"Update 17.10. - Woof, woof!
Hello everyone!
We kept you waiting for a bit, but now it's time: A fluffy friend has arrived on your farm!"
HAS arrived. HAS. As in it happened already. Past tense.
Also... is the arrival date supposed to be this "Update 17.10"
Do you mean 10.17?
Look at ANY forum post here. The month goes first. Now there is no 17th month. So does this admin have the date backwards? AND not know the difference between "HAS ARRIVED" and WILL ARRIVE ON....?
Also, all the forum posts here are formatted day-month-year.
And yes, the date in announcement post subjects is the date the updates are planned to be released.
Snarky as that all is, making it sound like everybody else has it right and only America is screwed up,
take a look. It's different all around the world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country
In any case, an easy fix for both sides of the pond and everywhere else since this is a world wide game, is to spell out the date. Oct. 17th. OR the 17th of Oct. I don't care which.
Again, I figured it out since there is no 17th month.
But... you never replied to the past tense grammar?
HAS arrived. That means it happened already. So it HAS happened in the future? How is that possible?
Will there be a time machine added to this game soon?
Or am I bass-ackwards on that too?
--Geez. The dog is going to be here on the 17th of October.
How about we all just continue celebrating the fact that we get a dog on our farm tomorrow which is just super exciting in my opinion.
Kat.
there are 24 time zones and Katnip is in one of the earliest. for KatNip, it already IS the 16th so tomorrow is the 17th.
I get to say before you then duchess that my puppy is arriving tomorrow! Hopefully you'll feel that joy soon too!
Kat.
G night i had a long day.
Pigs? Right now these go right to waste.
We know you're all very eager to welcome your newest farm family member with the upcoming update. Sadly, we have to announce that this update has been moved to next week. After weeks of work and bugfixing, there's still a substantial amount of little and annoying bugs in our current version, and we decided that this awaited feature has to be delivered with as few flaws as possible. We are very sorry, but we're sure this is in your best interest, too.
So, the dog will arrive at your farm at the 22nd of October, together with the Big Farm Birthday update, meaning you will have a lot of stuff to play with
Of course we'll add proper patch notes for the update later on.
Greetings and a big "thank you" from the devs,
Timo
but still a lot of ppl are going to be disappointed bcz of this
So I'll go on looking forward, it's only a few more days.
Artmaker, you have my apologies. I had intended to cancel that when I realized I was too snappish to be posting anything at the time, but it seems I automatically clicked Post anyway.
Thanks, and no worries. I've done that myself a time or two.
I saw the note about the delay. "bugs." Lol. So what puppy doesn't have to be dewormed? Possibly de flea'd?
Get those bugs. We want healthy pups.
I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Hope so.
I've already complained about the past tense usage in the Achievements - look at the first one, No longer a novice, and it is phrased in the present tense 'Reach level xx'. That is what you need to do in order to get the achievement and, as far as I'm concerned, is correct.
Now look at the second, Combine harvester, which says 'Harvested xxx corn' which is written in the past tense, as though you have already completed the achievement although it is still in progress.
When I suggested a change so that all achievements were phrased in the present tense (i.e. telling you what you need to do in order to complete that achievement) I was told that I was looking at it the wrong way because that is what had been done in order to get that achievement, even though it was still in progress, and had not been completed.
So there does appear to be a constant discrepancy between the usage of past and present tense.
I'm on holiday from tomorrow till the 22nd so that suits me just fine.
AS I said in my original post, it's a minor niggle, but I still find it strange that they are telling you what you have to do in order to get the achievement by telling you what you have done to achieve it. Or, to put your last sentence into GGS speak 'and the objective of what they want you to know and did is clear'. It is just not proper English.
Was`t today
Have to see....I need 2 expansions first.
So there is going to be an event with Birthday theme? mine is the end of this month LOL.
