This has just been added to the original announcement.....

Additionally, costs for buildings and expansions that need to be built in order to complete the first couple of tasks have been decreased slightly. Also, you may now grab some greenhouse seeds and additional island dollars if you complete these tasks.

I dont think i will be doing the island again it cost way too much to do it and im level 98 a lot of these updates are really about gold in my eyes i used to buy gold every 2 weeks as i really enjoyed playing and building up my 3 farms doing the projects which now i find the collectables are taking forever to get even playing 14 hours a day does nothing but once all the updates started being added gold this gold that and updates that really didn't do anything to make me excited i just felt i was now wasting my money buying gold as i don't enjoy playing the game as i used to i don't do missions never did like them also don't do the tractor building thing and then the new island which gets demolished in the end to only have to build over. I feel you have spoilt a great game if you had listened more to players way back before adding the last 3 things and just added a 4th farm (permanent) with a twist it would have been more enjoyable. I know a lot of players left the game because they felt they where not been listened to ( right from when the happiness issue was changed ) You really need to start listening more and stop thinking of your pockets all the time this as made me stop buying gold not encouraged me to spend more.

I loved the island farm and was sad when it disappeared. I had been hoarding all my money before it arrived because I always seemed to miss the architect, so having a ton of spare cash helped me finish and collect a nice amount of shells. I will participate again, but definitely not at the same pace or urgency as the first time.

I think the horseshoes will be a great asset, even though we don't know exactly how many we will need, so I will continue to pursue them until the stables come. I remember so many people saying the new mission system stunk, and for the first few weeks not many people played. I gained thousands of certificates while people didn't bother because they didn't know the reward, and was ahead of the game when the garage was introduced.

I think the island will be the same, collect the shells you can, because the horse ranch will need a ton of horseshoes. You don't have to complete the island every time, but don't ignore it completely.

I did the farm last time & got really stung with how much money I was conned into spending to the detriment of my main farms. Also the shells that I had managed to accumulate were spent on seeds which I no longer have & therefore have been missing out on the bonus for the ship every day, which before the fruit became a permanent fixture I was getting every day. I appreciate that there has to be high incentives for the gold buyers BUT it generally feels that those of us that can't afford to be spending £20-30 of 'real' money every week are being jeopardised because of that. What the developers need to remember is that if they turn to gearing the game towards the gold buyers only then they will be losing a lot of players that play the game on a real time strategy rather than 'upping' their farms by maxing out with the coins & stuff that they can buy. I for one won't be visiting the farm any time soon

I totally agree with you, this island is nothing but exactly what you stated. I would say the island is nothing but a bunch of horse pucky but can't do that because NO ONE has a horse YET!!! How about listening for once GGS... people know what will make the game more enjoyable and if they enjoy it then and only then will you see your gold sales go up. As of right now you have more than 50% of the people ready to call it quits because all you are worrying about is your pocket. Is that fair to the ones who basically sign your paycheck???

Perhaps GGS has also lost sight of the fact that non-gold buyers are also prospective gold buyers.

Quick question: When the island event restarts, will we start from scratch or has our previous progress been saved and we continue with the already built houses and lemur pens etc?

I know usually if it says "event" it always starts from the very beginning, but since it's like the fourth farm I was hoping it would continue where we left off... sincerely hoping considering the amount of gold I ended up spending.. *embarressed cough* silly me... getting caught up in sandcastles..

    Happy farming :)

How do you know?? Please be cautious with throwing numbers all over the forums this way, when you can't be sure!!

Facts are that this forum knows over 4 million members of which only 62,296 are active members, which means players who do actually write in the forums. And judging from the >25 Million people who are playing this game all over the world, most players seem to like it, and agree with what the developers develop for us!

    Happy farming! :)

too costly. not playing the island farm with any sense of urgency. all of the money diverted from your permanent farms is highly problematic.

I loved the temporary Island farm event!

