Seems the best way to deal with a "TO HARD" question is to just ignore it. That's call "The Mushroom Syndrome" and I suspect that there are others sick of being treated this way as well, not just me.
Hang on, I'll just board up the windows and doors so its really dark, that way all GG has to do is continue to feed us manure. You guys seem good at that, most of the GF upgrades produce lots of it.
Curiosity question - did you check your happiness numbers before you started demolishing the house or after it had started? It changes as soon as you hit demolish so after the house has been torn down if you checked right after you click demolish it would not have changed any. I just tore down one of my houses and confirmed this.
Well, I see six level 4 houses on your gourmet farm, which adds up to -720, so your second set of numbers is correct and the first set is false.
When did you record your first set? If you did it after you started demolishing your 7th house, you wouldn't see any difference, because the (un)happiness is removed as soon as the demolition begins, unlike adding decorations, where the happiness isn't added until construction completes.
I checked the numbers before I started the demolition because I was curious as to how much difference it would actually make.
Seems the numbers don't always tell the whole story
Once again, Thanks for your help. I'll get rid of another house and compare that again.
This is the best I can find to answer your question about the upcoming update so show some patience until next Wednesday.
now this is bad news.
It never occured to me that yea. Fully researched apples are worth more to just sell than they might be using in the bakery.
Oh my.
I sure hope they bought more than a one dollar calculator over there. Factor this into the equation.
Your personal level is not calculated into the equation, happiness of course counts for overall production costs. ... for me (at 90 happiness) a level 6 bakery with fully researched apples individually and a 15% increase on fruit cake I will make 68k more profit for fruitcakes rather than selling the ingredients outright.
Not to great, but hoping with a level 7 and 20% increase in goods with research it will be better. But still okay to run overnight I think.
It is a known bug - go to the farm management (the screen you sell items from) and to the tab with the white pan - sell some of the inventory . . . sometimes selling off apple pies only will retrigger it . . . sometimes it requires selling items from all bakery items that are in storage.
I've not read the whole forum, but I have seen the majority and it all seems to be the same complaints over and over again. "The Bakery isn't profitable!" "this update is the worst!" "I want the old GF back!", ad infinitum. All of this is probably pushing many people away before they even try and figure out whether it'll even work for them. I get that for a lot of people who had research bonuses on sell prices of the ingredients that the bakery really wasn't profitable, and GGS really did drop the ball on that one for not figuring out those potential prices themselves. I honestly hope that the new prices work out much better for everyone (I don't have any research done, probably won't ever, so I don't care to check that myself; but for the record, with no research bonuses, the Bakery is VERY profitable, the updated prices coming soon even more so).
But I see people going on about how much profit they get (or more often than not, lose) per hour, per HALF HOUR, and I'm just thinking "Really, guys? Really?! For Pete's sake, it's just a game. A FREE BROWSER game." Geez, and I thought I over-thought this game too much.
But all that aside, does anyone actually know just how much profit the Restaurant itself gave out? Too tired to find the graphs myself right now, but there are probably some floating around somewhere. Go ahead and do the math. With everyone (either silently or loudly) bemoaning the loss of the marzipan ice cream, let's talk about that one for a moment. Think about the ingredients, and how much time and money it took to gather and make them. Once the Ice Cream was made, it didn't matter much cause 'hey, nice! $280,000+ right into the bank!' But when you think about all the costs to get that payday, that $280,000 doesn't seem so high anymore, does it?
So please, everybody, chill out. It's not even been a week, yet. Everything is new and different, and we're all forced to start from scratch to get things running again, but it will happen! It's always like this when new changes come for anything. The warning, the anticipated excitement/dread, the arrival, followed quickly by the extreme onslaught of dislike and cries for the return of the old, that will eventually become acceptance and a realization that 'yes, this is better'. A month, 2 months from now, everything will be ironed out, the GF will once again become the well-oiled machine it was, and we'll all be glad for the change. Just give it a chance to settle before completely writing it off as useless.
TL;DR: The old gourmet farm was not as great as everyone is remembering it being. It had several gigantic flaws of its own that have now, for the most part, been fixed. The only reason the new gourmet farm is being analyzed so deeply right now is because it's new and nobody knows what to really make of it yet.
Personally, I love this new farm update. The old Gourmet was clunky and annoying to use and build up, but I used it anyway because the restaurant did give some better profit than just selling everything. I'm not particularly happy about the increased plot prices, or the production times for some of the new buildings (14 hours for peaches, ouch...), but those are just how they are now, so I can deal. It may be taking a while to get everything running smoothly while I collect the feed and fertilizer to keep it going, but once I do, it will be a very useful part of my BigFarm game. So thank you GGS developers for giving us this new update. I'm looking forward to any others that come in the future.
For instance, our apples sell for $56 each and eggs for $20 each (that includes coop researches).
Apple turnover from the bakery (level 4) uses 712 eggs and 570 apples which would by themselves sell at $48,600.
The apple turnover only sells for $44,495, a loss of $1665.
Similar situation with the Apple Pie. Products would sell for $107,140 whilst the Pie itself only sells for $103,500 - a loss of $3640.
The other 2 products sell for a minor profit, about $4400 per hour which is a pittance for the 100s of 1000s spend for building and upgrading.
Could the team please again go over the prices for the products in the bakery, please.
