If you mean gold, buying it is by far the most efficient way to get more.

I would ignore quests for a cherry orchard as long as possible, maybe at least level 40. This I have learnt from experience. Instead plant more apple orchards. Much more money and far less fertilizer required. You will keep running out of fertilizer at lower levels if you keep feeding a cherry orchard which uses 3 times as much fertilizer and gives less return.

I don't totally agree. Once you get the gourmet farm the cherries are nice to use for over night. I don't however always keep my cherry orchard running, only when I have extra fertilizer.

Having or not having a cherry orchard is indeed very discussable. If you make it as soon as the quest comes up, it is véry hard to keep it fertilized. But as Elizabeth said, as soon as you get the gourmet farm, it is nice to have some cherries, to make the juice overnight.

Apple orchards are definitely the most profitable thing to have at first, because they take less fertilizer (so you need less poop) but when you get the gourmet farm, you're gonna want a cherry orchard.
I think I was around lvl 25 or so when the cherry orchard came out, and I have had little problems to keep it running up till recently.

Apple orchards make you more money in 12 hours then cherries, but a day has 24 hours and a part of that you will be asleep (I assume :P) The cherry orchard, if planted at the right time, will run all night, where the apples will be sitting still, ready for harvest after 3 hours, while you enjoy your beauty sleep.

tip to make money easily: to get free growing on feilds, production in mills,cowsheds... etc. ( anything with a running cost) it requires specifically this: your happiness = your level x 20.
after acheiving this goal, the only expenses for you will only be construction.

note: i discovered this at level 18.

Thank you for telling us this! This is what I was wondering. How the happiness works since it obviously isn't straightforward. :)

My suggestion is to avoid decorating with anything except flower beds - and CERTAINLY, NOTHING over 10,000. I bought the well, fountain, and log bridge because they were so cute; then I carefully organized everything. However, when I began to need to make more money, I was in a real predicament for a while because, when I stored my deco's, my costs - of course - radically increased. Now everything is just in there the best that I could get it in. I'm going to demolish one or two fields, add in two or three flower beds to increase happiness for a fraction of the cost of the other decorations. According to Fibro_fog2's formula, my costs will significantly decrease. Maybe I will actually be able to buy more land and spread out. AT ANY RATE, I (IN HINDSIGHT) SUGGEST STICKING WITH THE MONOTONOUS FLOWER BEDS IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY WHILE HAVING THE HAPPIEST WORKERS AROUND. Am I right? What say those of you at level 30 and up?

I think flower beds are very poor value in terms of squares per happiness. They are good for dollars per happiness but I value my space more and would rather have high happiness per square

I made a spreadsheet, for my own use. It's missing the Asian event items because I wasn't here for it

You can see the Flowerbed gives just 0.75 Happiness per square. Compare that to the Fountain and Log Bridge both at 1.13 Happiness per square

I am always short of space so I would always go for the best Happiness per square dec that I can afford. So I would never build a Flowerbed again

This is a really, good point. You are right about needing to get as much happiness as possible in each square. I replied only because this thread is headed "Tips to Earn More Money."

In that vein, consider these findings: I demolished one of my four fields and added in five flower beds for a total expenditure of $9,500. But my cherry production costs have gone from $5,587 to $3,478 - this doesn't include fertilizer production because I forgot to check it before I added the extra beds. The same goes for apple production which has gone from $1,954 to $1,216. And the whole process of raising wheat, producing cow feed, and "milking" the cows now saves me more than $600. I've already earned back $3,481, and I haven't sold anything. Plus, I didn't factor any savings for the pigs and chickens.

I'm not getting as much happiness per square as you are, but it sure feels like I am.

Rhon. I have an updated spreadsheet. Its here.

This spreadsheet has the calculations for all the event decos with the final deco.

And yes, the maximum happiness per square deco is best.

At lower level you might find it difficult to buy the priced decos but the is a cap for the availabe space.

Higher the level the cost of plot is also too high, so you wont be able to purchase land for quite some time. Also there is a max of only 25 plots available.

So to add good number of production facilities go for higher happiness per square decos. And also dont leave empty spaces.

    Hover over the Happiness bar

My main Farm for instance, in the green shows
    Houses -1369
    Decorations +1530
    Total 161
    Running Costs -76%

So I pay 76% LESS in running costs

    RED = danger
    GREEN = good

Wrong, follow Rhon's explanation and find that the - sign is not for the happiness of the workers, but for your running costs. And you want costs to be as LOW as possible! Therefore +189% running costs is very very bad. That means that you pay nearly three times as much as you could be paying if your running costs were at 0%. -100% means that you pay half of what you would be paying at 0%. Got it?

    Wrong Larino,

-100% means means no need to pay for anything, except seeds cost while sowing in fields, garden and meadow. Others are absolutely free..

But do remember -99.09% is also shown as -100%. Its rounded to the next highest number in case of green. While it +99.9% is rounded to +99%.

Also the max values, you can get is +300% in red and -100% while in green.

Well you always do have these fixed costs you mention, so it will never cost nothing (except for flowers and roses) and that is why I said half. May be less than half, but you pay something. And I never pay attention to what I actually pay as long as this metre is in the green as far as possible.

Fixed cost are those only for seeds... Rest all have zero fixed cost...

I run my main farm like that... I am in the process of bring it to zero running cost in my food farm...There also i had previously but after i built the almond orchard, i have not made the mark. Hope fully soon i can make it...

Build a lot of decorations. If you can bear it demolish some production facilities so you can remove houses and have less workers

The more workers you have the more decs you need. Decorations are not just decorative they are vital to increase happiness, reduce your costs and give you a reasonable income
