The level selection process seems a bit backwards to me. I mean, once you've done the hardest difficulty, you've proved you can do... well... the hardest difficulty. What's the point then in giving you a choice of easier ones ONLY after you've done the hardest?

I would think the choice for easier difficulties should be available as you continue to unlock the ranks. So at my level, 29, I should be able to select the first two difficulty levels, and not just be stuck with what difficulty the game thinks I "should" be doing (I'm over-leveled for the state of my farm, so all of these events are almost impossible for me to complete).

If I could select an easier difficulty, I would. As it stands, though, I don't see a point in participating in any more of these big events until I'm way above lvl 60 and can comfortably complete the hardest difficulty. That means being locked out of many good deco items that I need in the meantime to balance happiness on my farms.

Just seems very backwards to me.

The difficulty choice has not been introduced for those that have problems completing a certain difficulty, but for the higher levels that still miss some decos for the deco tower. When the events were introduced, my account was on level 3 already. Once the deco tower came I would have had no chance getting the decos from a lower difficulty level if it wasn't for the difficulty choice they introduced a while after. Some people do not care about the deco tower, but I like to try and collect all the decos for the tower, it is fun.

RunsWivScissors, my point was I'd want to select an easier difficulty, not the hardest one.

    It was very helpful,Thank You.

It is very hard for me to complete the events.I mean i try my hardest to complete them but i can't.I am on my farm daily. Please help.

So in order to choose the difficulty level,i would need to complete the event on the hardest level. But it only counts for that event?

    Oh i get it now.Thanks

Jurona- Here is a great link that helped me a lot when I first started playing this game. The first post is very helpful and great advice. Second post has the events that we do in the first one the Camping event is tips on the tasks, each one is detailed and it will help you. The link is here:

    http://en.board.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/showthread.php?78690-General-tips-for-all-the-event

Questions about the game + Tips and Tricks + General tips for all the event

My next tip is when you first log in don't harvest anything until all your farms have loaded, then feed your dog if he needs feeding it helps your running cost. Then look at the top of your farm to see if there is an event sometimes they show up when we are away. See what the event is/what it needs start harvesting for the event, then check your ship give it what it needs, then move on to the bakery harvest it load it back up as much as you can. I always keep bakery maxed. Then if you plan to do missions set up your fields for that while you finish harvesting your other farms. I send this message to my coop occasionally as we sometimes forget to check to see if there is an event after we have harvested then we have to wait for it to be ready again, and for cherries that's a long time.

If you want more advice or help this forum is full of great players who have had every struggle you have and have been at every level you have and they don't mind offering help/advice.

This is just my advice some other players might have some better tips, but its something to think about and at least try.

    Good luck.

You said "What's the point then in giving you a choice of easier ones ONLY after you've done the hardest?" so I was just clarifying that there is a harder level after you can choose, you haven`t already done the hardest one at that point.

But don`t give up trying to get that +74 deco, its not as hard as it appears if you use the spreadsheet to plan ahead, so that you are ready to harvest for each step when you reach it & plus you get rewards for completing each step, so its not a waste even if you don`t reach the end.
The Fairytale one is probably the easiest & with most of them if you get through the 1st 5 steps as fast as possible and leave yourself 2 or 3 days to do the last one you will find it far less stressful imo.

I agree with Gambit's complaint/suggestion about being able to choose a harder level if you're motivated and like the challenge as a lower level player. It was disappointing for me that my level kept going up but I wasn't yet capable to finish the designated level of difficulty at the time, so couldn't complete any event or get any deco.
Even though I haven't advanced far enough, I can appreciate Larino's perspective that later on I can go back to finish the levels I didn't complete, so I can add deco's to my collection.
I would like to suggest that we have it both ways, harder or easier, from the start. If I'm investing in gold, then I can complete events at the most difficult level but obtain the high level deco's as a beginning player.

I clicked on the "once upon a time" to change the difficulty level...but it did not come up so I could.

I did not set it at level 3 but there it remains and here I remain, never winning any of the final rewards !!!

