Task 2 Knock on wood: Produce 600 Rustic Viking Tankards, Collect 3900 wood

Can you please change Task 2 of Chapter 2 to say "COLLECT 600 Rustic Viking Tankards, Collect 3900 wood"?

What is on your first page is not correct, because if it says produce, it could be interpreted as the task being one that counts each time the tankards are started. However, the task could be started earlier than task 1 ending, because this task 2 needs tankards to be collected to count towards it.

I know that I won't remember this next time, and will use your page to reference when the viking farm comes around. There might be other people thinking that this task means to start production (i.e. produce) of tankards but the task actually says "collect" them.

    Thank you :)

You may want to check out the sheet over here rather:

It is a bit more up to date and can easily be updated. I am not sure how often the keeper of this thread checks in.

    Question.

If you finish the island tasks and all 3 chapters of the books will you have enough runestones for the duck coop or do you need to do more than just complete everything?

Sorry 1st time trying to complete island and was hoping that would make enough runestones.

You would not even have enough runestones for the stone of light (or pearl of motivation on the tropical island). Last time I just about managed to get 40M runes. So you need a lot a lot a lot more production to make it to that duck coop. You will need to run only Cozy Viking Coat (or Tropic Star on the tropical island) for the last so many days. I would estimate at least last 10 days or even longer. Only when you are able to run those back to back and sell them you will be able to get the duck coop I think.

viking duck coop and island cowshed is not just "time-based" or "dollar based" either. even if spend 24 7 online and spend 1000mil+, it's simply impossible to get those buildings without alot of gold. and this is not a complaint btw, i'm just being honest.

Yes - all runestones you gained can be found back in the menu of the runestone-trader (Blue truck). If you do not trade them for tropical seeds this time, they still will be there next time when the NL-Island comes back and you can continue collecting them.

Hello, I tried searching around forum but don't seem to find what I am looking for. Wondering if anyone has posted a helpful spreadsheet for a "follow along" kind of thing for the Viking Farm. A player has made one for the Island Farm called: Island Farm 3 Pago Pago, which was EXTREMELY helpful. I was able to follow along and make my own adjustments. Anyone has notes that is willing to post and share with everyone here? Its definitely greatly appreciated! :)

So far, all 3 temporary farms have been identical with just the names of things changed, so if you like the one that you have, you could use that & replace peacocks with penguins, lemurs with seals, etc.

Yep, this one is definitely use-able for the Viking farm as well: https://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/how-to-complete-the-island-without-using-gold/

All you need to do is replace the Tropical buildings/products for the Viking equivalents. Bar = Workshop, Mangos = Tree grove, Coconuts = Berries, Bananas = Sheep, Tropic Star Drink = Viking Coat, etc.

one of my farms the one with the the snow dollars and penguins and stuff dissapeared. Still have the pond with the gooseberries and stuff but can't get more rhinestones or anything to load on the ship because I lost everything else.

    Hi BigSleesim,

The Northern Lights farm, as well as, the Viking & Island farms, are temporary farms that are part of an event & each one only stays for 30 days, so that you can collect as many runestones (or shells) as possible during that time. When they are demolished at the end of the 30 days, everything is converted into runestones & you should find those in your inventory under the objects tab. The runestone trader stays for an additional 3 days, so that you can continue to spend your runestones on seeds - Keep an eye on his timer, as he will be gone soon. You will be able to get more when the next temporary farm event starts.

What I want to know now is: Is the timer right? It says this event lasts 31,5 days, day more than candy farm, 2 days more than Island/Viking normal running time.

Edit: Northern lights, not normal Vikings? This actually works better for me, but seems a bit odd. It's been longer since they were here and it's summer in the northern hemisphere.

Is that regular Viking farm ever coming back? Or has it been shelved or even replaced by Northern Lights? I would love to have a shot at getting those regular Viking decos for my deco tower too. I did not play it the first time it ran and after that it had vanished. Could a CM shed some light on that? Should I hope for a normal Viking farm some day or just let go of that and move on with the NL, Tropical and Candy farms?

Not a mod (obviously) but there are only 3 types of Temporary farm currency, so it would be logical to assume there are only 3 types of temporary farm.

Logic is quite a tricky concept for some. :) What would be illogical about having 3 or 5 different farms with the same currency? :):);) So I too would wish to read some comments from CM about the matter. :)

PS: I have a faint memory of CM commenting on that before, but am not going to search for it....... :)

Because logic is about patterns. If all the patterns go one way, it is logical to assume they will continue that way. Of course, that in no way guarantees that the pattern will continue that way. Just the way to bet, if one must try and anticipate. Because of course, everyone knows the saying about assumptions. :)

Not trying to troll or anything, and in the nicest possible way... I am hoping my logic is better than your logic, Yakoska. There is an entire floor of the deco tower devoted to the original Viking farm, including the 3x3 penguin deco which I prefer to the seal deco of Northern Lights. Some people either weren't playing when the original happened, or skipped it for whatever reason, and would now like those decos. It's not game-breaking if it never showed again. But it does fail to consider the opinions of some of us, that it should.

No worries Chalaryl. Unfortunately there are also Telescopes in the deco tower, which are neither decos, nor available anymore. I got all of them the first time, so I don't really have a horse in the race. I hope I'm wrong for those of you who couldn't/didn't do the Viking the first time.

Thanks Manish. I got all the hidden decos.

As a first timer to the NL farm, I have a few queries if anyone could answer:
Do we start collecting penguins since we've tasks that require us to, or wait till we get a task that specifically asks us to. Same with wood, etc.
If I collect herrings, penguins or wood before, will they be counted for tasks later?
Also should I build an algae pond to get humus?
    Thanks.

If you build/upgrade something and later get a task to do that, you will complete that task, however if you produce/grow something & then get a task for that, it will only count things harvested after the task was opened.

Humus is good, because it increases the amount of Herrings/Sardines/Flax that you get from your fields, but again, if you don`t want it, you don`t HAVE to make it. You get rewards for building/demolishing stuff, so there is that to consider too.

There is another guide over here: https://bigfarmtips.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/how-to-complete-the-island-without-using-gold/

And of course the spreadsheets on the spreadsheet page show all the tasks that are up and coming.

Yakoska: I know that would be logical, but that entire deco tower floor leaves me asking anyway. I do not have the top telescope reward as it was impossible to get on our server, fine, I rest my case over that one. I will never get it. But an entire empty deco floor staring at me, as a deco collector, is kind of annoying the crap out of me. I know there may be a possibility for GGS to run the original Viking farm again, or they would not have remade all the decos (could have just remade the farm into a NL farm and leave the decos the way they were, right? They did the same with the decos you can buy for runes...).
