I'm not sure I agree about "unfairly matched". GGS has to pick from the folks who want a mission in a 5-minute period. I'm guessing that we're getting the best they can find. I haven't been matched with any 200-level players yet, and I know those folks are on _a lot_. If they narrowed the criteria, I think the tradeoff would be getting more solo missions. Personally, I'll take the matches I'm getting over the solo missions I sometimes get.
Plus what's with the scary avatar. it is not a fighting game...just saying .:S
Yes this is true, but mission started at certain times and length or mission varied from 30mins to 24hrs, depending on what you wanted to do.
Missions were not continuous, which was a downfall. Rewards were different as well.
I did like the old format where you could select your mission. But they could have been changed to run more often with similar rewards as present missions.

yep, until the update happened that was the way it was. the only problem was that you had to wait til a certain time for it to happen, the ones i reemember started at 2am my time, do not know about anyone else
Now onto the current update, has anyone changed their mind about the new missions? I for one am refusing to use gold. GGS has found a way to encourage use by players and you will in a likelyhood, see more players using it to get more reputation points to win the missions. It just shows how (putting it mildly) GGS is trying to force people to use gold.
To be frank, I do buy gold, but i use it on things like buildings, skipping productioon when the architect is here, library books, and researchers, that is where my gold comes into use.
I agreew that you have to play missions, but really, how hard is it to get the minimum required for the island (30 certs) i think. Just play some missions using minimum playing and you could have enough to last for a long time. I know it is a pain, but, you should be able to get at least 200 certs that will last for about a year

However, the effect of the floating bracket system is to penalize winners regardless of how we win; we are placed into successively higher brackets until we start to lose. Losers are rewarded for losing; they face successively weaker competition until they start to win missions. The plain truth is that we are all rewarded more or less equally for the simple number of missions we play; how we play them is of no account in the long run.
I don't think I care particularly what mission system is in place; but it should reward players who work harder or smarter.
completely possible and fair. they had nursery seeds planted w/ or w/o humus that were ready or almost ready to harvest when the mission started. Some people sit out their flower missions waiting for the corn so they can harvest several fields of nursery corn.
I am not a gold player, sometimes I have nursery seeds of flowers or corn planted but not often when the right mission pops up. I don't care. I don't watch the missions that close they are just something I do in the background when I am playing. Sometimes I hold a harvest (for dung/eggs/corn/flowers) near the end of a mission to see if I need it in the next one. It is luck of the draw. I don't get upset if someone has a super large harvest or if by luck of the draw I get dung first thing in the morning and have everything waiting so I win. Sure winning is nice but there are a lot of people playing and we can't all win. If someone wants to gold every mission more power to them, it is not changing my game. I still harvest all I can for the 30 mins because it will sill give me more certs than giving up because I see I can't win. People used gold in the old missions, people did preplanned planting etc to be ready when it started just like they do now. At least our rep points count for something now (the challenge) and we earn certs which help with tractors and improve the farm.
Sweetheart, gold users make this game free for you.
exactly...and are why we don't have pesky ads on the screen for insurance, cars, loans, etc. Nothing in life is free
Like I said I am not a big gold player, I use some but most of what I have bought was invested in the co-op. This is my choice to play the game my way, to improve my farm slowly. I know some very advanced farms who never bought any gold at all, I know some that buy gold every week what they have in common is they enjoy the game and the people they play with in the co-op and do it their way.
Using gold in a mission is not cheating or having an unfair advantage it is a choice. Being mad because someone uses gold to beat you is also a choice. It is a game, have fun, let it go.
In my limited experience, rewards are issued in direct correlation with the amount collected.
wildflowers, for example.... 17000 collected in 30 mins will get me near 500 certificates.
4000 collected with no gold or special seeds will still be 200+ certificates.
These numbers are roughly the same if I am playing against five others, or playing against myself...as is the case a lot lately.
yes....those are usually a win.... but that's not the point.
The point is you compete for the certificates....the more product you produce, the more certificates you earn.
I wanted to add my opinion to this topic. I agree with a lot of you on the fact that there should be a division of gold use vs. no gold use. I think that would even the odds a lot.
However, I also feel that there should be longer missions (hour long to 6 hour long) to collect things like apples and cabbage. Maybe have missions involving collecting honey or jasmine from the flower farm or pies/baked goods from the gourmet farm. Or better yet, collect fallen leaves from all the orchards! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am tired of collecting corn, wild flowers, eggs and dung! It is getting very boring.
