How is one expected to fulfill a contract that asks for 16000+apples & 6000+apple turnovers, besides 4 other items at the same time? One needs apples to produce apple turnovers. ;( At the same time, 4 other contracts are asking for large quantities of apples.

Slowly and over time. I think they are looking into the Apple specific issue. But as I've said before, I'd rather do 24,000 apples (or even 5 contracts of 96,000 apples as I once had) over a single contract with 5,000 Cabbage. Ugh. The simplest reason being, that Apple Orchards only produce apples. Fields have options, and I hate tying them down to one item for any period of time.

I skip all cabage and similar contracts, as it's not economical to produce cabage for direct sale. That's one of the major issues of the organic market, that it tempts players into non-economical behaviour.

And I refuse to do all the math needed to decide if it is better to lose a few percent through declining on all contracts of that type, or lose profit on opportunity costs. Either way, the difference will probably be marginal, not worth such a hassle imo.

In general, the profit on organic market is so small, that it doesn't justify any risk of opportunity loss. Due to that placing any non-econmical items on contracts makes no sense, as everybody thinking economy will in most cases just skip any contract including these. And then it's no challenge or fun, just skipping. It deserves to mention here, that "it was never the purpose of GGS for farmers to decline majority of contracts" - meaning they missed it in this part. All this is true provided that a farmer geared their production to best suit profit gain and their other purposes before the market was introduced. Pretty much any adjustment of that "ideal" setting to serve the market goes against profitability and defeats the purpose of the market.

I still need to do some data gathering, analysis and calculations to have more precise picture, but that has to wait when I have time for it. :) The above gives in short a gist why I consider the market promissing, yet very controversial and confused feature. And I'm not sure how much, if at all, in all their tweaking since introduction the developpers are addressing this issue. Still, it's workable, just not fully meaningfull. :)

did GGS tweak rate of extra prize's appearance after maintenance? or is it just me not seeing a single karma point in market anymore '~'
and i rarely see even horseshoes or xp and only seen gold before the maintenance T_T
almost all 6 contracts of me are continuously being "extra prize"-less anymore.
anyone else noticed sth like this too? or is it just temporary bad luck for me? :S
I typically have 3-4 "99"s among my six and I rarely ever get any prize. I got a karma point yesterday for the first time in about 4 days. I have just assumed Steffi and co. are addressing that as well. I hope I am not wrong. Otherwise, without more frequent rewards, the market will be basically useless to me.

    Value:
    0 - 19 = No colour
    20-39 = Green
    40-59 = Light Blue
    60-79 = Dark blue
    80-99 = Purple
Over 100 (Pink) = Not yet available.

    Thank You Scissors!

It will be very interesting to see what they do about the market in the next update! I only have 2 cherry orchards and 2 peach orchards, but I am getting cherries in just about every contract and peaches too!!!

Attention, Scissors, Briannospam, and others who frequently post pictures on the Forum.

I am still working on learning to post pictures to the forum and I need your help please. (Some with Market stuff-to make it relevant to this forum).

OK, so I take a screen shot, paste it to Paint, edit, crop, draw circles on it, etc. Then save it as a file.

Then I have to post it somewhere online. I tried google photos. If you have a better place to suggest, please let me know. Or, just let me know where you do it anyway and I'll check it out too.

Then I should be able to copy the picture from there and paste it to the forum.

Well, OK that worked in my test, but with problems! (I really need to learn a bit more about google photos to use that site to do it with too.)

The problem was that my screen shot was way too big for the forum! I didn't seem to be able to make it smaller in the forum either. So, back to testing.........

Please let me know... Where do you post your screenshots so you can copy/paste them to the forum? Have you had to adjust the size of the screenshots you post to the Forum? (In my test, I picked one of my posts, edited it, pasted the picture to it and it was way to big, so I never saved it. Would the size have adjusted automatically if I had saved it?) Please let me know what do I do to make the picture an appropriate size for the forum and what size should they be?

I'm determined to figure this out!! :)

    Thank You!!!!

I use Photobucket but I have seen other using their Google accounts, so that should work OK. You can also Google search for any free hosting sites, there are lots like tinypic.com, though with them you never know how long they leave the images on their site for, so your pic could disappear after a while.

You can adjust the size in "Paint" before you save it, there is a resize button underneath the crop button (below the heading for the View menu). Crop the image to get rid of any extra stuff you don`t need & then resize the part you have left. To give you an idea, a lot of the banners people have in their signatures are about 550 pixels wide, so if you resize to around that width or less you should be fine.

Everything else you said sounds like you are doing the right thing.

and here comes a little supplement with some pictures to Scissors instructions:
When you have clicked at the "Insert Image" button, you get this box where you have to switch to the "From URL" tab, and remove the mark from "Retrieve remote file and reference locally"
    forumpictures1.png
    - if you not remove that mark, it's don't work. (-or at least it don't work here if I don't remove that mark.)