Developers are working on this already - we expect the new update for prices on Wednesday when they are planning to do the new update. If you want to check out the new prices go to the last official announcement at this link http://en.board.goodgamestudios.com/bigfarm/showthread.php?104145-Bakery-changes-with-the-next-update&p=1180299#post1180299
Thanks for the tables Myriad.
I am the first to agree that there are many factors that can change the profit outcome of the game. Your situation as described probably fits close to a lot of players, so they should have similar outcomes. However, if your table for Almond Muffins is correct, once a cooperative has completed ALL the research, it's members will ALWAYS be losing money over selling raw ingredients. It sounds like GG may be fixing the problem with Apple Turnovers but leaving or creating a problem with Almond Muffins.
The game knows for how much each player can sell their ingredients and products (based on co-op research, or lack thereof), so couldn't it use those numbers to calculate the bakery goods selling price on an individual basis just as it does the research adjustments?
- GG sets a base price and a run cost.
- The game sees a 5% selling increase for Milk.
- The game then calculates the profit of selling the amount of milk required, plus the same for the other ingredients used.
- The game adds 15% for the sale of the final bakery goods produced.
That would allow all players the same percentage of profit above selling raw goods, and all variables are already included. All differences in profits (or losses) from making and selling goods would be based on the individual's style of play, such as high happiness or "factory farming", building levels, etc., not on a static table of numbers that has no chance of conforming to the many factors that effect profitability. Small players/co-ops will have less cash profits, larger players/co-ops will have more, but everyone will always gain something, thus still encouraging us to push ahead, not discouraging us from using and enjoying major parts of the game. Why would a cooperative want to do any more research on the ingredients used in the Bakery, if it is going to reduce the profitability effect of the Bakery products for which they are now grown in the first place? They could simply use the Bakery research profits as a replacement for the ingredient research profits, and make out better; that eliminates the need to pay for researchers through an entire section of the research list, undermining a large portion of the current game.
"But I see people going on about how much profit they get (or more often than not, lose) per hour, per HALF HOUR, and I'm just thinking "Really, guys? Really?! For Pete's sake, it's just a game. A FREE BROWSER game." Geez, and I thought I over-thought this game too much."
Whay YOU atacking others? It's just a game, everyone have his decision and way to play game. What You are moust important? And don't reeded everything YOU can see what is what? Pleas show us YOUR "Gourment Farm" and how much YOU investing and how long will take to have something.
I see nothing in your long text, just to show US how important you want to be.
Questions:
1. Why are there donkeys on the Gourmet Farm. Surely they belong on the main farm along with the cows, as their Dung is a raw product and is shared between Main and Gourmet farm for the purpose of making fertiliser, which incidentally cannot be shared between farms, even though it's made from a shared raw product.???
2. Why the Goats?? I could understand the goats milk was being used for goat milk related products it's not, instead it's just thrown in with the cow milk??
3. Same with the ducks, why are they on the Gourmet Farm when their eggs are not used for specific Duck related baked products?
Seems to me that the players are not being considered when these changes were discussed .. where is the logic in making regressive changes on in a section of a game that is not broken and has reasonable player return for effort?
Thinking caps need to be used to bring some logical thinking into this game. The changes to the Gourmet Farm as regressive, not progressive. One must think of reality, where things are in perspective an logical.
The new Gourmet farm is, in my view, a revamp that is not in the best interest of the players or the game, The regressive Downgrade removes incentive to work on that farm now as the so called improvements made are actually detrimental and have removed values from the farm that were there before, a giant backward step!
BTW ...
I am not a Co-Op player, Why have I been playing this game without joining a Co-Op, you ask? Well, I play the game for relaxation and pleasure, I am not playing to win or make stacks of money and be the top of some list. To join a Co-Op would put obligations to work with others, invest money for others, and be obligated to login and play daily, lest I 'let the team down'.
So I prefer to amble along and play the game as a leisure interest, but again, the new Gourmet Farm has removed a chunk of leisure from that farm, thanks to a bad decision by the Devs.
Thinking caps on people, it's not all about players buying gold to pay your salary, it's about fair and equitable play, so your customers (the players) are encouraged to play by inventiveness, not making regressive changes to something that was working well .....
Happy Gaming folks .... while it lasts! Who knows what other regressive changes are in store for BigFarm ...
well said! there's nothing specific to "Gourmet farm" on the new "Gourmet farm".
it seems to be just a "variant" of the main farm.
i still don't understand what's the basic of the new "Gourmet" farm? like the "Flower" farm has flowers...
the ONLY "GOURMET" thing is Bakery, nothing else!
if the GGS really wanted it to be so, then they better had "merged" it with the Main farm; i.e a single larger farm....
it would have become easier compared to "jumping b/w farms".
One wonders why this revamp couldn't simply have been the fourth farm, and leave the gourmet farm as it was.
You really should do the math before you state things like this, you may make a profit on the bakery with the new update but it is still a massive decrease on the profit that was made before and it most certainly is not very profitable as you say.
Making huge profits is not important but it is important that players make enough so they can move forward at a speed that does not make the game boring. Bored players leave, they don't buy gold, the game therefore does not raise enough income, therefore no further updates, end of game.
obviously!
only if the game devs used their brains...
I added a workshop to my gourmet farm with the hopes that it would reduce the ingredient requirements for the recipes in the bakery. Unfortunately, it appears that the ingredient requirements remained the same. I can't tell if this is an error, a display error, or the intended effect.
Thanks
example, peach or apple jam, fruit juice from citrus orchard, pancakes with honey or some peach jam, compote of peach, etc.
