    Eggs. 5 participants. 3 harvested. I had 4,200+, first place, 64 certs - other 2 who harvested were over 3,800 & 4,000

next event, flowers. 2 participants. other person did not harvest. 18 certs

I would sugest waiting a long time until you have a chance. But I know how it feels

It's not a matter of having a chance. In fact, I probably win close to 50% of the missions I enter if only because I actually harvest.

The problem, as illustrated in the post above is that continually going agfainst people that do not harvest lowers ther certificate payout to a point where it no longer seems worth the effort.

Above I spent 1 hour plus wait time, actually won both missions and my total certificates were under 100.

And I guess threads like this don't help, they only make more people purposely not harvest :(

I have just started a mission and 3 minutes in someone has 965 corn !!! It is ridiculous ..... another reason why missions are useless !

Why is 965 corn ridiculous? Some people post well over 5000 corn immediately without using gold at all.

For example, I am not harvesting in my current mission, because odds are really good I couldn't possibly compete in it. There are only 2 of us. One of us has over 3 million reputation. One of us has a little over 300 thousand reputation. It's very clear the one with 10 times the reputation of the other is going to win it hands down.

    aphasia:

but why not harvest anyway? You'll get more certs for a little than none and if everyone harvests, when you will be the winner, the pot will be richer if you are not the only one harvesting.

I believe a good many players have taken to entering the mission, harvesting once, maybe twice, taking the certs that come with modest participation. Thirty minutes later you are asked to enter another mission, so you play a little so as not to get zero, and get those certs also. This has become my method, only busting out when I have a good shot at winning, and I am completely astounded by the number of certs that have piled up on me in this way. Keep one field of flowers, one of corn, and keep the chickens fed for eggs or manure. No worry or anxiety about the competition, not an abundance of frantic clicking and calculating against the clock, just letting the rewards of time served fall upon me like a gentle rain. Go in peace.

One field does not give you any certificates, in fact five don't get you anything, for me and many others. We need to harvest five fields at least twice to not get zero.

But otherwise your reason is better than those that don't harvest out of spite towards other players.

I'm afraid I'm among those Mission players you dislike :(

I return a nil score sometimes not out of spite but because I don't need see the need to stress over getting the certs. Honestly, the benefits from the tractors is not that great. Yes the happy workers are nice and the extra happy too, but they are not a big deal

So when on line I keep entered in a Mission all the time, but don't do anything I wouldn't have done anyway. I don't not harvest my fields in case the next mission wants them. I don't not collect my ducks in case the next mission is eggs or dung. Just farm along as I have always done

And those certificates trickle in. Without stress or angst or feeling punished because my play style is different to another farmers

It's a game, please try to have fun with it and not stress over something that does not even give huge benefits

That is the way i do missions, just like Samty said.
Having certificates or not... so what.

I'll upgrade tractors someday or maybe not. They do need dollars too and i rather put my dollars in my farms.
And when or if i will upgrade tractors i will think carefully witch one of them is the next one... not that one what gives reputation points, that is the last one ;)

I didn't think that the amount of certificates you won depended in part on participation of others, only your own participation, and the base amount you win is multiplied depending on your place getting. Am I wrong?

It depends on the contestants. I just "won" six certificates in my first place in days or weeks. Lots of zeros in missions, see above for comparisons of results with or without active contestants.
