  Nothing that is not a permanent benefit.
  WaterTowers lvl1 mf & gf, Dog lvl7, waterTower lvl2 mf & gf were my 1st purchases then
  LibraryBooks, WaterTowers to lvl5, FertileFields to lvl5 and more LibraryBooks

  Pretty much what Uncle John said. Permanent stuff.

  
  

  Blue Barns, Water Towers, Library Books, Fertile Fields (for the space savings, but I've left most of them at Level 1), a few special Decos, a few special skins, and the like.  Mostly stuff that's "Tangible".

  Agree with @Uncle John (GB1) & @Southern (US1) just on things that will or should stay with the game. Water towers, work shops, books.

  I have a tendency to speed things up with gold, and always afterwards, regret for spending gold on such trival stuffs. Will love to have more self-control and save up gold for more perm stuffs!

  This is my thing. Usually if I'm building, because there's only one slot, and some take waaaaaay too long to finish. So, *boof*, instant finish and move on to the next thing.
  
  Also handy for missions if I don't have enough seaweed products

  Water towers, fertile fields, special decorations (I love those), 2 or 3 at a time to hurry a crop up if I really want it.
