Pigs

I am looking at my farm and realize that I have no idea what pigs are used for, I have 3 pig stys and the only thing I get out of the pigs is money, does anyone remember if the shop on the old gourmet farm had a use for pigs? I am thinking of getting rid of 2 of them because I have 2 donkey coops and 2 duck coops which will make up for the dung I do not produce in the pig stys. After I get rid of 2 stys I can put 2 high happiness Items on the farm after I reorganize it.
The question is, do I need 3 pig stys using my reasoning?

There is no use of Pigs in gourmet farm as well as flower farm. Pigs can only be sold, not be processed like milk and eggs. Well, that really depends on how often you can play. If you're on a lot, its best to have chickens. If not, then pigs and cows are better though. If you participate in the events, try to have 4 pigs for the Asian event.

The only thing pigsty's are good for is indeed for the money.
There are events that requires pigsty's and also there are smaller missions that requires pigsty's (when you did all upgrades on main farm). In my opinion 3 pigsty's is good enough for those events and small tasks.

No; pigs are just like donkeys — they produce dung and you can sell them, but they have no other direct use. The donkey is directly comparable to a pig; their cycle is exactly three times as long, and they produce a little more dung than running a pig three times. The ducks do not give even remotely as much dung when you factor in their 8-hour cycle.

The only other reason to have pigs is events. You have to produce pig feed in the camping event, which is a waste if you have no pigs, and you have to feed pigs in the Asian event, which takes an interminable amount of time if you don't have enough of them. But if you don't do events, then that's irrelevant.

I plan on getting 1 of every happiness item in all events and in the Asian event I need 3 78, 64, 54 after the Asian event comes and goes I am planning on getting rid of 2 pig stys and have 1 left, If I ever do need them again I will just build it again

It's possible there is a future plan for the other raw materials like pigs and donkeys, but it would be added in one of the future updates with the new features. They do not currently exist yet.

Just be patient. It takes a long time to build a new feature right and make sure it doesn't screw with other existing features.

If you are truly unhappy with having more pig stys than you want, you could demolish them. When an event shows up you could build temporary pig stys to accommodate your needs during the event. Then when you've finished a pig-related task, demolish the pig stys and go about your way, with your happiness back to where you want it.

But for me, 4 level 6 pig stys are on my farm. They produce dung on a regular basis, and if you are in a cooperative that has the pigs' research maxed out, you get a bit more for selling them. It's true they don't bring in a lot of cash. It's also true that they would be delicious sold in the gourmet farm as bacon and smoked bbq items (so now making myself hungry) but Big Farm has pointed out there won't be any type of slaughtered animal dishes in the future.

If your lifestyle makes it tough to be online a lot, then going with longer production time stables makes sense. Otherwise, if you can pop online at your leisure, then pigs are pretty helpful.

There is also achievement points to be had for pigs. I currently have to collect 54,000 piggies to get my next set of achievement points for pigs. They do have a role to play, no achievement points for donkeys though! :-)
