Are there any singers?

I grew up playing guitar and violin. One of my Dad's friends who played on the worship team gave my sister and I lessons every Sunday. I always sang along, and people said I had a good voice. As I got older, I sang in choir at church. But I've never had vocal lessons or training. I also took violin lessons for a short time. In college, I led worship for our church college group, and after college, played and sang for church worship team.

Now, I go out once in a while and karaoke. I'd love to find a band and play around, belt some notes. But I don't see myself auditioning for American Idol, or making it a career.

I do sing and occasionally record on a karaoke website (not sure if I can name it here).

Just wondering if there are any gamers that moonlight as singers too?

hi soapie..ive been writing lirics for about 20 years now..im 31...started off interested in pop at that age, then found offspring silverchair (early)..then 180'ed into coolio wit the flow, and grand daddy iu,nwa..but for the last 14 yeats ive been right into writing metal lirics..not exactly worship music..i absolutely love writing.not that im try'n to do anything about it it just gives me a great sense of accomplishment when i finish a song.most people dont class my musical preferance as singing, they would say its screaming or growling..but if you take the time to understand the lirics they can be very deep...I would love to try to wrie something with you..

Well, the beauty of music is that is an expression of one's self. What you're saying, reminds me of "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N Roses. Great rock song, but the lyrics are beautiful. I heard it was written for his daughter, but Wikipedia says it was written for his girlfriend.

I'm not so much into worship music anymore. I do enjoy it when I got to church once in a blue moon.

Lately I've been enjoying what's classified as "classic" rock- Joan Jett, Blondie, Heart. I'd love to do an open mic set with all their great songs. I just need to work up the nerve....

Hi soapie, Great Thread Idea ! I started in my early teens playing around with any and every instrument I could get my hands on and I love love loved it. I still do! My heart belongs mostly to Piano and Guitar and I mostly play guitar and bass now. I have played in a number of bands and what my singing may lack in God given talent, I make up for with enthusiasm. Since childhood I have always written songs, I can't seem to stop myself from writing. lol Some people think a few of my songs were okay. I highly recommend writing songs. It is a real blessing when a little royalty cheque shows up out of the blue.
You're the Best Soapie, I hope you are enjoying your quiet weekend away from u know who. hahaha

Great to know that you too are musical, Uncle Willy. I did not know we shared that in common!

I used to write songs when I was little, nothing much or fancy. I haven't had any inspiration lately. I'm not sure how I would feel about someone else singing my songs. I'd honestly rather be the singer!
