Alright, here you can add your tutorial :) Keep in mind that it's supposed to help new players with a specific problem of the game, don't be too broad and stick to one topic you can freely choose.

Most of all, have fun!

Can you give examples of those "specific problems", please? I never had any problem with the game, lol. Or should we start with existing or missing subjects of the game help? Can it be about general game strategies?

How the tutorials on the same subjects will be judged? When is the deadline?

It looks that it's better to publish tutorials as late as possible... then you can use the materials from the early published ones. But then again, you can change your tutorial later... Is it going to be somehow regulated?

Please ask questions regarding this in the big thread about the event :)

    a) Well I guess you can, but it would be way easier (and in the end probably more helpful) if you just stick to a particular question, and explain it thoroughly :)

    2) You have around one week, similar to the last round.

III) Just check the forums and see what problems arise. What are things many players are stuck with or need help with. What feature in the game do you think should be explained a bit better? Anything? That's your FAQ or Tutorial right there :) We will judge all entries by usefulness, how thoroughly the explanations are, how helpful it is, and if it's easy to understand. Bonus points for pictures or other methods that will improve the initial FAQ or Tutorial.
But in general: Don't overthink it :) If you manage to answer an often-questioned problem in a way that is helpful, you're good!

If you just take the content of an earlier post and build it into your own, you will of course not be credited for that. And yes, we can see if a post was edited, and if so, how it was edited exactly.

Now, for further questions, please go here :)

    • Add scientist to research projects
    • Use collections items

I have seen many players posting about the mining licences. How do I obtain them and especially the gold one? This post will explain all about it; the mine, the licences and the prime day.

First of all, what is the mine?
The mine is a building that has recently been added to the game. It will double your dollars and gold, provided you have enough resources to do so. It looks like this:

    Attachment not found.

    Attachment not found.

As you can see, this mine does not have the required mining licences to start production. There is enough money available though (both gold and dollars are sufficient). To start the mine, you need either:

    a) 1 mining licence and 2000 dollars
    or
    b) 1 gold mining licence and 2000 gold

The outputs of the mine will be either 4000 dollar or 4000 gold, which means you have doubled the input amount and you win 2000 dollars or gold.

But Larino, how do I get these licences then??
Well, the storage only allows you to store 2 regular mining licences, but as many gold licences as you want. This means that you cannot save up to more than 2 regular licences. How do you get them? I will tell you.

Regular mining licence (brown licence that will allow you to mine dollars)
The regular mining licence will drop randomly from your feed mill. This will not happen daily, so it may happen that you get 2 licences shortly after each other, but it may also happen you do not get some for a few days. Your mine may be idle because of this. You will see the regular mining licence appear when you harvest your mill and if you have 4000 dollars, you can immediately start the mine. Mining the dollars will take about 2 days if your mine is level 2. I got lucky this time that the mill on one of my 4 accounts just dropped a licence, so I can show you what it looks like:

    Attachment not found.

N.B. You do not get the precious stones the mine produces, but they will immediately be converted to dollars which are added to your account when you click the mine to harvest!

Gold mining licence (light blue licence that will allow you to mine gold)
The gold mining licence can be obtained in various ways.
    a) complete the mining task. When you have completed the task of upgrading your mine (the task will be a quest in your left hand quest bar), you will get 1 free gold mining licence. To use it, you need to have 2000 gold and after mining you will have 4000 gold (i.e. a profit of 2000 gold).

    b) buy a mystery box from Benny Buddler. Benny Buddler will occasionally visit your farm with his Special Offer truck. It is a red truck with sacks of super feed around it. You can buy the super feed with your gold, but also a mystery box. You now have the chance that a gold mining licence will pop up from this mystery box! However, there are many other prices that may pop out when you buy it, so choose wisely if you really want to invest your gold into those boxes against the small chance you get the licence.

    c) this is the easiest, but also most expensive way (depending on how much you invest in option b of course) of getting gold mining licences. Buy them at a prime day. Wait, prime day?! What is that? Well, it looks like this:

    Attachment not found.

