Praise: Who's Changed Their Mind About the Horse Ranch?

So we have had traumatic expensive Islands, chaotic ships, confusing training & breeding and more bugs than an entomologists laboratory, but I have to admit, I am finally starting to enjoy the whole Horse Ranch thing!

Its still got some way to go, with ironing out the wrinkles & adding the final stages, but it seems to be coming together as fun addition to farming. I only did part of the 1st Island and all of the 1st Viking Farm, I had a couple of months with ships every 12 hours instead of 6 & I made a lot of mistakes with training & breeding, but despite all that I have still managed to drag a horse into the gold (almost platinum) league & to be honest, if I can do it, anyone can lol

Its been nice to interact with players outside of my coop, since solo missions pretty much put an end to that recently & its interesting to see the challenges change colour as different people progress through the leagues. I find myself looking forward to what is coming next, instead of dreading it.

So, despite my earlier reservations, good work GGS!! - Now get them bugs fixed, so its a bit less confusing & I think you may have developed an enjoyable event!! YeeeHaww!! 9ca311248c483fe9a42d4282c71455d9.gif

PS How about some jousting next? horse.gif

OK, i admit too that is bit more interesting, cos i'm still clicking : start - skip - back, start - skip - back and so on .... click click click. I don't even look who i'm up against with. It doesn't really matter, it's more about luck than skill. All that matters is how many races you can do.
I have a fairly good horse, also at gold league, losing more than winning, even at lower level horses. But that's ok , i really don't mind. I just want to see how far i can go in the ~month. The whole horse thing is just an extra, when i don't have anything else to do. And if i win a prize or two , even better! Happily galloping under the perpetual sunny & clear, sunless sky :)
I can almost smell the air, it's a bit humid today, isn't it? like rain coming....

HI Scissors, I have to agree I like the horse ranch a bit more now and thought its going to be a long steady but worth while haul. But I have a feeling all that is going to change very very soon.
I love your little jousting horse ! or is that GGS talking and kicking it out of the way !

i liked the idea of the horse ranch from the start is fun but GG could save themselves a lot of head aches by replacing the wagon and all it involves by just putting a dice in its place so we can just click on it to roll a six to win or any other number to loose as thats really all the horse challenges are pure luck, no skill involved at all,
great part of the game but its just done in a crap way

Wait until its all messed up when they bring in the predicted " buy with GOLD" . Nothing on this site is a bug or an error, It is all part of how GGS want us to play, If our horses trained well etc and won races there would be no need for us to spend money "buying " better horse's

You're a lovely bit of sunshine, aren't you Yorkie?

A lot of things are genuine bugs, I think. GGS does their best to solve them and usually they do get solved.

It is a bit more fun BUT the rewards are not worth what we put into the island to get the horseshoes to run the horsefarm...

Agreed, financially, the rewards are not worth it... But, in the very beginning of it all, it was stated that the temp farms were meant for the big time players who had nothing better to do with their money. And the horses/horseshoes are part of the temp farm process! So, when it doesn't amount to much except being something to use up money, it shouldn't be a big surprise!!! That was the intended purpose from the very beginning, the temp farms/horses/greenhouse were created as a new something to keep the high level players from getting bored! :|

What we do with these things as small to moderate level farms is up to us... I don't push it, just try some things out on occasion. Haven't finished an island, have progressed fairly far with my horses all in all, and don't see a purpose for any of it but to spend money and do something different. But I enjoy having the something different to figure out. Lots of select, skip, back, select, skip, back for competitions. Takes about 5 minutes a day, not very involved really. Most interesting thing is coming up with names for my horses honestly! But it is something different, I don't hate it.

Yep, Scissors, I changed my mind about the horse tournaments/ranch.... :p

Slowly growing into it, understanding everything better and better, and having fun nowadays in competing. Not moving as fast as you guys do, but that doesn't matter to me. I don't need to reach the platinum league in 2 weeks! ;)

I agree. I'm really enjoying the Competition (also on Gold level)

However, I do think the prizes could be a bit more exciting. For instance my next prize, for Gold level 1, is 5 toolboxes. Can't imagine anyone getting too ecstatic over that... And the prize for finishing in the diamond league is only 10,000 horseshoes. I can get that from one ship! Considering the amount of effort we have to put in to get horseshoes and do the training, you could be a bit more generous!

Its you who is the Sunshine Lady. Virtually every thread you post how wonderful GG$ is. And your post wasn't even removed for getting too personal and namecalling.

I changed my mind and was finding it enjoyable to breed an excellent horse, a long term project.

I have now changed it back again because you cannot get excellence without spending gold to work the super attributes into the breeding program.

I thought it said you can buy the new horses with gold horseshoes, at least thats what I am planning on doing, the one good thing about these challenges is if you keep doing them you get gold shoes win or lose, I just hope I have saved up enough....Guess we will find out today!

Yes you can buy horses with gold horseshoes, and presumably they will have some better attributes. However, the patch notes clearly state that the gold-purchased horses will have much better attributes. It feels like trying to paint with a primary colour missing, the picture will never be the best it could have been.

Sad to say, all my horse offers include gold. So yeah, that's a big disappointment.

Yes, I agree 100%!!! Prizes should be better. Come on, in bronze and silver league they give dung for reaching some levels and even more dung if you finish in this league at the end of the season?! How nice is that?!
I mean, no, this is a bit sad and stinky prize. In my opinion, well, that can be funny at some point, maybe one prize like this but in general I think they should replace it. At least with apples. The dung is just a sad thing to get as a prize in the competition, isn't it? 8|

Lol,maybe because I don't go to mean namecalling.
If you look at my posts, they are seldom about how wonderfull GGS is and if I don't agree with something, I will definitely say it too! With the 'buy your rep points' thing, I very clearly stated how low and stupid I found that.

But I will say something to people who blame the game while their own strategy is off.

About the horses, I am having more and more fun with them!

Agree, they need to re-work the prizes, a LOT!! I have well over 100,000 dung in storage and that is still with running my silos constantly! What in the world do I need more dung for? No value to me at all...

I am not too worried about this run of the horse tournament, if I do make it to gold level, then great, but I'll wait and try harder when they try harder too (as in making some changes to prizes etc) the next round, or why bother really? I play the islands for the prizes maybe, but once complete, I don't think I'll ever do them again. No reason! Don't need the horseshoes if this is all it gets me. :S

I can only hope they make some adjustments to the horse tournament, and now the horse shop, or it really isn't anything of value to the game. Entertainment if you are super bored, yes, but not a valuable part of the game at all. :( Was so hopeful too... It needs some work.
