It worries me, that we haven't heard a single word from GGS either confirming or denying it... I truly love this game, but what they sometimes do to it is beyond any comprehension! l have all the sheds, coops, fields and gardens that are in the game, I am level 112 now and even I have a need to buy something to fill the ship's requirements from time to time! I am also a regular monthly gold buyer, but I will be damned if I buy any produce for gold!!! I might even quit the game if it comes to that... Grrrrrrr........... "£$%^&*!!!

Latten has made a couple of posts over on this thread if it helps.... http://en.board.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/showthread.php?122260-No-buying-products-on-the-way

The Big Farm team just doesn't like the way we're playing the game, but the strategies we use make the game enjoyable for us. We are happy customers that playing the game a lot, we buy gold to treat ourselves, and also do things like actually doing things around the house, hanging out with our friends and family members, going to classes, I have to finish my homework.

Nope, sorry everyone, it seems we're expected to play the game as the programmers see fit. For whatever reasons there are, the way we are playing ON OCCASION, IN A PINCH, is causing some type of problem to the flow of their game.

Like someone said before, REAL FARMS likely have to purchase goods when they are in short supply to meet demand. It's a real life strategy too.

    Latten stated:
Big Farm is a game built around production. In the last few months, this shifted more and more towards "let's just buy everything", which is absolutely not how the game was intended to be.

I don't understand why there would be an option to buy products then. And not to offend my fellow North American players, but that's kind of the way we are. We actually do buy everything in sight, consumerism is pretty high here which kind of fuels the economies around the world. You'll end up creating a game that has no interest to our "immediate gratification" mindsets and lose probably quite huge portion of your revenue because I'm hoping more people are smart enough to not waste their gold on speeding up produce. I'm not trying to create an empty threat here, but you aren't marketing a game that fits our lifestyles.

This change is truly just a way to hurt those players who choose to not have a single garden or field on their gourmet or flower farms. That's so unfair and bogus to the rest of us that are are upgrading fields to create products in our bakeries and flower shops, yet still have happiness with decorations. We are playing your game the way you want it, we buy gold and now we're getting punished for it because a small percentage of players somehow run farms at +300% running costs?!

I got it! Here's your solution. Want to make those factory farms actually play your game?

Create a feature that automatically kicks in when someone hits +200% running costs for more than 3 days that makes it impossible to buy products grown on the gourmet and flower farms. Then you will force them to build fields and gardens. They won't be able to make things in the bakery or flower shops. Voila. End of mass panic! Case closed. Done.

I really like kdz's bold suggestion at end of post. I will add to that and say why not limit the amount of products that can be bought in say a 24 hr or weekly period of time for each player. The suggestion to raise the price for those that buy past a certain number is also good. I rarely buy but on occasion need a few things to fill a boat say apples after filling a apple selling side task are low so I buy a couple hundred for boat. For the events there are times I buy to donate the last few odd numbers rather than wait for more harvests. I understand they planned for the game to be played a certain way and people are finding ways around their plan that GG didn't see happening. We all adapt to things in life, many alter the way the play board games, etc. There is not one way to do most things in life. Punishing everyone for the few is not the way to go. I have been told I don't do things the best way in the game, example I keep my 3 pigs others say demo and get more cows and chickens. We arrange our farms differently, what works for one doesn't for another. I do my side tasks, I complete my upgrades, in my desired order not as they pop-up. I am not a big gold player, I buy a bit of gold here and there mostly used to benefit the co-op but some for me. I understand changes I understand upgrades but I don't understand punishment to play. If the game is being misused by a few, deal with them don't punish the whole community for a few. The expansions to the game need to happen to keep the higher lvl's interested but improve and expand to enhance the fun not make it into a job.

