My main problem with all these extra levels is having enough workers withut losing too much happiness. I need to wait for the architect to upgrade a house or two to level 5.

How about a prime day which forces the architect to appear for a certain period of time?

Who cares about the seed term? There are other words with inappropriate letters in them "therapist".....shall we change this word too? Its an actual plant name not a malicious word.

    Good point Gizmo.
No one seems to have a problem sending their kids to "the rapist" when having problems at home or school.
K, so that aside, if GGS is fine with the name why does its filter target the word?
The word is either fine or it isn't, GGS.
    Make up your mind.
Will there be any effect on production/construction times on other farms too (Gourmet and Flower) during "New Prime Day" or is it just Main farm?

    I second this question.

I agree that in a sense it is ridiculous to be so "upset" by a word but I think the main question to ask is, do we need to use words that can be offending to some people when we can use synonyms that are not offensive to anyone.

    That's just my opinion :)

How about that it's been called that for hundreds of years? I thought it was only Americans who were such pantywaists about 'offensive words' - like the Chinese year of the ROOSTER!!!

The name derives from the Latin for turnip, rāpa or rāpum. If someone can show me a direct link between what everyone's afraid of when they read that word, and turnip, I might take that into consideration.

That a word has historically been used doesn't mean that it SHOULD continue to be used. (See this for an example.)

But I think Bourletta hit it on the head:

    (my emphasis.)

Why not just call it something else that has much less potential to be offensive? (And also why not just call it something else that won't get stuck in GGS's own filters?)

I was just talking about the new seed in my co-op, and have had no problem typing rapeseed. So they seem to let that go through the filter. Update hasn't actually happened yet, and won't for at least another 48 hours, I say we wait and see what it is actually called in the game, rather than what Latten has called it. Perhaps Latten's translation is not correct and the game's translation will actually be canola (no offence Latten). No more hullaballoo about something that hasn't actually happened yet.

And, for my off topic comment, I really have met canadians that always end in" ... eh?" 'Course they're usually living here in the States and may be doing it in order to be funny and purposefully stereotypical. You Cannucks can be so funny!

Could we please stop this debate about a word that is simply NOT going to work with the censor and will therefor have to be changed to something else. The only reason I see why GGS decided to use rapeseed is because they are European based and that in EU, it is a non-controversial commonly used word. What baffles me is not the fact that they maybe failed to consider that this term has somewhat a disturbing connotation to ppl that are outside of EU, but rather the fact that rapeseed will not even work with their system of censorship. To me, it is, again, bad planning, very similar to the wonderful idea of the Red Zzz that doesn't take into account the water tower and therefor does not work properly.

I think they (GGS) should maybe take a bit more time to test, analyse and weigh the impact of any changes they make to the game BEFORE implementing it. Microsoft business model is far from being a role model!

    /end rant

But I still think that "rapeseeds" should be changed to something less "controversial".

The word "rapeseed" isn't controversial. The word "rape" is contained within it, but that's quite irrelevant. Rapeseed is the genuine name of a seed and has nothing to do with what you might think when you read it. But why do you think of "rape" when reading "rapeseed"? If I say "sex" when talking about genders, would you get offended? Does cannabis spring to mind if I say "potato"? To be quite honest, thinking "rape" when reading "rapeseed" is immature.

As for the idea of it being somehow offensive or explicit to children, if a child asks their parent what "rapeseed" is, the answer is "a plant". I don't see how that's a problem at all.

I kindly invite you to RE-READ my post and try to understand what I have written. You are obviously missing the whole point I'm trying to make and I cannot explain it better than what I did. Your reply also quite offensive and insulting. Calling people immature is certainly not a way too go to resolve anything and only throws oil on a fire that is already burning too fiercely. I kindly invite you to apply a bit more reservation and consideration of others when you post.

And isn't it so unsurprising that you are from EN 1 server and not US 1. You just proven my point about the cultural difference and significance of a word. You don't see a problem because you are self-centered and cannot place yourself in other's shoes... which shows and proves that you lack empathy. Hope you raise your kid to be different than what you display here because mate, not impressed at all. Really.

    Cheers,

Why is that irrelevant, if it can be hurtfull to people?
Rapeseed is the genuine name of a seed and has nothing to do with what you might think when you read it.

I have learned it is the genuine name, but again, why does that have nothing to do with the fact it might hurt people?
But why do you think of "rape" when reading "rapeseed"?

I think rape when I see the word because it's so clear over there at the beginning of the word and because it seems to jump towards me.
If I say "sex" when talking about genders, would you get offended? Does cannabis spring to mind if I say "potato"?