    Attachment not found.

What I have caught on camera is one form of prime day that offers the mining licences. The reward area may also include other items, for example sunflower seeds, dollars and XP, premium/super feed, etc. Make sure you have the correct prime day in front of you before you decide to buy the gold to fill the tank! This prime day offers 25 licences, for 50,000 gold. There is also a prime day that offers 8 licences for 15,000 gold, but that one is special and does not occur that often. In the future we may come across more kinds of prime days.

How do I fill the tank?

Well that is easy. You buy gold.

But Larino, I already have 30,000 gold, how can I add those to the water tank and buy additional 20,000 gold to complete it?
You cannot. The prime day only allows you to buy the full amount of gold needed to fill the tank. Any gold you already own does not count, sorry. This is also why I said it is the most expensive way. If you do decide to do it, take into account that the gold you buy in the prime day can be doubled completely in the mine, provided you take the time (50 days) to do so and not spend all your gold before you managed to double it.

N.B. The mine will say it is mining gold nuggets, but again you will not get those nuggets as they are directly converted into gold, which is added to your account when you click the mine to harvest.

Hoping to have informed you enough about this relatively new game feature,

    Larino

    Achievements/Sticker Book

What are Achievements? Achievements are those things you can do to earn different rewards.

What is the Sticker Book? The Sticker Book is the thing that allows you to share what achievements you have completed with other players.

    Achievements Tab
You can get to the Achievements tab by clicking on the Trophy at the bottom of your screen. Once you click on it you will see what is your Sticker book. On the right hand side you can see what rewards are available and how many AP points you need to have in order to get those rewards. You can scroll both up and down by clicking the respective arrows.

    AP points/Level
Your AP points are those you earn by doing different achievements. You can see how many you have and what level you are by looking in the top left corner. The orange bar.

    Ranking
The button with the 1 on it, above the rewards, is your ranking. You can see what your rank is compared to others here.

    Compare Achievements
The button with the magnifying glass allows you to compare achievements. You can see what achievements your cooperative members have completed compared to you here. There is a drop down arrow next to the name of your cooperative member in the top right. This allows you to pick a different cooperative member. At the bottom of the page you can maneuver between pages by clicking the arrow.

    Editing Sticker Book
You can edit your sticker book by clicking on the red pen. You can then move your stickers, on the right hand side, into the blank spaces on the left. These will then show up in your sticker book, which is what other players can see.

    Achievements
If you click on the opening package with stamps, next to the trophy, you can see your achievements. By clicking on the pictures on the left, you can find out more information about each one on the right. Your progress will show up in the green bar under the picture. Your rank on each achievement shows in the left hand corner of each picture in a trophy. The amount of AP points you can get by completing that achievement shows under the progress bar, in the star. You can also see what your next reward will be on the right. There is an arrow at the bottom of the page to scroll through your achievements.

This shows all the projects that the co-op has unlocked. This is also where you can donate your collectibles. The ones with the green check mark are ones that have all the collectibles and are ready to start. The ones with no check mark are the ones that need collectibles. To donate your collectibles on the right is a box with a green arrow click that and it will show what collectibles are needed to complete the project. Once that is done it will have a little box that you can click to donate if you have enough collected or there is a shopping cart that if you click it it will use your gold to donate the collectible. So, you managed to join a cooperative. And now you want to donate some of those collection items you've been accumulating. You even have a task for that! But how to proceed? Don't worry, I'll show you what to do, step by step. :)

First, you'll need to access your cooperative screen. You can do that in two different ways:

    1. Click on Multiplayer features at the bottom of your screen and then click on Cooperative.

Attachment not found. Attachment not found.

    2. Click on Zoom in the chat panel.

    Attachment not found.

Once you are in the cooperative screen, you need to click on the Projects tab and, there, select a project. On the right side you'll find the details of the selected project. There, you can click on Collection details to find all the info about the collection items needed for the project.

    Attachment not found.

