Suggestion to encourage co-op participation

I play a game on my I Phone called Castle Story. In this game you find and have "friends" you visit their kingdoms and "help" in certain buildings. It gives that player a better percentage when they collect from that building and give the player that helped a higher social rating which shows others how active they are. You can also gift a couple people a day with certain general items that you need to build, expand etc. There are certain quests that you need to collect a certain # of items from your friends as part of completing the quest. It doesn't "cost" anyone anything to be a good "friend " or to gift and is only beneficial to active participants.
OK, here is my suggestion - Could we possibly do something similar in this game?
Your co-op are your friends and "helping" can be watering the co-op tree and possibly fields and orchards. The gifting and social status though I think would help everyone all the way around. I think it would help lower lvl players and encourage inactive co-op members be more active. It will also help co-op leaders see just how active some ppl really are and encourage co-op participation. So, what do y'all think? Any other suggestions? Let me know what you think.

I think that's what the tree watering thingy was for, but I'm not sure.

Why pay someone for working with the co-op which is what they are supposed to do , they get good pay when they do research and raise the pay of a product.

i think its a good idea.my uncle is in our co-op and cant be on every day and asked me to help with his farm when he cant be on and even gave me his password but i cant because of the terms of the game.this would be a nice way to help out your fellow man.

I think there should be an extra info page in the coop to see how active someone is. Like they collected so much corn for the coop project or they joined this research project. For each member. This way the leader knows hey this person does nothing but gets rewards for our hard work, and they can kick them.

I like your suggestions for making the co-op more cooperative. I am finding my co-op to be less than rewarding, so far no research, and we tried one project of which I got 2400 of 2800 corn before going to bed, but then we failed and noone has restarted it. But... I digress.

I was also thinking, in addition to your suggestions, we should be able to feed our co-op member's doggies for them. I hate visiting a co-op member's farm and seeing that dog holding his bowl so sad. :( I feed my real-life neighbor's dog when he's on vacation, I should be able to do the same here. If not for the sake of rewarding of my co-op friends wih sustained happiness, then for the dog's sake.

And, we should be able to collect from co-op members trees, there are times I could have collected from every member two or three times (even factoring in the three times watering needed) before they were online again to get their collection once.

The point is to make the Co-ops more cooperative. I think being able to help your fellow co-op members by sending them gifts or watering their fields or orchards to give them a little xtra boost would be an added incentive to participate. If you don't help your fellow members chances are you won't get helped either. Especially if you get a little news blip about who has stopped by your farm to help.
I LOVE the idea about being able to feed other members dogs! The extra info page on each member is a good idea also. Sometimes schedules don't jive and it's hard to tell just how much people really spend farming.
I love my co-op and I just think some of these ideas would make it that much better.

I'm not talking about the success of your farm depending on someone remembering to feed your dog. All I was suggesting is a small help that your fellow co-op members can give you by visiting your farm like a bag of feed or some water drops or a bag of fertilizer or some farm cash etc. The "help" a person can give would be limited to a certain amount per person per day. Like if I visit someones farm and they have 6 fields and 5 orchards I can only "help" them 5 times that day and then that's it until the next day. Also no one else can "help" on the ones I "helped" on until they get harvested and replanted. The suggestion was to encourage activity and camaraderie in a co-op. If some people don't like the idea that's fine but I hope GGS will at least look at the idea and consider something along these lines. The co-ops are a good thing but there is always room for improvement.

I support this idea, I think anything to make a coop more benneficial for members is useful :)

I agree with Monica on this one completely. On "the other gaming site", it is all about begging neighbors for gifts, spending most of your time searching feeds for needed items, and the rest of your time visiting neighbors to get the bonus. Not to mention having to have hundreds of neighbors to be successful at the game.

I enjoy this game and have continued to play it longer than most of those other games because I can play on my own with no neighbors/co-op if I choose. And if someone does choose a co-op, it doesn't consume their game play time.

So if someone wants a game where it is all about neighbors there are plenty out there, keep this game as is.

It would be nice if leadership could see a better break down of membership act ivies in the cooperative.
I have played a couple war games that had showed contributions to the alliance (cooperative). Some just total overall and some with daily & weekly totals as well.

I agree with this suggestion. Some kind of info for leaders/deputies would make it so much easier to run the co-op

+1 I agree with this idea. I've often wished I could hold a co-op contest to help encourage participation, with the winner of the contest winning a decoration (or gold or some such thing) provided by the leader or deputies. I know the members already gain benefits by helping the co-op, but being able to offer a monthly or weekly prize to help encourage that participation would do wonders!

    Lonestar Gal,
Are you thinking a Random Acts of Kindness idea?

Would be great if we could gift our members in some way. Or do something for them.

Someone mentioned a contest or blessing idea, that would be great rather than just donating to the co-op. All I can think of to do, to help newer co-op members until they get the hang of things is set the example of donating farm dollars and answer any questions they may have...maybe a separate pool/raffle for an extra decoration that we can donate...I have an extra decoration I'm sure.

Lots of directions this could go. 8)