The game has an intent on how THEY want the game to be played. Let's all just follow in a line like good little farmers. Can we say "Control Freak" ? Test away, we await your command. LOL
Seriously, I always go with the flow, stay upbeat and positive, and will make the best of the situation. However, this one needs a little more thought. I see players as being creative, not trying to beat the system or misuse the game, just playing the way they have fun. This is a game for fun, right?

if this is an attempt to get me to buy more gold to push a field, garden, or meadow through i can assure you these changes will not encourage me to do that. if i in fact even stay in the game i wont be using much gold at all because i only use it on the windmill. this is beyond a stupid idea and its even more stupid than taking away our happiness and giving us a bakery thats not profitable like you guys did in the beginning. i put up with the new gourmet farm and i even put up with the rediculous impossibility of 100% happiness, but i spent 10 months building a farm based on your rules. I can assure you i wont do it a second time. Too many other games out there to have to put up with a second round of disappointment. By the way, you take and never give. You take my happiness and my "buy" button but where's those horses you've been promising for the last 4 months? This is a bad move.

HEY i got an idea for you guys. why dont you just give me the farm you want me to have, with the decorations you want me to have, and give me a production button that will produce what you want me to produce when you want me to produce it so i can save some time!! (Please enclose photograph of how my new communist GGS farm will look!)

Hmm. I've been taking a break from gameplay, but the minute it becomes policy that I cannot buy my donkeys for the ship instead of actually having donkeys is the minute I extend my vacation from Big Farm permanently and never look back.

Oh good grief. Latten even says
Of course we are aware that this change might have a grave effect on how things work in the game, and of course we're aware that it won't be taken too positively by our players.
That's why we're testing it first, on a few, selected servers, to be able to measure the impact of this change and to see how much it actually helps with the game's design.
    (emphasis mine)

So, umm. If YOU KNOW it will negatively affect the game and YOU KNOW that players will HATE IT, whyyyyy are you force-testing this change on YOUR CUSTOMERS???

I didn't really think GGS would shoot themselves in the foot but here they are, loading the gun & aiming it! Sheesh. UN. BE. LIEVABLE.

i have read the italian forum posts on ggs idea to eliminate the buy button for products..as this is only a test idea~~~~ i do hope ggs takes into consideration everyones opinion,,,i will say i am very pleased that 99,99% of all posts r distressed over ggs trying to manipulate our farms and insult us by telling us how to and what to do with our farms,,lets chalk this "idea" up to a FAIL!!!!!!

This concept is too overwhelming for me to digest!! I agree totally with all above aforementioned who are distressed over this! I am not a big "buy to be done with it" player, rather I plant and feed and harvest all the time when i am on the game which is a lot since i have the time to do so!!! Yes there may be an occasion or two when I have bought product: for example to be able to have my scented oil produced in the shop, because I do not want to wait hours for me to be able to get the 10 more items needed. The main thing here is that is my choice to do so!! What is the big deal about doing that???????
We do not need any programmer or developer to tell us how to play the game! We have had many inconveniences pressed on to us and we have stayed loyal and continued to support all the necessary things required to play the game and now this!!
Test or not the powers that be will do as they deem fit and the heck with all the rest of us... but from what i have read here tonight there is sure to be an even increase in the number of good people who will leave the game because of this lunacy.
I am disappointed that I had to find out this information as an aside... from fellow players and not the powers that be .. testing or not it should have been stated it was happening. Knowledge is power and I guess they did not want us to know.. well now we know and I, for one, totally disagree with this new "game design".
Here's to failure!! Let your voice be heard!!

On a brighter note....Just got back in after todays update and I can now go to water coop trees and come back to still see "next harvest" display on ALL my farms!!! ....Woohoo!! *happy dances round the forums*

EDIT: Uh oh, spoke too soon lol... Something is still broken with the Flower Farm next harvest indicator. Haven`t figured out what is triggering it, it might be the end of a mission, but the GF one keeps a time showing and the FF changes to a... " - " and when I hover cursor over it it says "No current production". ;(

Just tested another mission & its not that causing it, its also not a production on FF ending...Not sure whats knocking it out, but mine has gone 3 times in last hour...most weird lol

Kind of looks like to me GGS is running this farm game to a grinding halt just like they did on Good Game Farmer. I love(d) both but now this is getting to be absolutely ridiculous to tell us we can not buy something when we are the ones who bought your gold to pay for your steak and wine dinners, made the money on our farms.. etc on and on and on.. now you want to tell us how we are to have our farms? For real?? I know i am not the first to say this GGS but you really need to start paying attention to the players not your greedy pockets. You see how many less people are doing the island this time compared to last time, don't you realize it is only going to get worse and worse if you keep making this game a " you do as i say after you pay me for gold " type of control game. If you want people to buy more gold you have been told sooo many times how to make the players happy and in return they gladly buy gold, but if you think that FORCING us to do what you want will accomplish more, you have another thing coming. The brothers need to wake up and see how they are running them selves out of business.

