Is anybody buying new land on gourmet farm before update?

I have a question for everybody. Is anybody buying new parcels of land on the Gourmet Farm? Or are you holding off until you see what all the changes are going to be? I am trying to decide whether to buy new parcel of land, or just wait until after the changes are made on the Gourmet Farm.

Would welcome input on what other people are doing and not doing on Gourmet Farm right now.

Yes i just bought two lots in the Gourmet Farm at the WWW1 server. Regardless of the coming changes we still need the lots to build it so this way i'll just clear lots wait and be ready to start to build when the update happens.

Allow me to thank you for your spirit of forward thinking, instead of crying over what you're losing! I've seen far too little of that since the announcement. :)

I've already got all but 2 plots on the gourmet farm, so there's no good reason for me not to stick with what I have. We also will have plenty of empty land to start with, since everything that couldn't stay exactly the same will be removed and will have to be rebuilt.

I am very much looking forward to the smaller footprints of the revamped buildings, though! From the images in the in-game announcement, I'm guessing the almond orchards are dropping down to 7x7 like apples and cherries, and the gardens look like they're going to be 8x6 like fields. That should give enough additional space to allow me to get my happiness back up to a reasonable level again. Hopefully losing the restaurant and the dairy will give enough space to build a suitable assortment of ducks, donkeys, peaches, and whatever else, too.

I personally have ceased development on the gourmet farm (I'm finally developing my long-neglected flower farm instead), but I do plan to run it normally right up until the last day. It would be foolish to lose the income, plus I expect to get back a decent amount of money from whatever non-continuing items get sold from my storage.

I don't think it's a bad idea to continue developing the gourmet farm if you want to, though, because even though you will have to rebuild after the change, you can still get experience and other rewards from completing tasks. And of course since GGS are reimbursing us every dollar spent on buildings that get removed, you lose nothing for it.

Not only am I buying land, but I am continuing to upgrade the buildings. The way I see it I am getting my money back from the upgrades, getting the increased production in the interim period, and the XP/rewards associated with my tasks. It is only costing me time.

    The invest

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess I've been a little apprehensive about spending any more money on the Gourmet Farm until we see exactly how things are going to change. Want to make sure I have enough money to rebuild whatever needs to be rebuilt once the changes are finally done. I've been running the restaurant, dairy and bakery. Just haven't upgraded anything, or bought land.

I'm trying to be positive about the upcoming changes. My problem on the Gourmet Farm is things are so expensive to upgrade and need so many workers to run them. I right away built 2 meadows on Gourmet Farm so as to be able to grow 2 crops at once. Of course that took up space I should have saved for houses, dairy, or bakery. I've slowed down since I know better now. Taking things slower and trying not to get ahead of myself so to speak.

I've also continued upgrading and expanding on gourmet farm. Upgraded 2 gardens from lvl 1 to lvl 3, built lvl 2 dairy and built 2 orchards. Also I've bought 3 or 4 expansions. All of that to maximize production of ice cream, since the update is coming at the end of the month, so why not to use gourmet farm to maximum until update.

I have not upgraded anything on my Gourmet farm , but I have been expanding my land. Those empty spaces give me a chance to increase happiness with cheap decos while waiting on the changes to take place. I still keep my Gourmet farm very active still (well needed money) and I use that money to upgrade on my Flower farm. Can't wait to get all that money back though after the upgrade. Plan on using all those funds for expanding flower farm.

My us1 farm is completely developed on the resturant farm, so there is nothing left to build or upgrade on it. My skn and www1 farm have LOTS to build yet. I am getting all my points that I can from building on the resturant farms. We get all the money that we have invested in them returned if they are not included in the update. I will have plenty enough farmcash and space to rebuild.

I bought my last 2 lots because they are very cheep compared to the other two farms. Wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up 2 or 3 times that.

I wish that I'd known back then what was going to happen, and I would have bought all my land plots on the gourmet farm. The exorbitant land upgrade costs and level requirements unfairly favors those who bought their land prior to the update. We should have been warned this was going to happen.

I feel similarly with regard to the new research. We were informed that they would change to go along with the new Gourmet farm changes. But not that the costs would skyrocket beyond imagination.