Can you change it to level 2 for me...or fix it so I can ?

    Much appreciation, 8maidsamilking

If you have never finished it on level 3 you can't change levels thats just how it is.

Did you already finished this event on level 3 and placed that decoration on one of your farms? Only then there is a possibility to select what difficulty you want to begin with.

Just looked at your farms and i can't see a +74 fairy tale tower so you probably did not finish this event at level 3 before. Look at the overview of events in my signature and you could manage it.

Unfortunately not in that way. For some reason they only let you choose a difficulty after you've already completed the Hard one. I guess they don't want people getting easy rewards? I'm not sure if the rewards scale with difficulty, but if not, then that's a good reason I suppose.

Whenever you have successfully completed/finished the 3rd level of an event and have built the reward on 1 of yr farms - the next time this same event comes around, you may choose out of 4 levels (the 3 known levels and an especially difficult one: Farm Specialist Level).

BUT: you have to choose this level before you start the event. When you are already playing the event, you can't switch from level anymore!!

    Happy farming! ^^

The possibility to choose difficulty has not been introduced for those that had trouble completing the events, but for those that only got the high level rewards. When the events were introduced my account was of such a high level that I could only run difficulty 3 and get that reward. When later the decoration tower came, I wouldn't have been able to get the lower rewards if it wasn't for the difficulty choice that got introduced soon after. With the choice I was able to collect all the decorations and I do like attempting to collect as many decos as possible; it keeps me busy :)

I have to say, this is another one of those games where to finish a timed task; you have to spend 24/7 on your pc unless you can afford to buy gold! I was having fun up until the timed ones turned up! :( So, I guess I will just plod along and ignore the timed ones, because I don't need the stress!

what determines the difficulty level for the tasks?

What tasks are you thinking of?

The tasks on the side bar to the left depends on what level you are and what level of upgrades you have on your farms.

The tasks during the week-long events are determent based on your level, up to difficulty level 3. Once you've managed to complete the events on 3rd difficulty level you'll be able to chose what level you would like, from 1 to 4.

    Hope this helps!

Once you have done the third level on any event you will then get to choose your level on the same event. Larino has a good spreadsheet for events.

It happens at the very beginning when you click on the event, you have to choose a difficulty level.
I always suggest to start with the Easiest " Stable Boy " make notes of the 6 steps and continue to try and complete it. Once you are able to complete it with 24 - 36 hours left in the event, then it is time to try the next level up. Repeat for each level and you will get to the last one. It does not matter what your player level is really.

First Level = "Stable Boy" Value of decoration for completion = 54
Second Level = "Farm worker" Value of decoration for completion = 64
Third Level = "Big farmer" Value of decoration for completion = 74
Fourth Level = "Farm specialist" Value of decoration for completion = 78

I'm getting a bit confused by your post, Dada King2..
You make it sound like anyone could chose what level they want on their event..

Only players that have managed to complete the third level of an event are able to chose the difficultly the next time that event comes around.
And it does in fact matter what level the player are since the difficultly levels (1-3) are chosen by the game depending on the level of the player..

Thank you Larino. I was able to choose any level of difficulty so I started with the third one, "Big Farmer" and completed it second time through. Mind you my player level was 50 or better at the time, so this may have made the difference. I did not know that the game selected a level for you to start out on.

I am sure that is what confused you ;) I had about the same thing myself. Until I started playing different servers, which were of course lower level and started the event automatically for me based on my level :D Well and besides that, I played many events before the update introduced choosing level, so I knew it was based on level already :D

Last time when I got the camping one, I got to choose the difficult level and that's great. However, this morning when I got the fairytale one, it din't let me choose and pick the difficult level itself. That's annoying.

If this is you first time doing the event it will select the level for you and if you able to complete it then the next time you will be able to select the level you want to do.

I am pretty sure that you need the +74 deco to unlock the 'chose your difficulty' for EACH event. A Mod will come along, I'm sure and tell us which is the case.