Note: If you see a green check mark on the project, it means the project already has all the collection items it needs and can be started. So, just select one that still need collection items to be donated and click on Collection details for that project.

Clicking the Collection details button opens a screen where you can find information about the collection items required for the project, similar to the figure below.

    Attachment not found.

Collection items that have a green check mark have already been donated and if you hover your mouse over the image you’ll see the name of the cooperative member that contributed the item. The other items are still open to donation. If you have the required amount of an item, you’ll see a green button bellow it, which you can click to make your donation. Even if you don’t have the required amount, you can always buy them with gold, clicking the blue button.

After donating a collection item a button will appear bellow the item that will allow you to take the donated amount back (but see the note below).

    25t7wph.png

Note: You can’t take back collectibles that you bought with gold.

    Running Costs

Running costs is the money (dollars) you spent on starting an unit in your farm, such as planting a field, running orchard, feeding stables and starting windmill.

Different unit has different running costs, some are higher, some are lower. For example, cherry orchard has a higher running costs than apple orchard, planting wheat will cost more than planting corn.

Running costs will affect how much money you earn from your farms, if an apple orchard has running cost as $3000, harvest a Level1 apple orchard gives you 325 apples, which is $14300 selling value, you earn $14300-$3000=$11300; but if your running cost is $1000, you will earn $13300 instead.

The running cost on an unit will not increase if you upgrade the unit, that means: a Level5 apple orchard has the same running cost as a Level1 apple orchard.

You can check running costs before starting an unit, see the screen shots below:
    Attachment not found.

To reduce running costs, you need to increase Happiness of your farm.

    Happiness

Happiness is defined as how happy your workers are, higher the happiness, lower the running costs.
You can check the happiness on the top of your farm, green bar means happy, orange bar means unhappy. Move mouse over the bar, it will show you the detail.
In the screen shot below, the happiness total is 1055-970=85, and the running costs is -54%, meaning running costs is reduced by 54%, you only pay 46& of the original costs.
    Attachment not found.

    How happiness is calculated
Happiness amount is attached to some buildings in your farm: some buildings increase happiness, some buildings decrease happiness.
    Buildings that will increase happiness:
    - decorations
    - fence (will increase more happiness after upgrade)
    - gate (will increase more happiness after upgrade)
    Buildings that will decrease happiness:
    - Simple Houses (will decrease more happiness after upgrade)
    - Fancy Houses (will decrease more happiness after upgrade)
    - Cabin

To check a building's happiness, you can move your mouse over the building, or bring up the building's Info dialog. Positive number increases happiness (good); negative number decreases happiness (bad). The screen shots below shows how can you check happiness.

    Attachment not found.

    Attachment not found.

    Attachment not found.

When happiness is very low, you could pay double (+200%) or triple (+300%) running costs.
When happiness is very high, you could save by paying no running costs (-100%). (Note: when planting fields, you still pay the fee for seeds).

General practice: Always check happiness before you buy new houses or upgrade them, make sure the running cost is at a reasonable level. If happiness will be low, please considering adding decoration(s).

How to be successful at missions.

I've found the best way to be successful at missions is careful choice of the type of mission, including timing, and proper application of helper items, like humus on fields. Collection of wildflowers is a nice short mission, and if you have plenty of special nursery seeds and humus, it can be easy to be among the top 5, so I recommend that mission type.

Adding in extra temporary fields to succeed at planting collection missions is a surefire way to get ahead of the competition. I have seen competitors who had 8 fields, or even more, for plant collection missions.

Planting your special nursery seeds, timed to need collection before or shortly after the mission starts, and adding humus to those fields planted with nursery seeds can give you a real head start, and then attending constantly to your planting and harvesting during the duration of the mission can keep you ahead of the game.

Some people may use gold to speed up harvesting, but I think it's less likely to find heavy use of gold in this manner for collecting wildflowers, another reason to choose that mission.

Timing can be key. Try to choose missions that might have less competitors, they spread missions around on the clock, and if you find one that's going to start in the middle of the night or really early in the morning, you might be lucky and have fewer opponents (though you have to be sure you will be around then). Signing up for a mission in the last 30 seconds can also result in fewer competitors, sometimes.