I loved the surprise-effects and all the new challenges of the 4th temporary farm (this time: island). As I loved to have to figure things out, to think and rethink my choices and to carefully ponder each step. As from starting this game I loved to at least try to play it with as little as possible gold, because it simply means a greater challenge to me ...
Without all of the aforementioned it would only be a game of thoughtless clicks to me.
I know there are (many) players who demand GGS to make things easier/simpeler/cheaper for them; who want to have GGS deliver them every single solution/answer/game-strategy on a silver platter..... But not me. It's a game, and it is supposed to be a difficult game with a lot of obstacles and challenges in it.

There are enough threads about the island and a lot of information, tricks & tips were already to be found there. Experienced players warned us in the forums that it was an extremely difficult challenge and probably only meant for the highest levels among us...

You did not have to play the island, nobody forced you to, it is a choice and yours only.

To play the temporary (30 days) farm event (this time: the island) is a choice! I would not recommend players under level 100 and sitting on A LOT of millions, to play it. Just be patient, wait till you have those millions, wait till the temporary farm event comes back, and make your 3 permanent farms stronger in the meantime.

For what it is worth, and as far as I can see things now, my advice for the island would be:

    - all levels under lvl 75: do not go to the island if you do not have enough money. Concentrate on yr 3 farms, making them stronger, making more money. Be very patient. The paddock won't walk away, nor will the Greenery or the ship ;) You will get another chance!
    - levels between 75 - 100 and having enough money: you can give the island a try. I would say: build 1 more field and harvest a lot of oranges (or peanuts/grapes – this depends on how much you can be on-line and how much money you can afford). Catch bubbles. And maybe, if you can afford it: build a mango orchard, too. So you can at least gain your seashells (or whatever the next temporary currency will be). But never ever jeopardize yr 3 permanent farms, as these are the backbone of the game!
    - levels above 100 and sitting on A LOT of millions: you can afford to explore the island. Be wise and careful in every step you take, because it is tricky. See how far you can get with your millions, without jeopardizing yr 3 permanent farms. One can always stop at a certain point and simply fill the rest of the 30 days with only producing oranges, maybe some orange fizz, mango’s or whatever you feel you can afford to do.

    Just my 2 cents.
    Happy farming! :)

I was at level 58 when the island started and not sitting on 100's of millions and I'm fine. Your 3 permanent farms aren't going anywhere and you can go back to updating them when you're done. I finished all of chapter 2 and most of chapter 3. I knew I couldn't grow enough bananas to finish so then I started making as many drinks as I could (not the cheapest ones). I ended up with over 500,000 horseshoes so I'm fine with that. I don't know how many I'll need but I think it's a reasonable amount for now. The farm dollars aren't real and they come back fast. The flower farm upgrades are taking all my money now but whatever- I'll make more.

    WTF? That's it? More rankings?

And a changing of tasks so we can forget about previously collected info. But the rewards for rankings are meant to make as eagerly plow ahead and do it from scratch again.

    Meh.

    Pffft.

Moderators, could you please confirm that you are indeed starting a new island event on 9/22?

Seems awfully soon imho. Even at level 122 and with plenty of farm cash coming in every day I have yet to get anywhere close to the 65mio I had when I embarked upon the first island adventure.

I did love the island, finished all three levels without spending one coin of gold and the new decos brought a fresh wind to my other farms... they were getting just a little stale. I'm happy to hear that there will be even more high-level decos and how quickly you are addressing some of the (minor) issues. But give us a little time to recuperate, will ya :)

since i have not purchased any gold in a while, i am getting 200% bonus opportunities, now, with the gold i used to spend money on, i am using it for things other than the game, if and only if i ever do decide to buy gold, i will use it only on thing such as houses, fields, barns, and other key structures needed, and not for their special events or tokens, etc.

I loved the farm as well Jiesta. I did complete it all. It did cost a lot of money and some gold. I was able to buy 40 of each kind of seed and still have lots left. I realized just after the Island Farm was gone that there were different amounts you can choose for the 2 bottom berths on the ship (fruit from greenhouse), so I make sure I always choose the lowest amount, even if I have more available, that way it will last until the seeds are available to buy again.

