Suggestion: "Ask Me If I REALLY Want To Upgrade!"

well it happened again...LAST STRAW GGS...i clicked to harvest eggs...and before i knew it nursery upgrading....using just about all my gold....i had just brought some gold just before the reduced happiness saga( don't often buy gold for this reason)...i did not click on nursery...i harvested eggs....it was only when i went to bakery farm to start replacing my almond orchards...well...now that gold is gone... and the now redundant 2nd farm...u know the one..the one that used to have a restaurant that made money...and enjoyable to play...now sits empty and running at a huge loss...

u are making it easy to walk away.....i don't know how many times we have asked for a simple safe guard to be put in place......not everyone plays on large screens...i play on a laptop.....

im on level 82 and have been playing for about 14 months...this game used to be enjoyable...now i will walk away ....we have asked and begged for a simple safeguard but for some reason ggs said no...so im saying no to u....

This might save a player or two from having the same thing happen so I'll post what I do. Any expensive blue building that isnt upgraded stays far away from my production buildings. I keep my eggs in the SW corner of my farm with a clear view to click on them as easily as possible.

so i don't have to continuously scroll sideways and up and down i have all my production and harvesting stuff together...if i have it the size that i can look at my whole farm that was just to risky with the click of a mouse so i have it on medium view which gives me a view of 1/2 the farm...therefore im limited to where i can put my production stuff....
because they wont give me the OPTION of having a safe guard in place i will no longer be buying gold for my farm or my children s farms.....they still want to play occasionally...but sadly for me the co op will have to go as i wont be playing much now....THANK YOU GGS... YOU ARE SAVING ME MONEY.....

I couldnt agree more, the safeguard has been asked for countless times by countless people. it would be a million times easier to do than re doing a whole farm. i think its very shady that they dont do it. its one of two reasons that i cant stand this game anymore the other is the crap re do on the gormeat farm plus today i lost all my gold on a bs click

Due to the massive feedback on this, we're already working on it :) We want to keep it within the game's style and gameplay though, but what I heard sounds pretty cool ^^

upgrade a decoration if you can all the time demolish it all the time. or a coop...always have something building if you can. this is the only thing you can do if you have the extra space and the extra $$$. this is what i do. It doesn't save you from all the accidents but it will save you from alot of them. Sorry to hear about you upgrading that nursery. I've done things like this before. It shouldn't happen.

Best safeguard there is. Put the credit card out of reach.

That put an end to my accidental spending. Now if they really do put in some kind of gold lock I may try a few things. Or not. The endless blasting of gold only stuff in my face is really getting so annoying I just want to do exactly what I do with the TV. Change the channel or just turn it off.

They are working on a fix. Rumor has it that they will just take your gold as soon as you buy it. This way you will NEVER lose your gold on a misclick.

Seriously. Been asked for 50,001 times. Not holding my breath.

    Hello GGS,

In 2014 there were hints of a feature being designed to prevent people from accidental gold spending.

Some of the board managers even spoke of it, saying it was in the works, but to be patient and wait. It was on its way.

Unfortunately I was rearranging my gourmet farm tonight and tried to move my water tower to a new spot on the farm. And guess what happened? The tower began to upgrade to level 3 and 13000 in gold was gone, in a fraction of a millisecond :( no wait, ;(

I sent a ticket to GGS but I think I already know the answer. But I really hope that someone can help with this, and credit the gold back.

If we can win prizes as gold and progress be reversed on the island farm, I truly believe that there can be a way to reverse my water tower upgrade and put the 13000 gold back into my account.

    Fingers crossed.

I have always been wondering why there is no question "Do you really want upgrade...."
It can not be that hard, there already is a question "Do you really want to demolish...", with those bushes, when you buy land.

Before I upgrade an item, I wish it would ask "Do you really want to upgrade the xxxx" and maybe the amount you are about to spend.

Every few months, I have a brain fart and accidentally click the "upgrade" button instead of the "feed" button. This last time, it cost me around 30,000 gold, which I had, but could not afford to spend. It doesn't ask for verification, it just starts the upgrade, and there is no way to cancel the operation.

It asks you if you really want to demolish something. Why not ask if you really want to upgrade something, as well? Especially if the upgrade will cost gold?

Two days ago I accidentally upgraded the mill on the viking farm which I never intended to. I was half sleeping and instead of beginning production clicked on the upgrade. Well, I laughed so hard :D I know it's sad and stupid at the same time but this was really the first time I actually screwed up something in the game.

Ok, so I spent a lot of money that I could have used somewhere else.. But the biggest problem was that I didn't have enough free workers and didn't want to build more houses. BUT there is no way back AT ALL, not even a chance to demolish the buliding without workers which I find extremely stupid so.. I had to build one more house and wasn't really happy bout it but these things just happen. It's just a game :)

Why am I telling you all this? I don't know really but what I do know is that GGS will never agree with any kind of warning or anything that would prevent you from spending gold because of the cycle "accidentally spending gold - buying new gold - hooray, income for GGS". But I've been wondering if GGS has ever thought about a somewhat different cycle "accidentally spending gold - hating this game - leaving this game - no money for GGS". Just a thought...