Sometimes you can be surprised by the competitiveness that comes out when players are playing a contest-style mission, and if you happen to get a bunch of opponents who aren't afraid to spends lots of gold to win a mission, and you don't have or don't care to spend that much gold, even the best tips can fail you. You may also find that your farming style is set up so you would do better on other types of missions, so use your own judgement about that. Bottom line, I think these tips will help someone who decides to do the short wildflower collection missions, but I can't guarantee first place, as there are other variables that cannot be controlled.

Some find missions stressful. I hope some of my strategies can help with some of that stress, and make missions more fun. Good luck!

How do I get a crowbar to open the crate ?

The crates which are sealed tightly needs crowbar to open. Crowbar can be purchased by gold.
Click the jammed crate and then click "Buy" to purchase a crowbar.

My Barn can store maximum 550 Pig feed. At the moment I have 550/550 Pig feed in my barn. Then, How do i get the crate content ?

Don't worry, You will get all the crate content even if your barn storage is full.

What happens when you have enough gold (2500) for the 'first' crate but that crate has gone?
Is there a way to bring it back?

Once the crates are gone , then there is no way to bring them back.

The co-operative research allows members of the co-operative to gain advantages in each of their farms, and within the co-op itself. Certain researches must be completed before others, and each research requires a specific co-operative level.

The point of research is to either (a) gain money by selling certain resources or (b) to give you advantages within the co-operative.

      How Research Works

Each research has two parts that must be fulfilled before research can start: researcher numbers and starting costs. Depending on the research, different numbers of researchers and different research costs are required.

Every co-operative member can donate a certain amount of money (based on their level) to contribute a researcher to the research (only one per member). Members can also buy an unlimited amount of researchers for gold.

Once the required number of researchers have signed up, the research can start. This automatically deducts the research costs (normally dollars, but occasionally gold) and starts the research. Each research takes a certain amount of time to be completed (this can be skipped for gold), and only one research can be in progress at once.

Research must be completed in a certain order.

Research requires a specific co-operative level.

      Categories of Research

      Co-operative Project

This helps you with co-operative projects. Optimize processes (levels 1-6) reduces the number of collection items needed, while negotiation skill (levels 1-5) increases the time you have to finish a project.

      Co-operative

These researches improve your co-operative in other aspects. Subsidies give you a bonus amount of money for every dollar donated to the co-operative (e.g. person donates 1000 dollars, +10% bonus, co-op receives 1100 dollars), but the main research is recruitments (there are 30 levels of this). Recruitments increase the number of players that can be in your co-op, so it is one of the most important researches. Both of these types of research cost gold.

      Main farm

These increase the number of dollars you can earn by selling:
      • Pigs (max. +80%)
      • Eggs (max. +67%)
      • Milk (max. +40%)
      • Apples (max. +27%)
      • Cherries (max. +25%)

Apples with bonus from research: http://imageshack.us/a/img15/9512/ctuz.png

      Gourmet farm

These increase the amount of dollars you earn when selling things in the restaurant. There are 3 levels for every item that can be produced in the restaurant, and each level gives +5% for a potential maximum of +15% money earned for selling anything in the restaurant.

      Flower farm

Similar to the gourmet farm, these researches allow you to increase the amount of money earned for selling anything in the shop by up to 15%.

      Example research

Researching level 1 of crunchy cabbage soup (on the gourmet farm) requires 19 researches (bought with dollars or 300 gold). Then, $3,380,000 is needed to start the research, which will last 86 hours. After this research is completed, you will receive a 5% bonus whenever you sell cabbage soup - for example, if you sold cabbage soup using restaurant level 7, you would receive $42,000 rather than the base $40,000.

      Co-operative Tutorial

Being in a co-op is great fun and makes the game a lot more interesting but there are some hints and tips to make getting into the right co-op easier.

