I'll mention here as well....that I think they got the foods for penguins and seals backwards.

IF it mirrors the island...then yes...they have them backwards, i believe

    Hey tscharf,

unfortunately, the library books didn't make it into the game yet. :(

I would have to disagree. There are alot of high level players who have had their main farms done for some time and sitting on lots of money...but nothing to do with it. This is really intended for them, not lower levels who are not well established just yet. This should be seen as a goal for lower levels, not a requirement. To have these events go months at a time without appearing for the reasons you have stated really does not match up with the whole intent and purpose of these events to begin with...which was to give the higher level farmers who are well established something to do. I am not a high level..i am level 71, but i have been able to complete some of the island events to obtain some rewards and seeds...however i don't expect to be able to finish them just yet. I do what i can and enjoy the challenge along the way. When i earn the proper level status and finish all of my farms, i know i will appreciate these temp farms even more to keep me entertained and busy ^^

    Excellent answer DeAnna!!

Dear GGS their community managers. Since you not post the annoncement in other language than english, some of us try to help non-english players on that way, we translate your annoncements and post the translation where non-english players can find them.

But: I don't know about the other translate helpers... But I am not a computer which can translate a so long annoncement in only 1 hour!!!
    - And forget everything about Goole translate and Bing translate and what else the different computer translating programs are called - They all do a so horrible job, that the translation ofen is so bad it is useless. :(

Several other players already have told that the real Vikings 1000 years ago never meet the penguins.
produce Herring, Sardines on a field? - come on GGS, Vikings don't do that.
At the first Herrings and Sardines is saltwater fish - Even in our modern times, I dont think any fish farm breeding saltwater fish on fields on land.
At the second, Vikings was warriors, traders, travellers, and fishermen, they catch wild fish in the sea, rivers and lakes, they do not breeding fish.
    - same about the seals, Vikings cacth wild seals in the nature, they do not breeding seals.

Have all GGS workers sleeping in the school's history, geography, biology and mathematics lessons?

    I second that.

Only let the game makers include some warning at the start of these events for lover levels with explanations. And maybe think about giving gamers power to lock the extra boat compartments if they chose not to play the event after starting it. Other than that, that's exactly as DeAnna says. Great extentions for high level players. Thumbs up for that.

    And...an excellent reply to DeAnna:))

GGS you need to understand that to buy exotic seeds i need ruestone. for that i have to play the game for atleast one day. You send the first ship after the viking farm asking for seeds from this farm.

how do u expect us to earn so many rue stones?

be practical and play the game with us so that you will appreciate our concerns and difficulties

Captain Barnacle always asks stuff before there has been any time to actually produce it. It's not very nice of him.

"All Viking themed greenhouse goods (berries and rose hips) will be required to fill ship slots 5 and 6 once you unlock the Viking farm. Tropical Fruit will no longer be needed until you unlock the Island farm again."

So basically the last month spent on the island will not help me load the ship, I have to do the Viking Island now in order to produce exotic fruit to fill the ship. All this so I can get horseshoes to to train and breed dud horses. Am I missing something? How is this a special treat?

If you don't open the viking farm, the ship will continue to ask for fruit from the island farm. Once you open the viking the ship will ask for viking fruit until you open the island farm again.

yes, but when you get a task on your main farm to visit the island, you do it, and then you are trapped

    decisions decisions....:p

you don't have to do the task though..it's optional^^. It remains there for when you do open the viking at a later time.

    ETA--
I see what your saying as well MRG12, you open it without being aware of the consequences regarding the ship...once done and you realize you can't really afford it your stuck doing the temp farm you unlocked or your ship sits. Yelp, that is a problem unfortunately that ggs really needs to address or make clearer when prompting players to visit the temp farm.

I can afford it, that is not the issue. The issue is I don't want to do it: No time over the holidays and no way am I spending gold. And that they don't tell you about the fact that your other seeds are useless now makes me VERY angry. I will have that ship sitting in the harbour all day when I have tons of the other seeds available.

I was just wondering, what's that house on the cliff to the top right of the farm, is that Santa's house and will it open at midnight on the 24th, full of nice surprises for us, players? 8)

Today, I feel totally let down by the goodgamegtudios strategy... You have proved that this game is meant only for gold users... to fill your own pockets.

Deliberately, this Viking Farm has been timed now, when most players are out of dollars to play... and would have no choice but to buy gold to play.. A very sorry planning.. Today, I am totally disillusioned with this game. And I am sure most players would agree with me on this.

I strongly believe that GGS made a huge mistake in throwing at us another temporary farm just when we finished the other one. Also, they might try to give this Nordic theme a "farm style" but I see very little sense in having a Viking farm. Crafting ancient Nordic artefacts is not what I call farming.

The only thing I see here is another attempt at making players use / buy gold. Also, since the boat now asks for Nordic fruits and berries, you sorta don't have a choice but to play along if you want to keep training your horses. So GGS is forcing it on us, in a way. Sure, you can elect not to play the Viking Island, but that also means that you won't be able to fill your boat and thus, will fall short in horseshoes, short term.

The most ironic thing of all is that they are (GGS) all proud and happy to give us "that surprise". Here peeps! Have another money pit event and merry x-mas to all!!!

Between you and me and the pigs on my main farm, I could have easily done without it.

yes, I totally agree. Another money-grab from GoodGame. Almost at the point of thinking I will quit the game entirely.

    1) Vikings travelled the whole known and unknown world.

    2) The word pengwin originates in the Northern hemisphere, even though it was applied to the Great Auk, Puffins and many other species of flightless black-n-white birds.

My boat still gave me tropical fruit when it came this morning, and that was after I logged into the Viking farm... I'm assuming it won't next time though now.

I am enjoying the farm. Not taking it too seriously. This is the bug run version. Of course it just came after the island, so hard for people who were working on that. Just tell yourself you are missing the buggy versions and save up for the next time it comes. Only play just enough to get a few runestones for the seeds, figure it out and create a strategy for the next round of it! Then you aren't missing so much this time...

I'm taking it slowly today, trying to wait until the fix for the sardine and herring go in to play tomorrow. But enjoying it so far... Hard to come up with Viking-ish names for the farm though. Island ones were fairly easy, but settled for Minnisota for my US Viking farm (football team)... Seems to fit.