    Update:

I got a very fast response from GGS. It's not encouraging :(

[Support message removed. Please check the Community Guidelines for more information. | Wabbit]

Like I said, I can win gold and get credited for that, GGS can reverse progress on farms, but it can't refund gold in the form of a credit and reverse the upgrade to the time just prior to it being done so?

Being a business, there should be a way for the customer to have a satisfying interaction with a company. In most cases, you can return a purchase for a refund or get credit for a future purchase with that company, if done in a timely matter.

GGS is a business, I appreciate that. But what I don't appreciate is the statement they are saying, that you can purchase gold, and use it to make "GOLD PURCHASES" in the game, but not get a refund or credit to future purchases with GGS.

At least that is the sentiment I am seeing from the response I got. So in this case, as a customer, I'm not satisfied with the product. But unfortunately, GGS does not realize the importance of having a system in place to meet their customers' needs if they are unsatisfied. And the even more frustrating part is that there IS that safe-check in place for demolishing things on the farm. If it's been coded in already, why hasn't it been done for gold-purchased upgrades to buildlings? JUST BUILDINGS I AM SAYING!

I absolutely understand that refunding every accident similar to speeding up time to harvest, would be extremely time consuming and a wasteful process for GGS to do. Paying their employees to do all that work would probably cost them more in overtime.

    BUT...

These UPGRADES. Not so. THEY COST A LOT and can empty out a frugal-minded player's gold account very quickly.

How does that make other customers feel? I'd like to hear your feedback.

Perhaps, when you click on "Upgrade," a panel would pop up asking if you really want to upgrade this item. In the same panel, it would have a button to "Downgrade" the item, but you could not downgrade twice in a row. You could only downgrade the latest upgrade. And maybe there would be a 10-20% fee to downgrade. So, if you downgraded, instead of receiving your 10,000 gold back, you'd only get 8,000-9,000 gold returned to your account. After all, it would presumably be to "undo" a mistake you've made. That way, the game developers would get to keep some of the gold, and you could only downgrade once per upgrade.

So...I just lost 20k gold by accidentally hitting the upgrade button for my mine....yes I'm a dope lol but seriously we do need an "are you sure" button for things like that......I've seen others do similar things and no way to cancel or do anything about it.
I suggest an "are you sure" button for any upgrade that requires gold, as this costs real money for a lot of ppl, and yes maybe its a mistake of a button press or something like that, but still, what a waste of gold..........;(

I accidently upgraded fertile field I was clicking to sow cursor slipped. Soon as started, wanted to cancel, have no workers spare, yes could build another house to Steve arrives but cannot expand more,do not want another house, even for short while so field standing idle to Steve comes. Also now short of gold for water towers, which are priority An "are you sure" button would save me a ton of gold. Also may buy + spend more gold if not so nervous of making costly mistakes

Since there is a confirm screen to demolish a building,

    then...

there should be a confirm screen for upgrading a building too.

(( I just made big brain-fart, clicked too fast, and upgraded a building that wasnt suppose to be upgraded yet... dont have enough workers... so now I'll need to build a temp worker house... then demolish the error upgrade... then demolish the temp house. and rebuild that building to its proper level again. :S ))

Maybe a down-grade option would be nice too.

You seem to already have the answer to the problem. All you need to do is take your time to make sure you don't make the same mistake again. Chalk it off to a lesson learned. :)

Oh, I was so mad at myself a day or so ago, over 3000 gold down the drain for a piece of land on the island I didn't even want to have!!
I would really have loved an 'are you sure you want to use gold?' button.... But it was my own fault.

I do agree with FarmerJohn! I once accidentally spent gold (1600!!) - banged my head against the wall (because I was the only one to blame), laughed about it later (because I was the stupid one to do it) and promised myself to be more prudent in the future. Well, it never ever happened to me again (just because of paying more attention and being more prudent - so lesson learned)!

Yes this has happened to me and it is always important to just double check instead of being click happy like me. And I have also learned to be careful in regards to letting grandkids play my game. My granddaughter demolished one of my level 7 barns and I had to build the whole thing over again. I was just glad it wasn't the water tower she demolished!

Happened to me recently after the architect appeared. I was going to upgrade one of my orchards but I harvested my chickens first and suddenly I noticed it was upgrading the gate. Must have clicked on it by mistake since the chicken coops run beside it. Why do I need more happiness when it is a work farm?
  • I have been looking to see if anyone have had this problem.

This week overnight I upgraded a field to level 5.     In the morning I clicked to send 2 workers to the field which they did, then I realised the field remained at level 4  so where are the workers? I now do not want to upgrade anything as I may lose more workers. Has anyone had this problem recently?

I have sent a help request  to customer support.

I'm always a happy farmer let's keep it that way.