      Step 1 - Don't be too hasty
The co-op quest comes up early in the game but you don't have to find a co-op straight away. At level 8 you haven't been playing the game for very long and won't have much to offer a co-op. You may decide that you don't like the game, or you don't have time to play it so lots of co-ops won't accept very low level players. Be patient, you will find one that will. Your best bet at this level is to find a training co-op. Joining a training co-op will allow you to complete the early quests where you have to join a co-op and add some collectibles to start a co-op task. You can't stay in a training co-op but it is a great way to learn about how the co-ops work. If you can't find a training co-op with space, or don't want to join a training co-op, find a low level co-op or one that doesn't have many members or says it will accept low level players.

Telling the co-op leader how you play and showing you are interested in the co-op will help you get accepted into the high level co-ops. As a general rule, players that are less than level 25 and who just say 'I want to be in your co-op' or 'Hi', won't be accepted. Send a personal message to the co-op leader or deputies telling them why you want to be part of that co-op and a bit about how you play. If you are a daily player, willing to contribute dollars (or gold!), willing to take part in research, or have been in another co-op before so you know how they work, say so, it will help you get accepted into the higher level co-ops.

      Step 2 - Play nicely
Whatever co-op you join, remember the point of co-ops is co-operation. That means taking part and being friendly. You don't have to be chatty if you don't want to, but reply to your co-op leader if s/he messages you. If you are going to be off-line for a day or two, or longer, then send a message to everyone (or to the co-op leader) telling them. If you don't they may think you have just got bored and stopped playing and may remove you from the co-op. If you decide to leave to co-op don't leave rude messages and remember, children play this game so no bad language! It's a game, play nicely (-:

Step 3 - Do your bit
Apart from making new friends being in a co-op means that you get more money for produce that you sell. The more research that the co-op undertakes the better the prices you will receive. To trigger research co-op members need to participate in research (which costs dollars or gold) and need to save enough dollars (or gold depending on the research being done). Making regular contributions to the co-op shows the other co-op members that you are willing to help out and doing your bit! If you are a lower level player, then little and often is easier!

      Step 4 - Take part
When your co-op is doing a particular task take part. So if they are doing a task that means everyone needs to grow cabbage, help out by growing cabbage. You may prefer to grow corn, but the co-op tasks don't last long and helping out shows that you are committed to the co-op.

Step 5 - Stay safe and have fun!
Being part of a co-op is a great way to make new friends from all over the world, but remember internet safety. You don't know who you are speaking too and whilst most people are kind and will look out for you, there may be some who won't, so take care, don't share personal information and never arrange to meet up with someone you don't know. Stay safe! Look out for other players, report abusive messages, challenge players who are rude and help make this a safe and fun place for everyone!

      Running a profitable farm

In the early stages it can be difficult to run a profitable farm, here are some hints and tips for less experienced players

      1) Balance
You may look at the top ranking players and see they have few fields and lots of hen coops, but at the lower levels balance is everything.

      3 fields, 2 hen coops, 1 pig sty;
      3 fields, 2 hen coops, 1 pig sty, 1 cow shed;
      4 fields, 3 hen coops, 2 pig stys, 2 cow barns;
      6 fields, 6 hen coops, 3 pig stys, 4 cow barns;

Balance really matters because the amount of dung you have dictates how many apples/cherries you can produce. The events (like Camping and the Fairytale event) give you great rewards but you will only be able to complete them if you have a well balanced farm.

      Fruit is good for you
Orchards are great for maximizing profit. Have two apple orchards before you grow your cherry orchard. They take less fertiliser and less time than cherries. You may get more money for cherries but especially at the start of the game they use up so much fertiliser it is much better to have apples than cherries.

      Don't Worry, Be Happy!
The happiness of your workers massively affects your profitability. A well decorated farm makes your workers happy so invest in the best decorations that you can afford. The very best decorations (apart from the ones you get from donating to the orphans) are the ones you get from the events, so it is really worth trying to finish the events. A tidy farm is a happy farm, look at how you have organised your farm, try and make sure you don't have many blank spaces and your space is used efficiently to fit as many decorations in as you can. Make sure your fences and gates are upgraded fully, they add happiness without taking up space.

