Candy Farm strategy?

Rusty Farmer (AU1)Rusty Farmer (AU1) AU1 Posts: 1,705
I am wondering what player's best Candy Farm strategy is, assuming you have plenty of farm cash to max out.

How many of each orchard etc is best? This is my layout to date, where just about everything is at maximum level; it is too close to the end of the event to expand further at this point IMO.

I would go with 2 of each orchard and 5 alpacas....and for them you'll need more fields.  I have toyed with just having lots of fields, just cherry orchards and alpacas and just making fruity delights and the puddings - that way you don't need the crusher.  I don't think there is one strategy, unlike the other 2 temp farms.  Someone did figure out early on that you get slightly more vouchers by just selling the product and not building the Palace.  But, if you enjoy building it - go for it

There is no Farm strategy, it's down to how much gold you want to spend rushing through it.

I've always tried to aim as far into CrazyBigfarm's website plan for a "full build" as possible. I haven't made it to the end yet, but it's fun to try! c: I usually end up able to produce everything I want, I've been going for 4-5 fields, and two of each orchard as shazamd already pointed out. Usually I run out of time though

The great thing I discovered this time was being able to get 30 farmer workers which eliminates the need for too many houses. Come visit me on Candy Farm to see what I have:
5 houses at max level; and, 1 house at lvl 1 (only because I decided to build 2nd alpaca pen at lvl 2)
    2 alpacas both at lvl2
2 sweet cherry orchards: 1 at max lvl; 1 at lvl3
1 almond and 1 coconut orchard both at lvl3
    farmhouse at max lvl
1 sugar mill, 1 crushing mill, 1 candy factory, 1 composter : all at lvl2
    8 fields : all at lvl2
Don't really know why things worked out so well, but they did. Also, @uksharon (GB1)  I don't have any strategy for candy farm. The setup I have is my own person choice; and, I don't play with gold.

sorry, what I meant to say at end is : "Also, LIKE @uksharon (GB1)  I don't have any farm strategy … etc"

One final thing which I forgot to mention is the fact that construction slot on temp farm is open so upgrading was faster and easier. Sometimes did 2 upgrades at same time using the temp farm construction slot as well as MF construction as the candy farm upgrades are such short ones, I didn't mind using the MF construction slot. That helped with getting candy farm setup a bit quicker.

Try building it like this: https://us.v-cdn.net/6025126/uploads/editor/9q/hhqusadj4nyk.png; except replacing a cocoa tree orchard with two alpaca pens would be better. And since the candy cowshed is no longer a hard work reward so gold is not really worth it and it's too difficult to use all the cocoa beans in the crushing mill without using gold, you can also replace another cocoa tree orchard with a sweet cherry orchard and produce a combination of sugar ornaments, chocolate and fruit pudding. I haven't done any calculations with what you can do with the extra 30 workers, but if you can add another sugar field without losing too much happiness then you can just produce mainly sugar ornaments and use the others for the leftover materials but if you can't add another sugar field then produce fewer sugar ornaments and more of the other recipes. If you get some handbooks for some of those recipes then you can easily earn over 2 million vouchers per day once the construction is complete but you need to be active to harvest frequently.

I don't see the point in more than one sweet almond orchard because the crushing mill is the bottleneck. I can't get all the sweet almonds I have crushed as it is. It would be nice if there was an option, just like getting 30 workers and more happiness, to spend some candy dollars to unlock a second of each mill.

To run five alpacas efficiently would mean at least one or two level 4 fields almost constantly churning out pasture. However, I notice that premium feed is quite cheap to buy so that can help tide things over.

It helps to be able to to have free harvest repeats with the convenience package. It would be nice to be able to repeat the mills as well.

Next time I play the Candy Farm (if there is a next time) I might duplicate orchards etc at level 1 and expand more quickly. What I did this time was minimize expansions and upgrade everything to maximum before expanding. The advantage of duplicating at the low er levels is that you can always continue to harvest a bit of everything while upgrading.

I don't fully get https://us.v-cdn.net/6025126/uploads/editor/9q/hhqusadj4nyk.png but I take it this means you limit what to churn out from the candy factory. Can take some of the fun of variety away though.

The crushing mill is definitely a large bottleneck in this farm. But there are also a lot of other limits, like if that bottleneck was removed, it would still be difficult to fit in the fields and orchards for producing extra recipes.

The handbooks can help a lot with the fields but if you play actively then about five or six fields should be fine.

It may not be as fun with the variety, but if you want to produce large amounts of vouchers then it can work well that way.