I try to keep my missions going throughout the day collecting what I can in reputation points and certificates. I use minimal amounts of gold on occasion, but not very often as I can't afford to. I get frustrated when I have a mission and am doing really well only to have someone with a lot more gold than I come blow me out of the water at the last minute.
Anyway, not to beat a dead horse, but a division of gold use and no gold use would be good. I don't think you need to change the amount of reward (other than with the gold they will get a bigger reward by collecting more).
In reading through some of the other treads, the one that stands out the most is a chat for mission....that would be fun and would help people get to know each other. I know I have "talked" with people I have been in missions with before via the messenger, but a chat for the mission would make it easier.
Well, there is my two cents worth. I hope it helps.
Example: Co-op is doing Straw-brained or cabbage head and your mission comes up with corn or wild flowers. I have eight fields, 4 with wheat and 4 with cabbage for the co-op where am I supposed to put corn or wild flowers??
Before you say it, I do not buy gold often and right now the island is robbing me of what little I do have. Will I be doing any missions soon, probably not.
I refuse to do it but I think of it this way.
How much longer deo you plan on playing big farm? for the rest of your life? because that is what it amounts to, the island is just temporary just like playing this game. I know I may sound stupid when i ask that, but I believe it is something everyone should think of when saying using gold is stupid.
Personally I was matched up on the levels of 20 against people that were on level 100 or above!
I also agree with several points on this poll!
Level/reputation plays a big roll. It should also be divided up so those that can't/wont use gold has their own missions. Trying to use gold should then "lock you up".
I ALSO agree with knowing who you're going up to (if not divided into ranges of different levels) and be able to choose is very important. Also. It should be listed what the prizes are in advance.
So basically. ALL the things in the poll are all very good! But the best are about the gold and levels!
I also wonder why some take part in these mission and do absolutely nothing????? Has that to do with the reputation or????
The thing I'd most like to change is to get rid of Wild Flower missions. I never grow wild flowers, so if I get one of those missions I either have to stop what I'm growing and grow flowers, or ignore it, both of which are annoying. Also, the rewards are rubbish compared to what you can get from eggs and dung.
Re the other suggestions:
1. Having gold / non-gold missions sounds like a good idea, but it won't happen. The reason - from my experience, not many people use gold. Therefore the number of people doing the 'gold' missions would be very small, meaning those who did them wouldn't have many (if any) opponents, meaning that it wouldn't be worth them using gold. Gold usage would therefore decrease, and GoodGame wouldn't like that, therefore it won't happen.
2. 'Show the number of competitors before the mission starts'. Sorry, but this is dumb. How can the game know how many people are going to sign up in the five minutes?
3. Fix the way competitors are matched up (by Level / Reputation points). Another bad idea. It's difficult enough to get a decent number of opponents as it is at the moment (on my server, anyway). If they made it so you could only play people exactly your level, you'd be playing against yourself for 95% of the time...
Get rid of Wild Flower missions. It's the only way to go
If we were choosing one to get rid of, I would choose corn & I am sure you could find another person that would choose dung & another saying eggs lol
There are probably not many people with farms that are ideal for all 4 at a high level, so everyone will have their own preferences, I know for a fact there are people that LOVE Wildflowers, personally I don`t mind them either.
I'm lvl 46 and I was up against a 92, 100, 110, 130, and a 149. Don't say yeah but you'll still receive something, because at this rate I'll get the several hundred certs I need this time next year.;( and that''s just for 1 upgrade. btw I came in 5th and got 4 certs. "sigh"....
I don't really know if it's the right place to post this, but I didn't wanted to open a new topic... for my fisrt time on the forum.. I lost my way trying to find where to post...
Sorry.. I just wanted to share what happened to me for my very first mission on the game :
For a very first mission, I was very surprised to face such high levels... No need to tell you what was my final ranking...
Just wanted to know if it was a "normal" or an odd situation.
I don't want to complain as I just arrived on this nice game.
Have fun!
EDIT
Well, finally my second and my current third mission gave me the answer... It's "normal" to face players up to 63 levels ahead mine... I'm not ready to win one before... a long time I suppose...
I am not really complaining yet... just feeling a bit grumpy...
Have fun!
Add: This unfair competition happens to me even when the coop mission challenges are on, and when there are a lot of competitors available at my level...yet even then I still get unfairly matched. So it makes the coop challenge unfair for me too.