All of your suggestions for the island are good Jiesta. I have a feeling that we will have the Spooky event first and then the Island will come after that. Just my opinion.

I do have a lot of fun playing the game and can't wait to see what is next. :)

    Cheers.

Whether you like the things the game is doing or not most every message expresses most everyone actually like the game or at least the concept as a whole. If someone expresses the Island game is not for them then we should all say fine. I remember what it was like starting out and money concerns are a big concern for all players for a good period of time. I certainly understand a player's reluctance to spend money on things that aren't moving them towards stronger farms and greater financial independence. I believe that is the wise choice for some players and instead of talking about how great the island is we should encourage all players to do the smart things that help them enjoy the game more in the long run.

I also understand the concerns of players who spend little or no gold. Those players should be appreciated because they actually play the game and have to suffer all the difficulties not having gold puts upon them and yet they don't give up. Those players in turn should appreciate those that spend gold because after all this is a business and without gold being bought and spent there would be no game for any of us to enjoy.

Should the game be a little more rewarding to players who don't buy and spend gold? I would like to think yes but then again I don't know the real numbers. I did think the one box, one rose seed so on and so forth for completing the 2 year was a little underwhelming as a thank you for player loyalty. Maybe at some point they can configure things like the island to work like the challenges use to: if you're a certain level player the costs are this as compared to players on another level. With the understanding of course the higher the level the greater the rewards but in the end all players can earn a goodly amount of horseshoes with a reasonably fair amount of investment.

But in the end the game is what it has always been, a game of choices. Each player has a right to determine their future and how they get there. For those who want to spend massive amounts of gold to take greater advantage of what the game has to offer then I say good for you. (However, if you should spend $200k in gold on the wheel and not win a chicken coop I am going to laugh when you tell me the story and probably say something along the lines of dumb---.) For those of you who don't spend gold or don't want to do things like the island I say good for you, spend your money how you best see fit, good luck and if you need some advice just ask.

Thanks Jiesta - it's nice to read a positive post. Good grief it was getting pretty clamorous in here! I liked the island, I was sad to see it go but at the same time I've also built up all my other farms and it's nice to start a new one every once in a while.

I overspent on gold last time so lesson learned. It'll be fun to see the enhancements on this next go-around and I'll have to take it much slower because I'm a bit low on funds. So what - it's just a game!!

I agree totally. Island too expensive for me to do again. HATE THE TREE LOCATION NOW and why have a bonus on the boat if you can't purchase seeds to finish it. Someone at GG should redo that whole mess.

I agree... Stop dangling the idea of the horse farm in front of us and get on with it. I for one will not play this round of the island just to feed GGS's bank account untill i know i will get something in return. It just isn't worth the inconvenience or the justification of wasting farm dollars or gold ( real money ) on something that may turn out to be nothing more the just a cash grab.

No, the island will not be permanent. And no, it will not be where you left it. Everything is gone, and must be built again.

I have a GGS translation as well.

"We've listened to your feedback and responded to it"="We've disregarded what most of you said and replaced it with our own reality where people are clamoring for a ranking system and want to spend even more gold and money on something that goes away in thirty days."

I liked the island but it became a deal breaker for me,you will go bankrupt trying to do the tasks and we still have to maintain the other 3 farms.I wish they would let us do separate upgrades,it's no fun to upgrade 1 thing at a time and the island is separate from the other 3.IJS

Unless the cost is a fair amount less, I won't be playing it, and not sure how much longer I will be playing the game at all. Keeping the prices basically the same, and just adding more features isn't going to get me to play the Island. The ship has become completely useless to me,as well as the greenhouse. I have some tropical fruit left, but it never ever asks for what I have.

To be honest, not even a bit anxious to see the Island this time. I think depending on what it brings, and if it is something that we will need for the future, my time here will likely be ending soon. I have already backed off buying any more gold, because I am not sure what is coming.
