Just a big thank you for this game. Especially the assorted events.
I really do enjoy these.

Looking forward to the space event again. One piece of decor fits in smaller spaces that nothing else fits. (And it's darn cool.)

That's all.

I also like that thing you win in the space event. Looks like a big atom. I want many many more of those. :)

Strangely enough... I now don't need deco's at all... at least not on my Main Farm... I now run a +300% Super Farm... or at least I'm building it up to a Super Farm... not a deco in sight but heaps of production buildings instead. Great for doing missions and projects... I just hope that the mission revamp doesn't change the missions so dramatically that all my efforts are for nought.

300%?????????????? Your workers must be drowning in money right now......... Won't you at least put 1 tiny deco? Maybe somewhere next to the pigsty if you really want to be mean? ;)

Or maybe downwind from the outhouse? I'll consider it.

Undertaker133 how do you run a farm without decos at all? I don't get that.

Admins... is there any way to see someones farm who posted here? Like a link to their farm in a bio or something?
I'd love to see what undertaker is talking about.

    Hi Undertaker,
This seems to be getting popular, check out Heavenlyfarms farm she's done the same thing, but with blue house's, it sure helps with projects, all that extra production.
I see your doghouse is close to your cherry orchard, that's good, I had to put a tree next to mine, there was a yellow mark on my Christmas tree, I blamed the dog, hahaha.
    Happy Farming

Until you have built everything and dont really need to save cash i cant understand how having no decorations is a good idea? not even the event prizes ones?
  • edited 18.01.2014
    lol @ george3... re doghouse!!

Minadequate, decos take up a huge ground area that can be used for extra production buildings/fields instead. As I take the decos off the farm, the happys very quickly reach the maximum +300% cost. All other decos that remain are wasted space, so I have removed them all, even the event prize ones. As a result, I have (at the moment, as it is still a work in progress) 12 chook pens, 5 cow stables, 4 pig pens, 8 fields, 8 apple orchards and 2 cherry orchards. I will be getting 2 more apple orchards. Of course, I have the 2 barns, composter, mill, etc... Oh and also the partridge in a pear tree.... and not a blue house in sight.

I still don't get it. All the production in the world won't help if it costs as much to get it going as what you earn in the end. How do you make it without the decor objects?

Undertaker, could you post a screenshot of your farm? I would like to see it if possible :)

Undertaker, I've considered taking this path myself, however I'm concerned about the profit levels - not that farm dollars is in any way a problem for me right now. Do you still find that you're making enough of a profit for this to be worthwhile?

I might actually just give it a go for a day to see how it turns out.

It does take quite some time to set it up because you're putting in new buildings, etc. and have to take the time to upgrade them too. Actually, no, forget about it everyone... it's a bad idea... don't want you all doing it then saying "That Undertaker doesn't have a clue what he's doing here... He needs to be put away somewhere where he'll be taken care of." It's only any good if you are willing to be online for hours at a time, otherwise you can't churn through the production needed to make it work profitably. It suits me but won't suit everyone.

    Forget I posted.

there are LOTS of ways to think of how to play this game. If your way is working for you and you are able to level up and be able to build as you want--i think that is great ;) . I have never been a fan of zero running costs because i end up buying ingredients since i have no space for fields to make feed, so then less animals, then less poop and soon can't start the orchards--endless cycle.

The events and the side tasks seem to be my main focus, so much of my buildings reflect what I need to get through them quickly.

i think the general logic behind the Undertaker's approach is that after a certain happiness level, the cost to produce is stable (i.e., the minimum happiness at + 300% running costs); therefore, a better use of space at that level is to boost productivity. the added productivity at the minimum happiness doesn't incur additional running costs. thus, there reaches a point, where the added productivity will actually offset the running cost that is associated with having no decorations. i would assume the threshold to offsetting running costs is quite high, which is why this approach requires a bit of time capital.

as monica79538 states it just goes to show that there is not one way to run a productive farm in this game. wish we could see a picture of the farm ecosystem of Undertaker and HeavenlyFarms. for i think another way that this approach works is if your 2D and 3D farms are built up quite well. they essentially require you to have a very productive 1D farm to yield dung and certain produce (e.g., wheat, milk, cabbage, eggs).

I still wish I could see undertakers farm. What is the au server??? All I know of is the US server, UK, and international. I logged in with my international account and did a search but "no player" found.
Tried removing the number/s after undertaker because sometimes the forums add numbers to your name.
    But no.
    Grrrrr.

That's me above. Why it shows my us account is beyond me. I have my international farm open right now.

Well I figured out how to locate the AU server. (Middle bar, find the flag.)
But... since I do not have a farm on that server, is there any way to look up a player on it and view their farm?

I do have several farms started on other servers--I don't play all of them though :) When someone posts a question about profits, happiness, production, etc.--I find it easier to go see their farm.

First off, on topic...Artmaker, major kudos to you. I love your positive post stating your simple gratitude to GGS for this delightful game. Sadly, a nice friendly comment can be quite elusive here in the forums as so many are more focused on one or two aspects of the game that are thought to be incredibly disagreeable and demands for changes are made. The many wonderful things about this game seem to be carelessly dismissed since many individuals appear to think that the developers need to make the game suited to their personal wants and needs.
I have my pet peeves about a few things and wonder why they can't be done differently. But because of the fact that I am technology stupid and have no clue what goes into an online game, I am well aware that even if I think a certain change seems like it would be easy to make, with my lack of knowledge in the field I have no real way of knowing one way or the other. So I just try to be understanding. But in the end, I still find a lot more to enjoy about this game then not! So again, wonderful post! Now if I may stray fr a moment...
Strangely enough... I now don't need deco's at all... at least not on my Main Farm... I now run a +300% Super Farm... or at least I'm building it up to a Super Farm... not a deco in sight but heaps of production buildings instead. Great for doing missions and projects... WHAT? THE? FUDGE?! You have nothing but production on your farm and NO decos at ALL?? And you make it work for you??!! Seriously?! That is totally INSANE...........insanely AWESOME that is!! That is such incredible game play! Yeah, I couldn't play it that way though for sure! Not enough time OR patience on my end. Also once, with an old user I tanked on happiness and ceased to make any money! Gave up and started anew! That is a hardcore strategy and I imagine you have to know what you doing to make it work. OMG, Undertaker! I just totally idolize you now! I'm want to to start a farm on the AU just to see this! To be successful with such a strategy, you have got to be a Big Farm God! You, are my hero! Very, very cool!

I realised one day that my wife also thought I was a God... but then I woke up from the dream I was having and reality hit me once more.

I'm not the first to have done this, although I had thought about doing it for some time before I actually did. Like I said somewhere else though: it isn't for everyone.. first make sure you have done all of the side quests to do with happy's or you will miss out on XP... also it's only my Main Farm, not the other two and I'm online for hours every day.

Yes, why not start a farm on the Aus 1 server and have a look at mine? Feel free.

Lol, no decos is still wierd for me :) Please tell me that you at least have a whip for the workers......... Ah, um um I mean to make whip cream :D
  • edited 25.01.2014
I could get into so much trouble with my reply if I didn't control myself, so I will control myself like the good little whipped boy that I am. Yes, I have a big stock whip to use on them because they have to do so much more work than on other farms. 12 cackle berries, 4 oinkers, 7 mooies, 9 apples, 2 cherries and 8 fields atm, plus all the other usual cast of heroes. Still have a little room left. Will probably make it 8 mooies.
