The Greenhouse is permanent! It is situated next to your permanent farms, as is the harbour, paddock and airport > so, yes it is permanent. ;)

There once was a Captain from Norway
Who loaded our goods in his ship's bay
    then tropic seeds came
    and some of us claim,
"as for filling the ship now, there's no'way."

    -- Me

i actually I fill the ship regularly still... just popped into my head....

The ship, as it was, could sail three times a day.
Giving extra money and extra XP.
People are upset because they took that away.
I don't care, for me it's all about ME

The Island farm is situated below your main farm but it is temporary

It did say in the Official Announcement The amount of horseshoes per fruit is greater the higher amount you choose to give.

Yes Samty I read this at the time it was posted, thank you. The great problem was it did not say how one chooses. Jaks post described how to use the interface, and that was exceedingly helpful. BF would be much improved if they had some images of how to use the interface when new features are added, particularly when its a tiny obsure arrow that is easily missed.

Yes, Pameow; sometimes the game asks us to think for ourselves and to figure things out ourselves! Isn't it extraordinary??

I don't know if this is already asked.
A friend of mine gets specials tasks to start the greenhouse. The reward is special seed for the green house.
Why don't these tasks start for me?? SO I can get free seeds as well...

    Are tempers running high?
When I made a suggestion to more clearly show the new interface in the patch notes, I did not expect it to be met with nastiness and sarcasm. This is supposed to be a discussion forum thread, not a personal attack thread.

I don't think the update is balanced for all players... it's only to keep the high levels busy and bound to the game so they can spend there money. The cost of the Island is so high that it's not possible for lower level players to grow and update on the regular farms. (I consider myself midlevel 53 and can't get enough dollars anymore to upgrade my farm, if you make a lot of money on that level then tell me how).
Further more the game isn't a game anymore it became a job.... . And what's next? Caring for a pony I don't want? I don't want to comb the hair of pony? If I would I would play a barbie game..
I also doubt that the return of our dollar investment will be worth it. If we could recuperate half of the cash we invested then we will be happy I guess.
    Overall a big big disappointment...
Give us a least a sign these dollars aren't wasted and we get something good in return. Cuz for now it's really poor... I mean seeds that cos millions of shells... Come on

When I read of people ranked 72 or 100 calling themselves low-level, I wondered what 68-me could possibly be. Wasn't over a 100 once high-level? So anyway, I'd also say above 30 is already mid-level.
And I'm glad someone else found that horse to be too Barbie like as well *shudders at it's shiny hooves* although it has to fit in with the look of the other animals of course, it was a bit of a shock :)

The Island is a great solution to keep the players challenged that already have full farms and too much money. For the players that are not at that point yet, it's a severe handicap (let alone for lvl 30s). But it was not required, so ok.

The ship was (ok, still is) a nice feature (and we had lots of fun with the captain in the coop). But with the new seeds, the island became sort of mandatory. Sure, we still have a nice feature even with the longer waiting times, but it's fun to fill up, we miss a lot of xp, and it's frustrating to see him idling in the harbor (and seducing the women in the coop). And, in general, it's never nice to have an option for making money/xp reduced, feels like a downgrade.
Of course we have no idea yet what the usefulness of the horseshoes is, probably superb because it requires big investments, but they will only make the island more compulsory.

I think it's a good idea to have a "send ship away" button when it's at 100%.

Or as a more long-term island solution: allow access to the island only for people with "full farms / all tasks done / 100M dollars in stock" or something like that. Make it elite, a goal to reach and boast about, in stead of a handicap for the majority of players.

I was level 58 or 59 when the island started and my 3 farms are far from fully upgraded- I certainly didn't have 100 million farm dollars (I had less than 10 million) and I'm on the last step of chapter 2. I have done upgrades on my main farm and a really expensive flower shop upgrade while still working the island farm. I haven't missed a shipload and have been growing special seeds only. I have almost 100,000 horseshoes and 2 million shells. Loading the ship hasn't been a problem and I'm not choosing the lowest amount of fruit either. If you don't do all the side tasks on the island it's not that bad. I probably won't complete chapter 3 but I'll for sure have the first two sand castles and lots of shells and horseshoes.

Excuse me for (for once) also asking this question, but are you using gold? You are the closest starting-point from my own that I read so far, but I could never have afforded this.

I bought simple houses at first- then some gold houses during a prime spending event. I bought one gold deco and one property expansion during the prime spending. I was pretty broke during the first week of transferring money and getting everything started but now I only transfer money every few days if necessary. Next time I wont upgrade the bank as high because I didn't end up needing it. I tear stuff down sometimes to get workers and make room.

No shells are refunded when you tear down an island building.

mrgreenjeans, have you upgraded anything on your other farms? Did you have to wait before you could start an archi upgrade?

I'm not high enough to need architect upgrades. I upgraded a cherry orchard and distillery for the flower farm last week. I had to upgrade a couple houses for those. It doesn't bother me to wait on some of the upgrades while I do the island because I want the horses. I might run out of seeds but I'm going for as many horseshoes as I can. I'm not interested in the island decorations so I'm using all shells for seeds. I make drinks in the island bar. One batch of fruity flip gives you several hundred thousand shells.

Could you explain then a bit how you make so much dollars? I am maybe doing it all wrong :)
I stil stand with my previous statement then : the Island isn't balanced for low lever players (unless that shiny donkey we get in the future gives tons of dollars)

Yes you will have shells, if you demolish something in island. It is a bug or something, when it doesn't show shells from demolishing. I asked about it once and Nafaru told that we will have shells for demolishing.

Yes, field shows 0 seashells and 8 workers back, if demolish. So does mill, 0 seashells. Is that true?

No, that's not true Dara15. It appears you found a display bug since demolishing buildings should always grant you some sea shells.

    Regards,
    Steffi

I have no idea if I make a lot because I don't know what other players my level make. I just figure it's fake money and you can always make more. It's not like it's earning interest or something so might as well spend it. You can look at my farms- like I said I don't have everything upgraded or extra production facilities or anything.

Lets leave aside the first part about balance, because nothing is balanced. Is the Flower Farm available at level 10? 30? No. I'll just take your statement "Its only to keep the high levels busy..." and accept that as true. Are you planning to be 'Mid Level" forever?

Granted lower levels can get less out of the Island than higher levels. Thats true of the Main Farm, the G-Farm, and the Flower Farm. Its true of the other events with different levels of difficulty.

Not willing (as opposed to the 'not able' people keep saying, its a game of choices) to spend much time on the Island? Great... make an Island field and harvest oranges (or peanuts or grapes depending on how often you play) to your hearts content. Won't take much money, and the shells will grow. Will you get as many shells as a lvl 100? uh No. See above. You aren't supposed to.

Before the confusion restarts, I think woepsa just forgot to insert a comma in the post above? We've cleared this up in a couple of threads by now.

tl;dr: YES - YOU GET SHELLS FOR DEMOLISHING THINGS ON THE ISLAND FARM.

No, your greenhouse, airport, ship and everything else still are on your farm on the us 1 server. - I have seen it myself.

But I'm quit sure that you just have logged in on the another server than us 1 where you have your farm.
I'm also afraid that I waste my time now, because it seems like you don't have read the first helping answer I give you to you first complain for the same thing here:

The greenhouse will remain on your farm unchanged after the island resets and will also stay the same after you run out of shells. You can't get any more seeds until the event returns, so I recommend buying as many as you can to hold you until then. The Shelltrader will hang around for 3 days after the island is gone.