      Spend your money wisely
Upgrading things like the mill, silo and composter may take a long time and take that production facility out of action for a while, but it's worth it! Higher level fields yield much more wheat so it is worth investing the time and dollars in upgrading.

      Special buildings
All the special buildings are useful but if you don't buy much gold then building the water tower is a great investment and well worth having. The nursery doesn't cost gold and the special seeds give excellent returns and are really useful.

      How does your Garden Grow?
How you play affects your farm. If you are a regular player but can't spend hours online playing at a time, then cows are good because they produce a lot over a long time, if you are on for long periods of time then hens are great because they produce a lot quickly. Build your farm according to how you play.

      Bigger is Better
Investing in the other farms is expensive but worth the investment, even the bags that float about the workers heads give better rewards on the Gourmet Farm and the best rewards on the Flower Farm. Investing in these farms takes time but will ultimately significantly increase your profits.

      Many Hands Make Light Work
Join a co-op, the higher level the co-op the more likely they will be to have done research which will get you more dollars when you sell produce. It's also a great way to make friends and you get dollars for watering the co-op trees too so it's a winner all round.

I hope this helps you build a happy and profitable farm, enjoy playing (-:

Before you start the chicken or the egg project make sure you have members available for missions. You have to collect eggs & earn reputation points. You & your co-op members can do missions to earn RP. You should discuss who will do what missions & when. If you end up in the same mission with your co-op members you can discuss strategy and possibly earn more RP towards the project.

      WATER TOWER

One of the special buildings available beginning at level 15 on Big Farm is the water tower. This structure occupies a 4x4 space and can be built on any of your three farms. Although it can only be purchased with gold, in my opinion it is well worth the initial $1,300.00 cost. I guess you could say it is worth its weight in gold. Even those who do not purchase gold can save enough to purchase a level one tower. The tower is upgradeable to level five but that would require a significant gold investment. The water tower reduces the amount of feed necessary for your stables and the amount of fertilizer needed to start production in your orchards. A level one tower reduces the amount needed by 10%. The percentage increases by 10% for each level upgrade. If you are able to upgrade the water tower to the maximum level five you will attain a 50% reduction which creates a substantial savings. On the main farm, the items affected are the chicken coops, the pig sties, the cow sheds, the apple orchards and the cherry orchards. The goat stables and the almond orchards are affected on the gourmet farm. The water tower reduces the production supplies necessary for the olive groves, the citrus orchards and the apiaries on the flower farm. Do not be confused by expecting the water tower to supply water for use in the nursery however as it is not for that purpose. Purchasing a water tower for each farm is an option and though it is most beneficial on the main farm it is nevertheless a valuable asset on any farm.

HOW TO GET THE BEST START IN THE GAME

First of all, I hope you will have a great game expreience here on Big Farm. Once you have started a new farm you must think forward. You get missons all the time and be sure that you have a pice of land left to each new level because often a misson are that you should build new decorations or buildings. And safe money to buy more land so that you can get more place to build on.

Safe money is importent, beacuse a higher level costs more to build and upgrade the building

