No thanks and agreed Thelma, it is just a game!
Sometimes I get annoyed by all the negativity/whining/complaining and "Iwanna-Iwanna-Iwanna's" and most of the time I just leave it be .... but I simply hate it when people keep throwing in words like "most of the players" or "most of us", etc .... So I just had to throw back a few real facts!
Otherwise it can be so confusing for the newbies!:(
Eloquent! Agree in full. Just make it double Pffft!
Just because I am playing and don't complain on the forum, doesn't mean that I agree with all the things the developers come up with. I just ignore the things I don't like.
So if your talking about getting the numbers right, you should also not asume, that all people think alike or react in the same way.
So I guess we should all be sheep to be driven in whatever direction the company wishes? What you call whining, I call legitimate complaints.
I was responding (jokingly) to a deleted (funny) post. I think there are legitimate complaints but there is a big difference between posting a complaint or suggestion on the appropriate forum vs constant negativity about every single update that doesn't give you exactly what you want every single time. People who say they refuse to buy gold are the same ones constantly "threatening" to leave the game. Who cares?
WHY CAN"T WE BUY SEEDS??
It makes ZERO sense why GG would spend so much time and effort to get the user to spend their excess gold and cash on the island and then chop them off at the knees.
OPEN the seed vendor, you fools!
LOL, I hear ya. I'm out of shells anyway so I wouldn't be able to buy seeds. If it was all about the money though they could add a gold option for the seeds. I thought they would when this whole thing started. Imagine the complaints then... damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Anyway, I like the game, I liked the island as well. I'm still a low level player and as fun as it was - the island really wasn't (and still isn't) meant for low level players, so I'll be giving it a wide, wide berth the next few times it comes along. I have enough trouble trying to find the time to complete smaller events as it is (why is Piggles having a cold again at the same time I'm still collecting cranes for Daniel? Sigh.)
But I just wanted to comment on those 'few real facts' mentioned earlier... Basically what it comes down to: during last 2 years over 4 million people managed to hit the forum button ingame and thus registered. Less than 1,5% of those people actually bothered to post at some point. So now they're all considered as 'active members'. Lol!!
I agree that no one should make statements like 'most players hate this or that' or 'more than 50% players ready to quit' and whatnot, because that's just silly. But forum statistics are also in no way representative of what the majority of players like or dislike. Particularly when so few of them come to the forum and express their thoughts and opinions.
I enjoyed parts of the island, but once you're in it it's hard to get out of it without spending a lot of money just so you get some results back for your expense. I spent most of 40,000 gold (I had saved up & bought some just before the event) and probably $30million and I only got to chapter 2 step 4 - playing every day for several hours. Granted I was level 54 (I think?) but if the island was 'designed for level 100' players (paraphrasing b/c I don't know if that was ever officially stated) then don't unlock it until then. Otherwise it's just frustrating.
The sandcastle I won for chapter 1 is cute and looks nice in my playground area on the flower farm, but if all the island offers next time is more pricey quests and vague "residential housing" and rankings that won't be relevant to me I will probably skip it. I saved most of my shells from the first time and will just buy seeds when the truck rolls around again.
I did miss the island a little bit when it first went away but now I'm back on my other three farms with a lot to do and actually feel like I am accomplishing things rather than just chasing my tail to spend a lot of money.
I hope the horse farm will be better... *fingers crossed*
The houses sound great. A way to improve your manpower without Gold? Yes you have to invest $$ and Time, but that's the trade off for Gold. This part of the update has been largely ignored in the comments, and its possibly the most important. The top/gold players get a new building, and/or new decos. The rest get a way to improve their housing with a little hard work INSTEAD of using GOLD to buy Fancy houses. Why is there no cheering from the non-gold using community?

I can understand there are some people who don't like something and some who do, but it seems that the positivity police has to put down the people talking about the game.
In other words, the "gripers" keep it about the game while the "Positive" people feel the need to tell others how they should post and what they should say and how seeing anything negative goes against their delicate sensibilities. Interesting. That's what I find annoying.
It's a legitimate complaint when you know tons of people complain about how expensive the island is. How it's a lot of output for little reward, etc. Then GG puts a smile on their face and tries to pretend a ranking system is what we asked for, when it's clear to me, from what I see people saying, that nobody asked for a ranking system. We wanted the cost to come down. I'm not making an assumption here. I'm basing it on what I see in actual feedback from actual people.
As for people being active, so they're "happy," that is just as an erroneous assumption as the other side of the equation. I talk to a lot of people who are "active" members who do not understand the rhyme to GG's reason. Their claims that they listen to us, when many of the things I've seen requested over and over and over, are ignored. There are many people "actively" married who are miserable. There are many people "actively" working who hate their jobs. Just because all of us are working, doesn't mean we go skipping to work with a song in our hearts.
When I see a flawed system, I talk about it. When, and if, I see GG respond to totally reasonable requests, then I'll eat my words.
