It is that time of year again LOL. BRRRrr mornings.
Yours is nice too
**Yours is in a good size to learn with --about pencil size is easy to manage the needles better.
If I mess up and make a big batch of cowfeed during the day and have not much to do on the farm, I pull a deskdrawer out and set the skein of yarn in it and knit right here at the computer.
I would love to see pics of projects
That sounds nice. I would love to see a picture of it once it's done. I'm not at that level yet, only on scarf making :P

And the slippers in the picture I have seen before and in Norwegian we call them pocketslippers (lommetøfler) because they are so easy to put in purse or pocket when you are going to wisit somebody.
I like needles that are about about the size of a pencil in length and diameter--if they are too big, they get heavy, even if you are using only 3o stitches to make a scarf. There is also circular needles that are connected by a piece of cord--super nice for making hats, socks and mittens.
Try to use yarn that is a bit coarse (not sure if I can say the specific brand name here) and it tends to not unravel, so all the strands of yarn make it into every stitch. This brand of yarn is not very expensive either and is perfect for beginner and advanced knitters.
There are lots of knitting helps and videos if you google it. I still need to look up how to cast on and take it off the needles sometimes.
I would love to learn to tat, my Grandma would fall asleep in her chair, but I swear her hands kept going
Since you are a knitter, I imagine that you would pick up on tatting in no time at all. To a person whom has never knitted or crocheted, tatting may appear to be too intricate to learn on their own, but that is not the case. As you mentioned with knitting, there are instructional books and videos available; regretfully I can not offer any suggestions on what to read or watch since I have never done so myself.
My Aunt Annie taught me single needle tatting, and just like your Grandma's hands, Aunt Annie's hands seemed to never be at rest! Aunt Annie was born in 1902 and if she were with us today she would be amazed at the fact that you can watch a video to learn...well, anything! Aunt Annie taught me how to perform domestic chores that many women these days consider quaint and often pick up as a leisure craft, but are in fact an every day part of life for my 'plain' neighbors.
If you please, I would enjoy seeing more of the pieces that you have created!
It is many way to knitt. Norwegian, US, english is some of it. I use something call russian knitting. It is the easy way to knitt I think. But some say Norwegian is the easy way, other say continentall, and som US knitting.
pic moved for now
And it is a football supporter, most of them are. We have ca 100 i think. And some gnomes. Or a lot of Gnomes...200 I think.

I am always asking who needs hats and mittens and scarves & such and never really get much of reply so I made one for myself. Maybe later I will post a picture of it. I will wear it tonight on the roller coasters. OMG This is last weekend ... big grins
** TherasaAnn--as a sidenote: as soon as I heard the needle size I chuckled hehe. I think size 17 is about broom handle, sooooo heavy. Once you learn the stitches, there is all kinds of things to make
