Seaweed sounds interesting, though it seems like it's designed as a 'chase' piece. Be interesting to see if it ends up mattering to most players.

    Looks like a good update.

We will take our findings and use them to create a new option to buy/sell things, which for now we'll call a "market".
There are absolutely no plans whatsoever to take out all 'buy' options completely, but right now, they hurt the game more than they help
Omar will offer you all kinds of deals specifically tailored to your island farm.
Out of ingredients for a cocktail? Omar's cocktail packs might help you out. Short on island dollars? Well Omar will be more than happy to offer you a bargain!

    Somewhat confusing.

they will take away the "buy" with money option, but probably bring out more "buy with GOLD" options

Finally, the hose will reach the tree! No more buckets! Be careful when you move our tree though. It took a lot of hard work to grow it that big :)

So the Island Farm is coming around again in about a week? I'd better start saving.

The island updates sound interesting, but I'm really hoping this update doesn't mean the island is returning again already. If so, I'll probably choose to sit it out this time. I have a lot of upgrades to do on my permanent farms and am not willing to have my build slot tied up again for weeks working on a temporary island. The island can be fun but it is expensive, and most of us have other priorities for our build slot and our farm dollars. Also, it's hard to stay motivated to work on the island when all we get are shells which are converted into horseshoes. That horse thing has got to be the most boring, useless game update ever. Frankly, at this point I'm hoping the next horse update includes a glue factory so I can be rid of the thing.

What are you confused by? Where did you get that first quote? (I didn't see that in announcement) And what does one have to do with the other. I'm pretty sure they don't have anything to do with each other. One is about buying produce to complete projects or make products, and the other is about Omar offereing the sale of items for the Island event.

If you buy books for the Island Farm, do they go away when the island leaves like everything else on the island?

Its Me- from Lattens post " All island farm books are of course permanent and will keep their effect for further use during the event."

Replace products with drinks and projects with tasks.

    So, whats the difference?

Wish that the expansions we buy on the Island farm would still be there when it comes back.

While you were increasing the limit of Naughty & Nice storage, would it have been too much to ask for you to make them more visible to recipients?

I think the difference is that the update would be specifically tailored to the Island Farm as it says. Maybe that's their way of testing out different options. Who knows but they do seem kind of contradicting.

By the way maybe you could have pointed out that the first quote was from a different announcement discussion thread. That easily would have eliminated 4 pretty unnecessary posts. (I hadn't realized that I could see original post by clicking arrow) I also assumed that discussion would be regarding the latest announcement not a previous one.

not sure to be happy or unhappy about this update honestly, boosters for island may take little pressure off so thats good, but they cost gold, so thats bad. omar bringing new deals, not good or bad, aside from gold mining license and 100% discounts (which i dont even get anymore thanks so many new offers), basically i dont care about omar at all. new seaweed rice balls, ok cool i guess, like someone else mentioned take away buying with $ and instead make more buy with gold options, interesting strategy ggs, continue this strategy little more so that all free players vanish and u lose ur site traffic or reputation in other words.

but i guess im happy about co-op tree being moved to a better place at least. yea only this part of update i like i think.

It is about GGS planning to take away the option to buy goods on our farms with farm cash when products are needed for what ever reason (filling the ship, buying the last few items for the actual product, etc.) or to complete a project, as it did not fit into what they thought the game should be about.. do you remember the endless pages of discussions?? And now we have an update coming about Omar visiting to the Island with his offers for us to buy stuff that we may be lacking.... last time I looked you had to buy items from Omar with gold,,,,oh but wait maybe we will be able to use shells to but products!!

What does 'Furthermore, more treats can now be applied to each player's farm' mean? Does this mean you can apply treats to your own farm?

I feel much the same as Griffith, thanks Griff saved me some space, one of the things I never liked about the Island was the lack of XP, at least we'll get some from seaweed use, but it would have been nice if it also added for production (silo, composter ect.) upgrades & expansions.
I hope their wrong about the buy crops on the other 3 farms Scissors, well worth a mention, I used it a lot for corn when doing Co-Op projects, a case of wait & see I guess.
I might even make it to chapter 3 this time, depends if Steve turns up.

All i see is a lot of golden options to obtain more shells to, when they finally changed into horseshoes, press a button on a picture with a horse. Putting the tree back in sight is not an upgrade, its giving back what was already there in the first place. Already seen one of these new so called top-deals: 1.5 mln shells and 120 greenhouse humus, gold value 36k. Do the math and this topdeal boiles down to about 2 euro-dollar for one honeymelon-seed.
Looks to me GGS is overestimating this free bonus a litlle.
(Anyone interested in a picture of a horse, when you move it it looks like the horse is running, for 50 dollar and i'll through in a bag of marbles for free (estimated value 150 dollar)).

What can be done to get me play the island this time:
Completing chapter 1: Bonus, a rope.
Completing chapter 2: Bonus, a set of wheels.
Completing chapter 3: Bonus, a bugtrap.

Tie the rope to the horse, put the weels on, catch a bug and let him pull the horse.
The last day, tie the bug behind the horse and call it a roll-back day

same here I really hope that the island farm isn't going 2 come back yet it has only been about 3-4 weeks. I would rather them wait 4 the new years that way it will b like a winter vaction that many ppl take around that time of year.

That sounds like the perfect plan!! January would be great!! I'd have saved up enough money to play it then too.

I personally hope it does return next week. i don't have to completely finish the island for each event and i am happy with starting small if needed and only earning some shells for seeds. Each time it comes hopefully i am better prepared and get farther along with each event. If GGS goes months at a time between events then i think that kinda takes away some of the strategy and challenge that comes with being on your toes...which means not always having large sums of farm money built up to fly through the island event. At that point your just going through repetitive motions waiting on build times with no financial challenge or strategy of making the best of what you got to work with.

As someone who does not use the island farm at the moment (only used it the first time it came out) due to all upgrading on my main farm coming to a standstill since I did not have enough money to upgrade both my main farms and the island farms I don't care too much about the upgrades for it at this time. The main thing I am looking forward to is the moving of the co-op tree since due to it's current placement I forgot it was there half the time.

John, I completely agree. I recently nice pranked a members silo and I couldn't even tell it was sparkling so of course the new member I gifted had no idea :(.

It should be easy to add some more obvious graphics other then a few tiny sparkling stars.

Any south park fans out there????

They JUST did a show where the kids download some game app. Spend money to buy game money.
So you can buy buildings, collect game jewels, spend more money.... lol. I about busted a gut thinking how much that show was like this game.

Then I read this latest announcement. Almost ALL of it requiring gold.

So... in other words, not for me. I play free. No gold lock? No gold.
Even if the ship has to sit for hours because I might run out of seeds. SO WHAT?

I actually find it a bit of a challenge to play for free. Even IF all your new stuff is about useless.

When I spend real money, I want to get real stuff. It's that simple.

I was hoping for an update to the horse ranch...:(
...but I guess GGS has better plans for generating more revenue.8)
Im not quite ready for the island event again; still trying to upgrade a few more things on my gourmet farm.
But, oh well, I'm running out of green house seeds anyhow... I dont know if I can complete the 3 chapters this time around, I'm already short on farm dollars since the last go at the island event.:(