Today I had a limited contract for 204 soaps - payout included 19 gold. Was a value 99 contract, forget the dollars it paid.

I'm still waiting for those "vendor offers". So far i have seen only 2 of them. Pig food and chicken food. And i have seen someone telling they had even mystery box from vendor...
Is it just me or is there anyone else who don't have those offers?

I kind of like the market, but vendor.... and visitors.... ;) I don't want to say what is in my mind.....;)

I took every offer from the vendor and got only chicken/pig regular feed and once 145 wheat ... they appear maybe twice a day or so ...

Walk-ins have been betterlately - normal amounts of products and mostly 20% bonus, but I wish there was a way to cancel the orders we don't want to fill

I always buy stuff, known and unknown from Vendor, until now, it was - fertilizer, humus, every kind of feed, dandelions, lettuce, corn, cabbage... When it's unknown offer, then it's for a 10 000, and when it's known, then it's frequently for a less money, even 500. I suppose they provide suitable offer for your budget, don't know about rest (do they consider your amount of fertilizer, humus, etc..)
Neighbors after THE update are now welcome, but I so-so click on them, when they ask for sunflowers, beans, rice, that kind of products...
For me, Market is a nice way to get horseshoes and to get more money for products that you will either way sell it.

It looks like the Organic market made a big splash, raised big expectations, but only left a few ripples on the water. Promissed a lot, delivered a little. Now moving on to video, leaving the market in it's questionable immature condition? :)

I am still questioning it's purpose. Is it a dollar giver? Is it a dollar pit? Brings really only a very small boost for low and mid level farmers, and even that on rather questionable terms. Special rewards are either given at unattractive rates, or very sparingly in insignificant amount. If all or majority of contracts is fulfilled, as suggested to be original plan, I dare to say that the market can hardly, if at all, be operated with profit. So again, what's the purpose or the attraction of it? It really seems to end up being a very marginal feature with not much going for it, at least for afore mentioned low and mid level farmers. :)

about the only real good answer I can come up with as to why I like the market now that its all leveled up is that it adds a nice splash of color to somewhat pretty bland looking farms that we had before, unless of course you have some Island Farm buildings that add color to things

I like them too. Its cool that they show up whenever we get an upgrade. I don't have my market fully upgraded yet but its good to know the flags will stay once I do. Thanks :)

I do not see in any way how the market be a dollar pit. It can be always played as a dollar giver: fill just the contracts that have no additional prices and deny the ones that give horseshoes, karma points....

The more important question is: what is the strategy of play that gives the greatest benefit. For now I am trying to fill all the contracts except those that want undesired flower farm end products to see what is happening . More I play, more I see that Griffith had a good point (strategy): accept ones with fewer products (1, 2 or 3) and deny the higher ones.

    haha .... Porkies !

I'm sure though the organic market wasn't designed as decoration. It doesn't fit the deco tower. :)

Easily. Just fulfill all or majority of contracts, as originaly intended by designers, and watch your overall farms profit sink down the drain due to opportunity costs.

This is no more much of a question at all as with possible few rare exceptions available strategies have been explored, profits and losses spelled out. Pretty much all that remains would be to show it all in propper numbers, which wouldn't be an easy task as the whole market is ridden by chance factor, making even the little obtainable profit for low and mid level farmers rather unpredictable.

Just as an aside for the PTB if they are still reading this thread, and anyone who wants to add on pro or con...

I have noticed that I have used the Garage a LOT less than I used to, in its current position. Before I'd click on it randomly to see if something was ready. Now I only check it if I think I'm due to punch another powerhouse in.

Same here, i forgot the whole garage sometimes...

And, i'm still wondering am i the "only one" who don't have offers from vendor. Just those 2 a days ago....
Not good or bad offers, nothing. Just neighbours visiting and asking me to sell apples or what ever...

Also at my markets (both on the us and skn server), it's very rare the vendor give me an offer.
I have not count them, but I think I maximum have get 4 offers from the vendor on each of my farms in all that time we have had the market.

Me too, I really have to work at remembering my tractors. I really want those timers wherever the tractors are.

Thanks for the pic info Briannospam. I thought I could just copy/paste the pics.

I was very disappointed that the update for Sept. 1 didn't have more about the market in it.

What makes you level up the carts in your market?

I am still getting cherries, cherries, cherries, and peaches, peaches, and apples in my contracts! I need cherries, peaches, and apples for other things too! When are we going to know that this has been fixed? X(

I have not been skipping contracts due to the huge penalty-up, one down - at least for now. My choice.

I have put ALL contracts on my spreadsheet and figured out the profit in every one. Just an FYI....Not all horseshoes result in a negative cash price/bonus. :)