Best, most logical suggestion. Don't fix what isn't broken people.

I would really like to know the story behind the GoodGame Farmer! What happened to them? The same thing going on here? I'm sure it was the same people, messing up a good thing. If that is the case, they obviously don't care. So why not shut down BigFarm and just start another one where everything goes JUST HOW YOU WANT? I'm sure you'll get new customers. Just like you did when BigFarm came along. I'm also sure that most of your Gold Buyers here won't return. Just as they may if this is implemented on all servers, for good.

I was under the impression that they ran Good Game Farmer into the ground because Big Farm was on the table. Big Farm was to replace the original and be 1000x better. Rather than do a massive overhaul to the first game they just came out with a second.

Probably all due to low income earnings in Good Game Farmer....

Bweatherholt... I think the reason they are looking to change the buy button is that they feel the game IS broken. Of course its their own fault for not realizing that people can afford to play a farm without Gardens/etc. I don't exactly agree, though I do see all the 'top' Co-op's top players converting to that strategy more and more, and see it within my own Co-op. Of course, I have a billion goats instead of a billion ducks, so I am not the type to follow the flock... as it were. But if everyone who is successful at a strategy game employs the exact same strategy... then yeah, I'd have to agree the game is broken.

Why does everyone including GGS assume we are not growing anything. Had you seen my gourmet farm a couple of days ago i had no gardens but i had 31 duck coops...THAT MEANS I GROW DUCKS!!!!!!!! THAT MEANS I DECIDED TO BE A DUCK FARMER AND NOT A DONKEY FARMER!!! Have you looked at my Flower farm? I have no meadows but i have TONS OF ORCHARDS AND APIARIES! That means i traded growing things in a meadow to growing things on a tree! I'M STILL GROWING THINGS!! I grow things on all my farms..I prefer to have the choice on what i like to grow. Sure i buy the corn to stick in the windmill but i still have to run a windmill an i still have to grow chickens. This whole change is built on a totally false premise. "they never grow anything and thats not what the game was intended to be. "THEY NEVER GROW ANYTHING" IS FALSE!!!! and yes i'm yelling!!

You mean to tell me, NOBODY in planning stage said "hey, if you can buy wildflowers, why have a field to grow them?" lol. NOBODY?

You either have bad game designers or you can't let people play a game how you designed it. Which one is it, hmmmmm?

I understand the game planners are going to get rid of DUCKS sometime just before or right after Christmas. It seems players are winning Egg and Dung contests to easily now and not enough GOLD is being spent on those games. Also top teams are complaining about how teams are moving up the board to quickly using Egg games. They also plan to eliminate Honey Cream because it's making too much money for players which is why they eliminated Ice Cream earlier this year. Not enough Gold for Dollar trading going on with Omar or the Trading Floor thing.

If what I'm hearing is true why don't they just do everyone and favor and change the name of the entire game from BIG GAME FARM to BIG GREEDY FARM?''

They don't need to get rid of ducks, just have two separate products - chicken eggs and duck eggs, so only the chicken eggs count in projects though they could also have new ones for duck eggs. You could also distinguish different kinds of dung.

They don't have to eliminate honey cream either but maybe lower the amount it gives or make it take longer or add more ingredients.

;) Yeah, well, I've been working a lot the past two days and decided to use the buying STRATEGY to help me catch up a little bit - I've got three apple orchards and could grow them, sure, but someone trying to tell me what to do with the money I've EARNED running my farm makes me just a wee bit cranky.

And I'm with you, rhinana - no buying gold for me, I've been ignoring all of the 100% offers since the island v2 debacle and won't be starting again soon if this is how GGS will treat me as a player, as if I'm too stupid to play the game "properly" (which means, I guess, *their* way). :p