At the bottom of your farming screen is a toolbar. At the top, left hand side of this toolbar, is an arrow pointing up. If you click on this arrow. You will see the chatbox. To the right of this arrow, is a button to enlarge your chatbox. Where you will see five tabs at the top of the enlarged chatbox. The first is titled overview . These are the tabs, you will use for the most part, in a co-op. We are gonna go through each of these. The 1st tab, titled Overview, if you click on it you will see various info about the co-op. This is also where a co-ops dollar/gold funds can be added to, & balances checked. These funds go to cover startup cost on various researches. If you click on the dollar contribution button, you'll notice that 500$ automatically appears in the contribution box. If you click on that 500$ you can change it manually, or do it one dollar at a time with the arrows
or the far right arrow will contribute all your dollars. Same applies with the gold.
On the right handside of this section, is a section titled news. This may be updated with what is going on in the co-op, or any various news your co-op founder/leader may want to convey.
Now the 2nd tab, titled members. This section you can see various info, on each of the members
By clicking on either of them, you will receive a couple more options, such as visit farm, or message.
The 3rd tab is the tab for the chatbox, where you can also see who is online. Keep in mind, online doesnt always mean present.
Now the 4th tab, cooperative projects. After you click on this tab at the bottom you will see page numbers, please ensure that you are on page 1, where you'll see the first 4 projects. Please click on the first one, afterwhich, you'll see some info about it, appear on the right.
Where you'll see the tannish colored button in the info on the right, with the green arrow on it, titled, Collection Details. If you click on this button, you'll see the three different collection items needed, to start this project. Any player can submit, these items, or they can buy them with gold. The submitting player, must have the entire amount needed, of any one item or they can't submit.
Once all these items have been submitted, this project can be started. Only one project can happen at a time, but you can get as many ready, as your members have the collection items for.
Once a project is started, you have a certain amount of time, to acquire a certain objective. If your team doesnt get the needed amount, within the allowed amount of time, not only do you lose the time, that each player, put in to acheiving this objective, but you lose the collection items, that it takes to start the project.
These projects have skill levels. You'll see a golden Challis, in the upper left hand corner, of each of the projects squares. If you hover your mouse cursor over any of these cups, you will see numbers like... 1/3 2/4 As well, you will see the number on the cup itself. The number on the cup itself, represents the level, the fraction that appears when hovering over the challis
is how many times your team has done the project, at that skill level, and how many times we have to do it, before the next skill level. There are 4 skill levels for each project. As the skill levels increase, you have to get more of the required objective, but you have to do it in the same amount of time.
Now for the last tab, researches. In the enlarged chatbox above towards the top, their is a drop down selection bar that says, Chat and Activity. When you click on the 5th tab, their will be another drop down selection bar, in the same area as this one. This will allow you to see the current unlocked researches, that affect each farm. If you hover your cursor over either of these research squares, you will see their title appear. If you click on one of these research squares, you will see more detailed info appear on the right. Each research requires a certain number of researchers to be bought, before the research can be started. For each research, you can buy one researcher with dollars, and buy as many as you want, with gold. The dollar amount to buy a researcher is different for everyone, since this charge is derived of your level. The higher level you are, the more dollars your able to make, so the more they charge you. Researches work like this... Your team has to buy so many researchers, after they are all filled the co-op then has to pay the large amount you see at the bottom of the info on the right, beside the start button.. Once this is done, you start a clock, once the clock has elapsed, the award is yours indefinitly. As long as you are in that co-op. Unlike projects, researches cant be lost, once started.
The above info, will likely get you started off on the right foot, if utilized. Co-ops make BigFarm, a whole different game. Enjoy Farmers...

      BASIC BBCODE TUTORIAL

      Bbcode
is the code that the GGS forum uses for making posts. When you start a topic, you will be able to see some buttons that look like this on your screen, above your text box:

      9f46ef8e-7b1c-4633-9a33-a67f18ca156f.jpg

If you mouse over them, you can see what the buttons do:

      tute2.png
(This one, for example will insert a link your text.)

The leftmost three are formatting for bold, italics and underline. They will probably be the ones that you will use most often if you are using bbcode. Have a look at the bold one (the leftmost one with a B).

If you click on it, notice that in the message box these little square brackets come up:

      Tute3.png

This is bbcode! What it means is that any text you put between the [*b] and the [*/b] will be put in bold (I am putting the asterisks in because otherwise it will bolden my text, but obviously there isn’t one in the picture):

      tute4.png

Then, when you post your message, whatever you have typed in between the coding will be bolded:

      Tute5.png

      Easy!! :D

So there are a lot of different things you can do in bbcode from all those buttons.

If you are replying to a topic, you won’t see all the buttons but you can still use bbcode!

