How come sometimes I get a better score than the other horse but I still lose?

That's what we discussed in this whole thread so far (an the "No Winnings" one and the official one).

So this new farm is an all round fail. After a few days of patiently waiting for training areas to upgrade, loosing challenges, upgrading, loosing challenges, upgrading and still loosing it's clear that the results of challenges are stacked against the player. Yesterday I played 12 challenges and lost all of them despite training in between each set. There's no way to devise a playing strategy, no way of assessing the probability of a win and so no point in investing my time in a pointless click fest.

How intensive training did you use (how many horseshoes per training)?
What is the level of your horse?
What is the level of oponents horses?

Keep in mind, that oponents horses level up much more rapidly that your own. For the first time, my horse won 4 or 5 races before it lost its first. Now I win one (maybe two) and soon my horse would need couple of trainings before it would be able to win anything. I am using 800 horseshoes per training (82 TP).

Regarding the training "slider" apparently there is a maximum efficiency level for the effectiveness of training.

If you make the training too intensive (by going up to the maximum no. of horseshoes) the horse gets "strained" and it's not as efficient in winning you points/competitions as it is if you keep the slider in the beginning of the "orange" zone

Discussion thread for the horse ranch update is what I'm using to figure this out ... gradually.

yes I figured out you can't train the horse faster than a certain point but I would like to know where the thread is for the horse ranch update is, because I just trained the horse some more won one race enough now to have upgraded the second training area to level 2 but it looks like now it is going to get so hard to win a race that any gold horseshoes to improve the ranch are going to be impossible to get now. I have no guidance as to how to train the horse because my stable panel contains no info at all and just clicking on the training areas is also useless because no matter which one you click on it tells you completely different things are needed for training. Basically it makes no sense. I feel like I am wasting my time and my horseshoes. I can't find any place that keeps track of the stars, the amount of training done in each area, [stupidly I have not been writing it down] so you know what you are getting per horseshoe spent and how well trained your horse is and what he/she needs more work on in order to win races and level up. I don't even know where the level up info is, ie how many stars does it take to level up to the next one etc. I think until the upgrade I will do minimal training and not waste horseshoes until I know more.

Don`t feel bad not finding the stars, I don`t think anyone has yet, thats what originally started this thread, but along the way there has been some great info added. Checkout post #33 by MoonionsRule, you might find that answers some of your questions. ^^

I know we have been working on the new horse ranch for less than a week, but the consensus seems to be "confusing".
I've done the same as most other farmers, train then lose, train then lose, repeat for several days now.
I've tried most intensive to less intensive training, have not found the correct balance to be competitive and win horseshoes. (which are needed for the arena upgrades, 240 per arena for L3 > L4 upgrade; 720 total and only 104 in my inventory).
So maybe a tutorial from GGS would be helpful at this point, or at least some explanations of how to help Rose be more successful in her new ranch endeavor.

No, the consesus is that it doesn't matter what you train, you won't win what you think you trained for, because from level 5-6 on you need too many horseshoes, and you will lose most competitions. At most, with 4000 shoes/the max per training, I win a single competition every 2 training sessions, ie. once a day the most. As per usual, this is meant to be long term, and we are not meant to win more. It's just infinitely more frustrating, because at first we did win something, only to ground to a stand still, and because there were such detailed instructions, only the displays are all over the place.

You use them to upgrade the ranch facilities.

You know you can find lots of answers by reading the other threads regarding the horse ranch.

Moderators - Why do we need 3 threads about the horse ranch? IOM all 3 threads as talking about the same thing. I prefer 1 main thread about the Horse Ranch, so we don't have to look so many places, be so repetitive, etc. Having so many different threads about the Island was really confusing and SOOOO repetitive! It seems like the same thing is happening to the Horse Ranch Threads.
When will there be another update to the Horse Ranch? Thank You

hola Horse ranchers !! This is what I have discovered so far, trying to race your horse is very important - you need to be collecting the competition horseshoes , so you can upgrade the training grounds for your horse ;)
The higher the level of the training ground - the more points, your Horse gets after the 4hrs !!
for example lvl3 training ground , lets your Horse earn 263 points (4,000 horseshoes , intensive training), so you getting more points in same time, for same price :)

Another thing I have learned - the blue stars , next to George , Lester & Tess indicate how many times, your horse won with each of them. Tricky thing is - once he wins more, the competitors level goes up as well ...

I race - till I hit cooldown , and when that happens - my horse goes to training again !! (cooldown 3hrs, training 4hrs, it works )

Now the points for your Horse - the levels for Endurance, Agility, Jumping - that's how many points you need to hit the next level. I did notice for higher levels you need more points , ergo for level 1 we needed 4pts (I think) for lvl6 you need 300+ points , lvl7 from looks of it is almost 400-450 points....

just wanted 2 let u know that if u go down 2 800 horseshoes then u will maintain the earning 2 training points for every 20 horseshoes but it u increase above that the amount of training earned per 20 horseshoes goes down 2 1 training point so doing the max of 4000 horseshoes will truly b a waste of your horseshoes when u can get 400 training points yes it takes more time but this way u get the most from your horseshoes. :):):):)

I know what you mean. I have achieved maximum training on my horse (level 10) it still loses against a 7 across the board. What is the point of training? Where do the gold stars go? Where do we go from here? When do we get another horse, or what?

where are they? What are they for?

Where do those yellow stars go that you get after training your horse? It looks like it goes to my collection box but I can't see them.

The yellow stars are 'xp' for your horses, they are not stored but used to increase your horses training skills.

You get golden horseshoes when you take part in the the horse tournament. You will get the highest amount from challenging other players, especially if you win.
You can also challenge the three in-game characters, George, Tessa and Lester.

At your stable, click the car and then select the competition icon (it's the on the lower right in the circle). Now have a look around the tabs!