Nope, I wouldn't and no it doesn't. With the latter I even had to look for the link.

To be quite honest, thinking "rape" when reading "rapeseed" is immature.

Or it is a sign of having gone through a very bad and nasty experience which makes you very sensitive to the word. To call those people immature is very offending!

Well, first off, I will not answer your first question as it is, like you rightfully point out, totally off topic.

Secondly, of course it works both ways. If you think for ONE second that I am of the opinion that only MY CULTURE counts and should be respected and taken into account, I'm sorry my friend, but you could not be more in the wrong. I would fight for YOUR CULTURAL RIGHTS any day as if they were MINE. And no, I din't think that you are having a go at me. Your message, although the first part is a tad weird to me, is not offending and is on topic, except the first part. So, no buddy, I have no problems with you mate.

    Cheers and be well!

Yeah, I hear ya and know why you are laughing. You are basically pointing me out for talking from both sides of my mouth which is incoherent. But, that Bob fellow really didn't understand a word I said, didn't take time nor make an effort to understand either, insulted me and so on. So yeah, he got himself a little free ride courtesy of yours truly. Respect is a 2 way street and when someone acts the way he did with me, I don't care who the hell you are, you are going to get from me. I'm sorry, but I am unfortunately allergic to ppl that suffer from cranial rectosis, AKA butthead syndrome. So enjoy the giggles... they're on me!

I may be jumping the gun here, but how much longer until we get these Level 6 and 7 structure to Level 10? With the mill upgrade, it does seem that the Barns could use a new level or 4.

Brassica napus is the common name in europe,GGS are based in Germany,Europe,We are on a English Forum,And it is a real name for a plant.
I Question GGS whats the purpose of this plant in a Event, Because other event seeds servers no purpose other than selling,If the name of a seed is causing problems or like this seeds seems to be,Why have it in the first place.
I can see why some players question this seed and instead of keeping going round and round in circles,Why do you just wait for Latten to explain why its in game.
And for all you players that live in a country that talks English this is not a cultural difference.
The world doesnt always go after the USA lol.You talk English right?

Some who are upset over the name are not Americans, by the way.

I don't think anyone feels strongly enough about keeping the name to convince anyone that we should ride roughshod over the feelings of those who find it offensive. My personal point of view? Change the name. In case some got a different idea from my posts.

I agree with you that it's not ONLY Americans that are upset about the name as I am sure that players from all over the world could be ill at ease with the name.

Where are the moderators here? This is way off-topic. It's hard to find a post in this thread about the actual game, you know, Big Farm, what the forum is suppose to be about.

My main concern, game-wise, is in order to get enough workers for all the upgrades, my running costs are gonna go way into the red with little hope of recovery unless I fork out on a lot of real cash.

Will there be any effect on production/construction times on other farms too (Gourmet and Flower) during "New Prime Day" or is it just Main farm?

Could I repeat my question again too, please? :D
Prime Day: Production and Construction time reduction
With this new Prime Day bonus, your production and construction times are reduced by 50% each.
This bonus takes effect on all actions that are started after activating it. All production and construction processes, started after gaining the bonus, are completed twice as fast
Does that mean forever? In perpetuity?

I want to save time by not quote the original person that mentioned it (too many posts on other topcis), but say that we really should be offered the additional upgrades as main farm tasks. It's a great suggestion.

I've upgraded many buildings to the level just before the architect is needed and think that adding XP to these upgrades is a great idea. At the level I'm at now, I'm finding it takes an extremely long time to level up. I really need to get 4 levels higher to upgrade my mixing plant, which is desperately lagging behind in producing enough liquid fertilizer for my olive grove and citrus orchard. I really don't understand how these 2 buildings on the flower farm were offered as early tasks if the mixing plant can't supply enough to run them on a consistent basis.

That is why I really would like to see XP offered for upgrading buildings beyond the levels that we had access to before. Please consider this suggestion and if you can't apply it to the upgrades in the "Eggs files" then maybe future ones? Thanks!

Oh and something off topic: my cooperative is looking for 1 new member. You can find us in the cooperative introductions under "Green Giants", thank you!

Some people are multilingual and can appreciate the potential offensiveness of a word that's not in their own language. And it's not even just about who is offended--for PRACTICAL reasons you can't even use the word because it doesn't pass the mail filters.

Do you seriously think that people who are rape survivors, or know people who are, are all going to come forward and tell you on a farming forum to change the name of the seed for the sake of numbers?

I am excited for the mill and field upgrades. Oh and I hope some of these new decorations have increased happiness per square. We need more compensation for the increase demand for more workers. It's not easy keeping them happy.
