well that would work.

I told it maybe 5 times to people now? I never had a complaint about it not working or them not getting a reply or something, so it seems to be the best thing to do :) I also did not hear from those people that they were banned - they are still playing. So it seems to be the best if not only solution for these kind of situations :)

What about when people help you out like 'can you collect my milk in an hour for me...' or is that not allowed either?

they are not allowed to ask a copy of your id card

in the Netherlands they advice to never do it, read this site its in dutch but probably you can translate it with translation sites

    http://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/paspoort-en-identificatie/vraag-en-antwoord/ben-ik-verplicht-om-een-kopie-van-mijn-identiteitsbewijs-te-geven-aan-een-bedrijf.html

in the part "Overtreding privacywetgeving" they say that companies who ask your id you can report that companies

That would be farm sitting Lucy and that is indeed not allowed.

I can't imagine voluntarily giving that sort of personal information out over the internet. Honestly if the game asked for a copy of my passport so that I could play, I'd probably just not play that game. :P

Honestly.... If Bigfarm wants to ban me because I play a silly game and spend money on gold and a friend comes over to visit and brings her own laptop and because we are on the same IP address..... then they lose

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard..... fix the spammer porn guy first... Good Lord

I don't think they actively police people's accounts, because I have seen some that appear to be multi accounts on the same server, it just came to their attention because of the contest. Or sometimes for other reasons it is brought to their attention.

Also, I have a co-op mate who's son joined and all she did was send a message letting them know he was going to be playing also, no personal information needed.

But yeah, don't really see it as being a big deal on this game if you have multi accounts, not like you can send yourself any gifts like on some other social games. And I don't see a problem with the farm sitting, but those are the rules :/

Sue makes a good point. I met a lady who lives close to me through the game, and we've become friends. If I go to her house or she comes to mine and we want to keep up with our farms, is Big Farm going to boot us??? We aren't family, it's not an everyday thing, so no sense in reporting it to support. If people are getting bumped off the game for this, I think that's going to far!

All the gifts you could send your possible alt account you would have to pay with gold :D

I totally completely agree with ElizabethK and Sue!

Same sort of situation here. My friend and I both play the game on different IPs. But he lives at the other side of the country, so if I visit, it will usually be for a week or 2. Then we will be playing on the same IP for that time because I log in on his connection. I think it would indeed be going too far if we both get banned for this reason. And I think it even goes too far if I have to let support know for those few times I visit him...

The mere suggestion of this makes me angry!

I happen to live in the same house as my coop leader. I pay my rent here and it is my permanent home. I prefer not to run over to the neighbor's house, whom I have never met, to ask if I can play my game at their house so that I can use up the thousands of gold that I spend my hard-earned money to purchase!!!!

In addition, I introduced my gold-buying daughter to the game, which she loves just as much as I do, and because at best she has sporadic internet at her house, she comes to my place to play - several kilometers away, I might add, just so that she can play the game.

Seriously! I would like to know the purpose of/background behind initiating such a rule.....before I decide whether or not I'll continue playing.

Typing that didn't make me feel one bit better!!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand if the game wants it to be "one account per person", but then why is it clearly permissible to have multiple accounts on different servers? That already seems to be a bit odd. The only difference it would make on one server is that you could be in a co-op with yourself.

But even then since accounts can't trade between each other, then the only advantage that you might possibly get is that you could get the beginner's gold bonus multiple times, and the only way that would help you is if all your accounts donated their gold to the co-op. And even then that isn't much of an advantage since you don't get much gold to start with, and you would have to do much more work to sustain multiple accounts, so it's probably easier to actually just play with other people. But if you want to do 5x the work or whatever, then why not.

I would really like to know the purpose of this possible new rule.

I am dedicated to my own account. Personally it makes no difference to me if other people have 1 account or 10 accounts as it does absolutely nothing to interfere with how and when I play my own game. I'd likely envy the fact that they have so much free time to play so many games, but aside from that, it has absolutely no impact on me and my game.

To possibly penalize honest-playing people who have no choice but to use the same IP address, is simply 'wrong'.

Larino, my question is (and I am addressing you since you may know the answer). What is different between someone having multiple accounts on the same server vs. having accounts on different servers?

Ok now back to general. Plus I am not sure how having people report to support makes any difference. I reported my son and I being on the same IP address, but what is stopping less honest people from saying their multiple accounts are a family member playing it. How would BF know the difference? So if someone does have multiple accounts they can simply notify support that they have multiple family members playing and BF still hasn't found them out.

I'm sorry, but it just seems this banning ppl for sharing an IP address really doesn't solve anything, except for inconvenience real families. I just don't see any real solution.

I have to admit that I am cracking my head to try and find a reason why you would have an advantage when you have several accounts on the same server, but I have no clue. Apparently there is something that could bring an advantage. Or it is just a useless rule. The servers are not interconnected, which would take that mysterious advantage away, which is why it is allowed, I guess. Other than that, beat me, I dunno. I disagree with this too.

About the farm sitting I could understand, as people could misuse your account if they have the password details and they want to avoid that. They would need to solve a lot of 'hacked account' issues if they would allow farm sitting :P

The only thing I can think of is if you use the other accounts as a gold farm, to get lots of newbie bonuses. But that doesn't help YOU, since all it could do is benefit a co-op you were in with your multiple accounts. But like I said, that's the only reason I can think of for not having multis, and it's not a very strong reason at all since you don't even get that much gold to start with.