All you have to do is type out the code (i.e. the square brackets etc.) The codes are as follows (I have put a space in the first bracket but this should NOT be in the code; it’s just so you can see what it will look like as the actual code):

[ i][/i] will give you Italics
[ u][/u] will give you underline

Those are probably the main ones.

But then you can do fancy things:

[ font=Times New Roman][/font] will give you Times New Roman text (and obviously you can change the type of font you want to use. Bbcode does not recognize all types of fonts though.

[ color=red][/color] will give you red text (and obviously you can type in different colors and it will change). If you are more advanced you can also type in the Hex Code for a color if you know it.

I also put a webpage link in the previous sentence. You can do that in two different ways:
You can either just put the URL/website of the page you want to link: [ url]http://somesite/[/url]
Or you can put the site name or description by adding an equals sign and moving the webpage INSIDE the square bracket: [ url=http://somesite/]Site Name[/url]

If, after you post, your text looks weird or something isn't right, it might be because you didn't code properly. This is easy to fix! See where the text looks funny and then when you modify it, just go to that part of the text. Nine times out of ten it's because you forgot to close a square bracket or the forwardslash thingy (the / thing) is in the wrong place. ;)

Here is a quick summary of possible bbcodes in a list, for further reference :D

      BONUS TUTORIAL: ADDING IMAGES
(Primarily because putting all the info in one post was waaaay too long!)

There are two ways to post pictures on GGS forums.

      1. As an attachment: This is useful if you have an image on your computer you want to share.

When you modify a post or post the first post in a topic, you’ll get the buttons as described above. Notice that there is an option for attachments:

      Tute6.png

All you do here is hit the button and then a dialog box will come up, with all the attachments (if any) you have uploaded to the GGS forum:

      Tute7.png
(In this case, I have not uploaded any.)

To start uploading pictures, hit the “Add Files” button:
      Tute8.png

This will give you the option to browse files on your computer to attach. Click “select files”:

      tute9.png

This will open your computer’s folders so you can start finding the relevant pictures to attach. Let’s say I want to upload this awesome picture of a pegacorn (I told you I have no artistic skills):

      tute10.png

I select it, and then the filename comes up in the attachment thing (this is pretty much the same as attaching files on an email).

Once your pictures have been selected, see that they are listed. Make sure the filename is correct for the picture (in case you accidentally misclicked when selecting your picture). Once that is done, you are ready to attach them to your file. Press the “upload files” button:

      tute11.png

Your file is now uploaded. You can see that it’s uploaded because it is in the “home” section (which stores all your uploaded files. If you want to use it for your own specific post, make sure it is also listed under “attachments” (in the bottom left of the box).

      tute12.png

NOTE: Because GGS is hosting the picture for you, there are limits to how many pictures you can attach to a post.

If you have text to type, just type it in the message box per normal. When you are done, post your message. It’ll upload the picture, and you’re done. It will come up as a thumbnail with a bit of information about the image size at the bottom:

      Tute13.png

You can click on the image to enlarge it. If you want to go back to the topic, just hit back.

      2. As an image hosted online: If there is a picture online on the internet that you want to share, you have to get the image information from the website.

Let’s say I have this picture of a chicken I found on the internet that I want to share.

      chicken1.jpg

I right click on it and go to “View Image”:

      chicken2.jpg

Then once the image is isolated, the url for the image is in the navigation bar:

      chicken3.jpg

Copy that whole thing, and then in the text box for your message, type:

[ img ]THE URL OF YOUR IMAGE[/ img]

And it should come up! (Obviously, don’t literally type that, but whatever the URL is. It will be quite long and sometimes you will have to scroll a bit to get the whole thing)

      tute15.png

For your own pictures, for this to work you need to have an account on an image-hosting site, like Photobucket or even some Facebook images work (but make sure the security settings mean that they can be seen). But the same technique works.

WARNING! If you do this and later delete the picture from photobucket or facebook then the image will no longer work!

      :):) HAPPY FORUM POSTING!! :):)

P.S. Here's the Pegacorn picture in its full glory!
