How do I get more dollars?

Aras RenAras Ren Posts: 7
I'm at a stand still. I can't expand my farms or upgrade anything! I have more than enough feed for the stables, so I'm getting goods and selling --but it's never enough money X(. Is is supposed to take this long until I can do something new??

What is your happiness? Try to get the happiness bar as far right as possible, this will reduce the amount of money needed to start producing stuff.
If you need a couple of million dollars to upgrade something, it will take a while to save the money to upgrade it.

Also, try adding another cowshed and apple orchard if you can find the room. Apples and milk sell for quite a bit, and are of course also handy in the bakery. Pig and chickens are also good to have more of if you find yourself running short on dung to make fertilizer. They produce it quickly/more often than cows. The more fertilizer you have, the more you can run your orchards, which in turn brings in the big bucks! ;)

I myself have 4 cowsheds, 3 pigs, and 4 chickens, all upgraded as often as I find the time to do so. And, I make a large upgrade or couple small ones everyday, still staying at around $750,000-$1,000,000 available at the end of each day. Just fiddle with things until you find something that works for you! If you are on for long periods of time, the quick stables like pigs and chickens would be a really good option for dung production.

Thanks so much for the answers!!! I'll see what I can do. I did find space for a second apple orchard, but no room for decorations, Ha ha. I need an expansion to put anything else on my farm, which costs too much. I'll just have to take it slowly. I will triple up on cow & pig sheds and decorations as soon as I'm able. Thank you again! :D

Aras, do your best to build better decorations. Since space is more important on your farm, I suggest getting as many Enchanted Trees as you can before this Event disappears. It's one of the best decorations available besides the ones you win from completing an event. 33 happiness for only 4x5 space. It'll more than double the happiness you have right now if you upgrade all you've got.

Especially focus on getting happiness upgraded on your gourmet farm. Since running costs and sales are higher there than on your main farm, your profit margin stands to be much higher there too.

Be very careful about upgrading or building anything new until you have a higher happiness. At your level, you aren't making huge profits to begin with, and high running costs eat up too much of them to advance quickly. If your smile-meter is not in the green, make getting it there your absolute priority on both farms.

Sadly, the 30s are (as I recall) the slowest and hardest levels to balance happiness and profits, but don't give up! Do have a look at Tetrissing your farm for some very good advice on making your farm layout more efficient; I think you still have a little more space in there. Also, this spreadsheet will be a good guide to "upgrading" your decorations; go for the best happiness per square (h/sq) available that you can afford and fit in.

Nice idea, but not possible for a level 32 player; enchanted trees aren't available until level 48.

Aras Ren, the Asian event won't be much help at your level either, but when the Hawaiian event rolls around, upgrade a few vegetable patches with Hawaiian fountains, and in the alien event get a bunch of mysterious relics (these are valuable at any level because 4x3) and a couple of crop circles. The Hawaiian fountains and the crop circles should be considered interim decorations to be replaced again later when you're high enough level for the really good ones (5x4 enchanted trees, and 5x5 thickets or Hawaiian beaches and especially event prize decorations), but the limited time event decorations are all much cheaper than regular decorations of comparable size and happiness.

Oops, I didn't realize that, Montuous. It's been too long since I've been barred from building a decoration because of my level. XD I've kinda forgotten about that.

Montuous is right about those alien relics. I've got an army of them on my main farm. I've only just started replacing them with Enchanted Trees after doing the math. They beat out the Hawaiian Fountain in happiness per square.

Lol, 'tetrissing'. I always was good at Tetris. My mom now defers to me for stocking the freezer because it's a side-by-side and it's hard to fit everything in there. Especially since we tend to buy way too much frozen stuff for our freezer.

Yes, yes! Thank you all so much. This is good. I will save up for the expansion to then use to get my happiness higher. I got a couple frog prince wells to put in place of flowerbeds. I'm getting a little more money, but this is tough... just gotta be really, really patient, I guess.

Yeah, it's tough, but it gets easier as you gain levels. The levels slow down, but the upgrading picks up. I'm level 70 and I'm back to running upgrades back to back sometimes.
