I built 2nd orchard but did not have enough workers so upgraded house, this brought down happiness, put up running cost so I stored ornaments with lower happiness ,built deaer higher happiness ornaments . I would love the unicorn but not high enough level and cost 4000 gold. Hows best to get fireflies

The best drop rate for fireflies is from milling corn - see the drop rates in the link in my sig.

More generally, the main farm still makes profits when happiness is about +342% - so personally I don't worry about happiness during events, preferring to have more level 1 production facilities. L1 facilities give the highest production per staff member meaning you have more production for less staff. But this all takes space so I concentrated on buying land until the price got silly - more than about a weeks profit.

I'd make sure that the mill is always upgraded to the max as it makes events easier, but that's something to do in between events.

That's always the issue with events, I don't believe that people with full time jobs or in education can complete them at the default difficulty level chosen by the game. And due to the difficulty level selection bug (which hasn't been fixed months after they said it would be) you still get forced to play the game at the default level first. For a short time after the event finishes you will get the opportunity to buy the tower for gold - the more fireflies you have the lower the gold price will be.

For future events perhaps choose the level below the one you're playing, if you can - and plan ahead using my guide.

I have the very same problem - really annoying, and even though I should have been able to finish the event (if I had gotten fireflies in the same rate as yesterday) without any problem, now I don't stand a chance. So just out of principle I will not use any gold, I'll just be without the reward....

I ended up 173 short of fireflies Was offered tower for gold but was already building and have no room with 11 ornaments stored. Those with lower happiness Cannot expand to level 40 at level 36

bottom line with all these events, once I get a deco of each level from all events I am going to just do the easiest levels

And after I have 100 decos in storage, all m y regular decos are going bye bye

Just a note - don't just trash them - build them and destroy them. The picnic area brings in 45,000 farm dollars by doing this. The barbeque pit brings in 85,000 dollars. :)

That's actually not the best idea (or at least, not until your farm is fully expanded). Until you have all your buildings in their final arrangements, you need a variety of different size decorations available. A 5x5 decoration does not fit in a 7x3 hole!

That's going to be my strategy, except that I'll be doing only the highest difficulty levels and I'll be keeping my oddly-shaped decos for filler for exactly what Montuos said.

Planning on that exactly. I've already plowed over all my trees, flower patches and vegetable patches. The picnic areas are next because the Enchanted Tree is taking over.

I am at 5x5 grid now and I have never destroyed a deco with the exception of flower and vegetable garden and the lowest happiness trees. The reason is simple, I rearrange the decos of my farm every couple months and i need the smaller decos every so often for that. I also put in temporary orchards for major events to help me out and i use the smaller decos for that

I've destroyed tons of decos, but I make sure I have plenty of each size and only destroy the lowest happiness of each size.

I build a lot of decos, trying to upgrade what I have for maximum use of space.

I just had a look a my decorations in storage, all 3 farm are between 65-80%, I found I've still got 31 flowerbeds on the Gourmet Farm I'd kept to finish have 46 decos side task, much the same on the flower farm, every time I expanded a farm I stored everything dragged out the flowerbeds & other 4x4s, did the side task, restored the f/beds Then had fun rebuilding the farm.
I don't need the storage space & just haven't got around to selling them yet.
    Happy farming
    George
Unless they give us something new (island event maybe) fairy tales should start next tuesday, so start building stocks of special cabbage seeds just in case

I usually built trees en masse, then upgraded to the highest-happiness 4x4 decos available at the time. Eventually I'll be upgrading to the big trees, but that'll take a while.

Not next Tuesday, but the one after that. Remember, the Events trade off with the bee lady. Well, did. Now that Piggles is hanging around...no idea if stuff has changed.

Yes, good luck, everyone! And I'm really hoping luck will smile on me because this is my first-ever time attempting an event at the farm specialist level. I figured, why not have a go - the worst thing that can happen is that I'll fail and know better next time! :D

I also have a question about the level of difficulty. Is there a reason I cannot choose the difficulty level, All of them have been level 3. Someone in my co op suggested that I might need to finish them at that level before I could choose future levels. Does anyone know if this is the case? Or is there some other reason I cannot choose a difficulty level?
    Any ideas?

Yes, you have to succesfully finish a level 3 event to be able to choose difficulty next time. Bare in mind, that this holds for each event separately. So if you finished back to nature on level 3, when next time back to nature apears, you can choose dificulty level for that event.
