Cooperative's In Game Forums

JoeJoe2416JoeJoe2416 Posts: 51
Hi,

I have recently been getting quite frustrated and the cooperative chat window. It's all very good for just general talk, but if you want to have several conversations at once, it would become confusing, as i'm sure this has happened to all of you before. I used to play Innogame's Grepolis, where, in your alliance, you din't have a chat but instead you had in game forums. This made it much easier for focusing and discussing certain topics, having poles and playing games with fellow members. I propose that Co-ops feature an in game, private forum.

Let me know what you guys think,

Cheers, 8)

Joe

    Hi Joe,

why don't you use a free board system and make one?

    Hi,

    What do you mean exactly?

I'm not sure if we're allowed to advertise here, but you can create your own forum using invisionfree for example.
I think that's what she means.
Although most of these free forums are quite advanced and require some knowledge about HTML-codes, but there's some forums where you don't need all that, and can just choose skins and everything.
But that would be something outside the game.
I do agree, that something like a mini-forum where you can have polls and that sort of stuff, in-game, would be awesome.
I created quite a few forums for friends and myself, I know how much work it is, how much time it'll cost.
So I'd say this is a great idea.

Thanks As, I meant that indeed. I think we have a proboards one. And luckily I didnt have to set it up :P

For polls I usually just send out a groupmail, and let people answer :) If it gets very complicated I make a little list on paper to check which option won.

true, but if you have a smaller coop, it would be a bit useless to create an entire forum for just 9 people.
if you got a coop with 65 members, I wouldn't even have to think twice and just set it up myself.

The Cooperative Meeting Place is the closest thing we can get to this right now.

I agree it would be better if we could have a private area. Some players looking to join a co-op will post in the co-op threads. Having to put "For
    Members Only" is annoying.

I have used the poll feature in the Cooperative Meeting Place, but some members won't use the forum feature. Even with directions.

I don't know if this idea will be considered or not, but as BabyRooBoo has mentioned, the Cooperative Meeting Place forum is set up so cooperatives can communicate with each other there.

I realise it's limited in that others from outside the cooperative can and do post in the threads, but please let myself or one of the other Moderators know if someone is posting in your thread and we'll remove the posts. We do try to keep on top of that issue in the forum, however sometimes it's hard to tell who's part of the coop and who isn't.

what about just an ingame poll so members can vote on the next research for example?

Astragek: If you are curious to see how it all works out, I have a thread for my co-op in the Cooperative Meeting Place, Zen Co-op. We have a poll at the top of our thread and others have used the poll for their members to choose the next research. We did ours to decide how our co-op wanted to donate to the co-op account.

I do send out a group message whenever I add to the thread. Only one other member posts there, but I am confident that they all read it.

Kat Nip: I have noticed that you all keep up on the membership requests. Thank you! It really helps to keep it about the co-op.

I know how it works, thanks ;)
but I also know that half of the people don't use these forums

We have a coop of 20 now and we're very happy with the board we built. We have a deputy only section where we can easily talk about the possible new members. If I have had a mail conversation with one, I can post it there and the rest can read it too.

If we need to discuss something between management members we send private messages in-game. But that is relatively easy because there is just the three of us. If we need to explain something to our members as to how stuff works in the co-op we like to refer to our site, as there is more room for explanation. The messages in-game have quite an annoying character limit and sometimes the chat scrolls up too fast for all members to catch up with it.

Messages have a very annoying character limit indeed! Specially if you are like me and use a lot of words for things :)

With only 3 people in management it is easy indeed, but we have a lot more deputies, and then the board comes in very handy, specially with my aforementioned thing about possible new members. I can mail back and forth with them a few times, and just put said mails on the board for every deputy to read.

We indeed do explanations and tips and tricks via our board too, and sometimes I send a groupmail (or 3 or 4...;)) Your site is very nice too, I looked around a bit there :)

I indeed am like you and type loads :P

I already thought about co-ops with more deputies, so I could imagine sending private messages is time consuming in that case. I haven't used the board because I did not need it (yet), so I can not give an opinion on that. For the possible members, one of my deputies is my real life friend, so it is easy for us to speak through other ways and I assigned him to do the HR and send a message to these players. We did manage to set up a standard message that fit within the character limit :D Our other deputy does not deal with recruiting so we only send him a message when we really need an opinion. Usually he is fine with whomever we recruit though :)

Thanks for the compliment ^^ Feel free to refer to if if you need to explain anything to your members and a message is too short (and if you agree with our explanation of course :P) ^^