Until then, I have the right to discuss when I see something going into a decline. When I see people who were formerly happy with the game, who poured much of their hard-earned REAL cash into a game, talk about how they are now asked to throw away everything they've spent money on in favor of another thing GG wants them to spend their money on.
I am positive when I see positive things. When I feel a company cares about people. I am the first one to notify managers when I receive good service, so the employee is rewarded. I will write good reviews and recommend services and establishments to people I feel care about the customer.
But when I feel the customer is being fed garbage and being told it's honey, I will point that out as well.
I am al level over the 100 and I had a lot of dollars the last time for the eiland. No I lost 150 mil on the islands. So I do not have that money again. If you think we earne miljons and miljons verrry vast than you are wrong. Sinds they have changed the 2farm every thing hase changed. We don't earne so much dollars any more. Like a said before give us a number of horshoese we needed are BF is losing members because of it. And the flowerfarm have you seen the prices of the ups it is redicelus. And than you think we are swimming in are dollars.
Thanks, Yon.
I just call it as I see it. Though I doubt it will make any difference. As long as there's new players , I doubt there's a huge concern about people who've been playing a while.
I am sorry you feel that way but I just experienced things differently, so I don't agree. :S
I have experienced that if one's strategy is right one can make a lot of farm dollars as from level 40/45. And since the Gourmet Revamp I've made even far more farm dollars than ever before! All I had to do was change my strategy according to the revamp. Right now I have 280 million and still counting... So for me (as for many others) the temporary island event was/is a godsend! Finally something new where I can spend my many dollars on and finally a new challenge to break my head over!
Experienced players already confirmed in the forum that the island event was doable without using gold for some 100 million dollars; and I will certainly play it again next time!
And as for the horse ranch. Well, the surprise factor has always been a big part of this game, GGS doesn't tell us everything previously, that's all in the game! And this is fine with me - I do not need to know everything on beforehand - I simply much more prefer to figure out things myself (as befits a game imo).
As from the very start of the island event it was obvious that one's main goal had to be to gain as much shells as one possibly could. So I did and today I am still sending my ship away with 6 full loads. And now I wait patiently for the next surprise. Will the shell trader come back? Will - according to the "Racing Farmer" - the paddock really be the next thing or will the temporary farm come back first; and will the ships menu reset?? I know for myself I have figured out my answers already, and as always just eager to see whether I am right!
Happy farming!
I totally agree, I would stop playing, if there wasn't new challenges.
I noticed that with the 1st run of the Island, there were many, many threads about the Island in Questions about theGame. Many of the titles did not clearlyexplain what the thread was to be about and there was a whole lot of repetition. It got a bit confusing as to where to lookfor, go back to, or post what I wanted. Howmany threads about the Island should I post the info I have or quesion to? How many do I have to look through to go backand find a post I’m looking for?
Do you think we could have just one thread for All QuestionsAbout The Island Round 2? I would preferthis. Or can the Players and Moderators help to at least adjust the thread titles to make themclearer? For all the threads? There is plenty of room to clearly state whatyour thread is about. I know players can edit their own posts, can we edit our own titles too?
Also, about the Horse Ranch. In the 2nd Birthday E-mail, it said it would be availablefrom Level 16. Since the Island is notavailable until Level 30, I’m hopeful that we can have some fun with the Horseranch without having millions and millions of shells to do it. Players under Level 30, still get horseshoesfrom the ship for their farm products.
I don't need a ranking system, just bring the costs down. Whydid this update come out so soon when the Island is not expected for weeks?
Also when will the shelltrader be back? He was supposed to visit between islands right? I'd like to get some seeds as I saved shells to be able to buy them.
I hear you Crafty Critters!
It is indeed very annoying that so many players believe they have to open a new thread every single time they want to write something. Experienced players have asked multiple times not to do that, but it appears to be a lost battle asking people to use the thread that already exists... For some obscure reason people don't seem to be wanting to search for the right thread and/or read threads and posts properly... (laziness perhaps?)
It is indeed terribly confusing for newbies (but in the end for all players) and the mods work their heads off to merge posts all the time and move posts to the right thread! ;(
What we were hoping for, besides getting new and worthy decos, was to save horse shoes for the horse ranch.
We really need to know the worthiness of these horse shoes before deciding how much to commit in the island farm again.
One girl repeatedly stated she knew about the other threads but she wanted to be noticed so she started new ones. It didn't use to be so bad though, usually there's just the discussion post and one big question post (with hundreds of small specialised ones that one can ignore more easily).
Not wanting to start a new post myself, I have to ask here: what to do if one did not get the email? Not even in spam, where it usually is??
I'll pass this time; it's just way too expensive.
Why not get the horse stable up and running first so we can spend the horseshoes we already have, rather than us winding up with more and more but no idea if or when we'll be able to cash them in?
It cost only al lot of dollars an with a little luck you can reach the second chapter but not finish it.
